OK – In car terms this would be the base model holdon of routers. Weak signal. Will reach the secong level of a large home but the signal will not be strong. As for distance id say 40m away from the router and your pushing it plenty of options - vpn - wpa - wep - firewall CHEAP weak wireless signal
Good – Netgear have a great website which you can go to at any time you chose to look at settings and 'control' the unit. Have had for a number of years now with no dramas that haven't easily been resolved. Unit was easy to set up, no real technical knowledge required, illuminated lights so whats working (or not working). Have had some success with… Read more
their customer service department when things went a bit pear shaped. Seems to have distance issues and had to relocate the unit to another room closer to the computers. The ariel sticks up and can get caught up with cords and other items found on a computer desk.
Terrible – I wouldn't ever by a netgear product again, as the customer service is dreadful and the product works on and off, but not consistently. I would not recomend this product.... I have just bought a different brand and it works perfectly. the idea of a working wireless router! It has had non stop issues and their 'customer service' will not assist you and are very hard to understand.
Bad – This router worked ok for a time. Although, we had to go totally wired because it couldn't send a signal even 20 feet. Then one day it quit, and after being off for a day, it was rebooted (about the 8th time rebooting), and on random pages, images won't load. And some pages wont show up at all. verizonwireless.com wont load, ebay shows half the… Read more
pix, tigerdirect.com shows empty squares where pix ought to be, etc. Get on the phone with tech support - in India - and I can't understand the accent at all so a 10 minute tech call takes 37 minutes of "What? I don't understand" The next tech support call was the same, but this guy told me he'd NEVER heard of this problem, put me on hold and says his supervisor never heard of the problem either. Then, 2 minutes later he's telling me that this problem is normally caused by flash player not being updated. Um... what? OK, so now i feel totally lied to. After a lot of research, I learned this entire scenario is common, and I will NEVER buy Netgear again. I'm going to buy the Buffalo router on newegg.com and see what happens. I don't expect the promised level 2 tech support return call from netgear, but we'll see. I'm rating this a 2 instead of a 1 because it lasted for 5 months. Installation was easy. Streamlined design is nice looking and fits on desk well. Weak signal, slow thruput.
Bad – Bought one of these routers to replace the same model (earlier version). Plugged everything in and went through the setup but couldn't get it to connect to the internet. Plugged the old one back in and it worked fine. Also had trouble setting up wireless networking with a Vista laptop which had no trouble connecting to other wireless networks. … Read more
Tried to update the firmware but the web site was broken to see if this would resolve my issues. All in all spent 3 hours playing around with various settings and got nowhere. At least it'll make a pretty paperweight. It's cheap. It's nasty.
Good – Generally great speed, easy to use and was extremely easy to set up. I am quite contented with the Netgear wireless router as it seems to serve its purpose really well, and so far I have not had any problems with it at all. I would definately recommend this product to someone else or purchase another if needed. Extremely easy to set up,… Read more
especially for someone who is not necessarily computer savy. Often drops out, I have spoken to my service provider and they blame the wireless router, although, I'm not necessarily convinced. One of those "its always someone else's product's falt".
Excellent – i love netgear i would not buy any other brand. they proved them selves by having ease of use and high performance. thier quality is the best. i have never had one issue since purchasing a while ago and when setting up the router it automatically adjusts the settings according to your service provider and all you have to do is create a password to… Read more
administer the router in teh future. it has lots of security features and the wireless signall is very strong no matter where you are in the house. exceleltn for using fast internet on laptops and other wireless devices that access the internet. it has a built in firewall and connect up to 4 computers to share the internet. Netgear is the leader in routers for their technology and ease of use. simple seup and no hassles. good support, quick reply nothing, smooth sailing all the way
Excellent – Excellent product, easy to use and setup. I have only had good success with the product. When i have to contact customer service, I have had quick and efficient support. Which got me up and running again. Thank you Excellent product, easy to use and setup Nothing , I have only had good success with the product
OK – THe manual that comes with it is easy to read and very helpfull for novies to the more experienced outlining all the parts of the mdoem and importantly how to setup your wifi. The Vista drivers at the moment appear to be buggy but work well if your still on Windows XP. It is quite cheap and cheerful, being quite easy to set up and reasonably… Read more
straight forward. It does not support ADSL 2 speeds and with many isp's offering this service, a newer model modem would be the go for many users. whilst it has reasonable wifi speeds, it drops off markedly at longer ranges.
Good – This router came with my Optus fusion connection and replaced my previous wireless router. The new router has been much more reliable and effective. It was free with the broadband connection and surpassed the other painful switch. Since install over one year previous, I have not been near it again. We run three laptops and a desktop over a… Read more
cable connection without problems. This is the wireless router I would recommend. I have yet to test the range but there are no problems anywhere in our house. Just what any home network needs. I set this router up once and that was the last time it ever required any further config. Nil - its all ok.
Excellent – I first bought this modem 2 years ago and it has never missed a beat!!! I have only had to set it up once and then have forgotten about it. 4 computers are connected to it in my house hold and there is never a problem. I would never consider any other brand for a router, Netgear has is down pat. I have friends who ahve nothing but troubles with… Read more
brands like D-link, which are hard to configure and and pain to set up.
I would recommend this brand to anyone in the market for a new router. Easy to Set Up, Basic configurations, A number of Options to block sites and users
Excellent – It's easy to find and easy to set up. It looks good if it's on a table which may be wise, as when I put it on the floor I just completely forgot about it. It also has very good customer service, as I found out when my router got struck by lightning. They gave me a free one, repaired my old one so I now have two routers. And it was all free of… Read more
charge! Light, small, stylish and portable! Easy to install, and has a good warranty which they follow up on. It may be a little pricey, easy to step on because it's so small!
