Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 A7000

The device does not do the job if you don't do some... alterations – The adapter is constantly disconnecting. Sometimes its blue light flashes, sometimes not. Often it finds its way into getting back the connection, but usually I'm annoyed, I unplug it and plug it again and voilà, connection restored. I usually can't go through an entire 20 min. streaming video without having it freeze at least once. It also installs a bloatware with it's drivers that could have done the job on their own. Update: Now it works fine, but I had to search the Web and disable some process to make it finally work the way it should.

Easy to install. Great wireless connection and 200MB/s speeds – Reason For Buying Got this to improve online video calls via Zoom and MS Teams. I was getting stuttering and call dropouts every 3-4 minutes. Specs Of Equipment It Has To Connect To PC: Ryzen 7 CPU, 24GB RAM, AMD Radeon R570 GPU, 500GB SSD, Motherboard: Asrock A320M-HDV R4.0 Router: TP-LINK ARCHER AX55 How I Heard About It NY Times recommended it.
Installation Follow the instructions. Install the software first. The software comes on the included CD/DVD. Despite what a previous reviewer said, you don't need a dvd player in your PC, it is downloadable from their website: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/A7000.aspx#download. Plug it into a USB port and follow the steps set out in the app.
Result No drop outs. 200MB/s speeds. Fantastic.
Purchased in for $130.
Terrible Wifi Adapter – Purchased this Wi-Fi Adapter at the end of 2020 as I was moving into a new house without ethernet ports for my PC. What comes in the box? 1. Wi-Fi Adapater 2. Table Mount 3. Installation CD 4. Setup Guide Overview The NetGear AC1900 Model number A7000 is a 3.0 USB adapter that upgrades your desktop or laptops Wi-Fi adapter to a higher speed and network capacity. Supporting AC1900 speeds to be able to stream videos, intense gaming and transferring data wireless over your home network.
Installation The Wi-Fi adapter is very easy to install, either download the drivers or use the provided installation CD to install the NetGear genie and plug in the Wi-Fi adapter and you're all done. Installation was simple, straight forward and easy for this Wi-Fi adapter.
Review This Wi-Fi adapter has been causing my PC to bluescreen almost randomly when using the adapter. The first time was when it connected to my network for the first time, other times it's been very random. After some research, I tried removing just the Netgear genie and keeping the Wi-Fi driver - it still blue screened randomly. Once I swapped over to another Wi-Fi adapter the problem went away so all signs are pointing to this Wi-Fi adapter.
Pros 1. Easy setup and installation
Cons 1. Causes BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) randomly
Overall not satisfied and would not recommend
Purchased in for $129.
Can be difficult to install – I purchased this wife adpater because my computer internal wife adapter failed - so i had not internet. I was informed that adapter is good quality - and it should be for the price of $129 from JBHiFi. I plugged it into a usb slot on my computer - but the adapter is not plug and play and so my computer did not see it - I could not see any way to install the device from the control panel of windows 10. I had the CD that came with the pack but my PC does not have a cd and so I had no way of installing the device and no way of downloading the installer from the website. Anyway I called a mate who has a CD and was able to copy the software from his computer onto a USB stick. Also, when I tried the website on my mobile to see if I could download the windows installer there, the website only showed a download genie software for my mobile app not for windows (https://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/wifi-adapters/A7000.aspx). After I had run the start file on my computer, I was asked to plug in the adapter and it worked - phew!!! what a mess around. Next time I will buy anything but NETGEAR - wasted over 2 hours trying to get this thing to work.