Good – Great little machine as a router only. eays to setup all the IP info and user names etc the software just dealt with it. Initially the software didn't run then when I gave it admin control it worked fine. It took about 20 minutes to setup this was mainly software being loaded. But it was really nice and easy the software aske dthe questions in a… Read more

OK – I have tried installing this router a number of times and each time i have failed. I now need to call a computer techinician to install it for me. It is probably simple to fix it, but I have tried everything and still i cant install it. Though i do believe that once it is connected it will be very simple and there will be no other problems. … Read more
All together I think that it is be very hard to install for some people but once it is up and going, very easy and quick to use. Light and small Can be hard to install, I couldnt install it and have to call a professional in to help
Good – Out of the box this router wireless modem worked pretty much straight away for me. I plugged it in, installed the drivers of the CD & it automatically detected my laptop & connected to it - then i realised i didn’t have any security settings in place. The laptop had connected to my DSL 2 broadband at a really great rate too. It took me a few hour… Read more
to get the same speed with my security features turned on though (then again this was my first try). Even so i was happy that everything was running the same day i purchased it. The Netgear brand is one you can trust.
It’s a relatively inexpensive unit. Wifi range isnt the greatest but the price is very good
Good – It is fast, a real time saver, giving you maximum spead for something which is wireless. Also allows you to do things quick and effectively. Wonderful, just wonderful. It is so fast and accurate that you would have bearly any lag on your computer unless the computer tower is not strong enough to support it. Wireless also means that you don't have… Read more
to fiddle around with the wires, giving you a larger distance to have your computer at. People who may park outside your house may have the potential to hack into your computer taking off all the information and planting viruses into your computer.
Good – I got this router for free as a part of a package, so i thought I would give it a go. It seems to work fine with my laptop computer and can easily handle cable broadband speeds, so i am happy with it. This unit is relatively small, light weight and good looking. It has a relatively inexpensive retail price (I got my one for free as part of a… Read more
package with some other items). Pretty good router for the beginner home-user. It does what a router should do. Wireless range is not great - if you want more range you need to buy a different, more expensive model.
Good – Apart from the initial problems with windows, the router was generally quite easy to configure. It is linking a computer upstairs and gets full speed internet downloads. A word of warning to those who are not technologically adept, Netgear 'Customer Service' charge $40 to answer any technical problems. So if you have problems installing the… Read more
router, get a technologically aware friend to help. A $40 fee to answer what are generally easy problems to fix makes, the router suddenly becomes quite expensive, especially if you need to make more than one call. Reasonable price Wouldn't setup with windows until it was formatted and reloaded. No problems with Ubuntu.
Excellent – is't perfect for people who wanna surf from home. The NETGEAR is my first router, sofar i have no complaints. i just love the size, definitely not a hassle to carry about. i'm a little worried about the aerial, whether it can be replaced locally or do i have to import the parts.
Good – All in all, for the price this is a good buy. Netgear have always made high quality networking equipment. This offers the average home user a good basic wireless router. Good features for a lower priced Home wireless router, nice looking unit made by a reputable manufacturer. The setup wizard is easy to use. Occasional lockups which require reboot, wireless range maybe could be better?
OK – Does the job once you get it working. Because of its reliability I bought one for my Mum. Try to buy one from somewhere that doesnt mind helping out with installation. Very reliable modem once installed. The ability to put it on a stand so it is on its side reduces its footprint which is always useful on cluttered computer desks. I'll admit, I… Read more
found this one to be a bit tricky to install and setup. Luckily I am on excellent terms with my computer store and they basically helped me run through it over the phone. I probably could have worked it out myself, but it would have taken much longer.

Good – I purchased one of these routers after reading reviews on here and I have to say that I am impressed by it. The price was good and so far I have no major gripes about the unit. We did have a reasonable amount of trouble trying to install the router where it kept choosing different computers to control it but we eventually got that worked out. I… Read more
couldn't understand that it tells you to turn the computer off while installing it but the only manual that came with it was on a CD. That was a bit strange. But we are happy with the router! It accepts wireless and wired. It was reasonably priced! Was a bit hard to install
Good – Excellent wireless router for the average home user. Easy to use, and reliable. Not that it matter much, but it's an attractive little device too. Had one or two dropouts when I originally installed it, but that hasn't happened since I installed the lastest firmware patch
OK – A great product. Very reliable and good, clear signal. Value for money and perfect for home office or small network. Easy to install/setup. Reliable. Indicators (lights) are clear - you can tell if there is a problem with a quick glance. Hmmm... none that I've discovered?
OK – good and security wirless router for home use, especially for beginners. The wizard work great except if you run into problem when the router trying to detect your connection type. The user manual was too simple. Full manual is on the cd. easy to set up. firewall works ok. very nice white colour hard to bypass the setup wizard
Good – Well, I have set up 3 computers at home to share our Cable modem connection and was very surprised at how easy it is to configure. 2 PC's runs XP and they were a breeze to setup. The 3rd PC is Windows 98 and whilst it required a little bit more effort to configure it still was quite easy. Small and compact. It looks good and is easy to configure.… Read more
It loses is connection periodically but I don't think this is a fault as I have seen this happen to other routers. It iseasily reset by unplugging and re-plugging in the USB port.
Excellent – When something works in the background and you don”t have to worry about it then the answer is. . . . Small footprint, works extremely well with my Mac system and the Neuston media centre and the Airport Express card. No setup needed connected and it worked. None - yet
