Lemon – We ordered our new age of classic at Melbourne caravan show. At that stage there was a dealership in Frankston which subsequently closed and a new one opened in Dandenong. Our new van was delivered to Dandenong and on arrival to collect it the sales people were showing people through our brand new van that we hadn't even seen. The Dandenong… Read more

dealership closed so we then had to travel to the other side of the city for warranty work and there has been a lot. The tunnel boot had a leak and it took 5 attempts before it was fixed. The rangehiid switch was broken and they replaced it but put it in back the front. The ensure door doesn't slide freely so they shaved some off the bottom and now it doesn't latch properly. The freezer compartment of the fridge had a crack in the base of it so they replaced it and wired it incorrectly which burnt out the computer board of it. Still having discussions about this because it's not out of warranty. We have now found a water leak at the base of the bedroom wall. The back legs don't go down properly. The oven seal needed to be replaced because the service centre decided to cut most of it out to fix it. This caravan had barely been out if the she'd and most trips have resulted in dropping at the repair centre on the way home. Would never buy another or recommend a new age.

Our Taj Mahal – 2017 Model well built. Tows well in my 200 series Land Cruiser Sahara. All vans have minor issues as they age. (Like boot locks etc) Can’t fault this luxury van. Semi off road van but 95% touring on the bitumen around Australia in this van so not abused. (Roller rocker suspension) Good New Age dealer on Gold Coast gave us a great deal with… Read more

ESC/extra batteries/extra solar/2in. Riser. RV Wi F/Fans etc. East west bed is great and no end of storage. Extra large ensuite. Washing machine. This is a big unit but easy to manage. If you have the right tow vehicle I would not hesitate buying a 23ft Oz Classic.

Great van at reasonable cost follow up! – Firstly the van tows exceptionally well, with no sway and stays straight with semis overtaking. I should add this is a 2013 model. We are the second owners having purchased it 12 months ago. Problems we have had was a pinhole leak in the pipe running to water heater. I just cut out that section and added a replacement length with John Guest… Read more

fittings $12 fix. A couple of the Al Ko feet on the corner stands broke, $46 Al Ko Big Foot kit (4 piece) fixed that. On the plus side, the hot water supply nice and hot and quick to heat up. Fantastic shower with plenty of room, stove and oven light instantly as they should. Great storage space. Well built sturdy van.

Ok so fast forward our van continues to impress. No problems and a great van for two people. July 2022

Absolute lemon – We bought our van in 2013, we were initially happy with it, only having done a few short trips. After a couple of longer trips however, we’ve had to fix the water pipes underneath the van 3 times broken traveling dirt roads. The outside vent cover over fridge flew off going down the highway and to top it off the A part of the frame behind tow… Read more

hitch broke almost completely through on both sides, the only thing that stopped it breaking completely is the tool box on the front. Newage want nothing to do with it as they say we have impacted something, that’s absolute rubbish. The van has only done about 20000 ks, and we paid extra at the time for heavy duty frame etc. Clearly newage doesn’t stand behind their product. If your looking for a new van steer clear of newage

Stress fractures around inside of front window on Oz Classic 2014 Model – Ourselves and friends both bought Oz Classics within 3 months of each other and both have serious fractures around the front window which lets in the rain while travelling. Our friends have now traded theirs in on another Brand and we are in process of ding the same. I see that New Age have deleted the window on some of the later vans. We love… Read more

our van and have done over 80000 kms since new but would have been an expensive exercise to fix it.Lets hope caravan manufacturers can fix the problem without removing the window.

Great van but a couple of small things not considered – Caravan beautiful. Design fault with the T.V. not fixed with big enough screws so consequently move it and it falls into your hands. Needs a permanent fix. All else fantastic.  Show details

Our Second New Age Oz Classic 20E – We recently traded in our 2012 Oz Classic 20 for a 2015 Oz Classic 20E. We travelled about 40K in our old van and only had one warrantly issue caused by faulty sealing of a hatch which was repaired under warranty. Our new van has a number of improvements particularly in the electrical installation side. As well as a numer of extras (solar, oil… Read more

heating, generator, 50mm chassis riser, reversing camera, Al-Ko ESC). We've travelled about 5000Km without any issues. The vans fitting are all quality caravan standard fittings and the finish of furniture and fittings is excellent. While not the cheapest vans on the market, New Age Caravans are solid quality built and one of the best in the industry.

Great after warranty service – We purchased our Newage Oz Classic from Little joeys in Melbourne as there is no dealers in Darwin in October 2013 and have been on the road since August 2014 and have had know problems until arriving in Tamworth for the country music festival were we discovered a small leak inthe front window. We got a lemon – We ordered our Oz Classic 22 from a show in Bundaberg from a representative from New Age. As we planned to travel full time for at least two years we ordered recliner chairs for more comfort. (first mistake) We believe we should have been told that they take up so much room in the galley and the table is so narrow that it's hard to put two plates… Read more

on it, and overall very uncomfortable.

We took delivery of our new van in February 2015 and started our trip around Australia in May 2015. Our first day on the road we discovered we couldn't drink any of the water that came through the van (fresh or out of the tanks ) we took it back to the dealer to see what the problem was as it seemed that we were getting grey water through the freshwater system. The dealer informed there was nothing wrong but did flush the tanks. The problem persisted after flushing the tanks at least 20 times, so I decided to ring the installer. They couldn't work out the problem and decided to send out an inline water filter (we already had one fitted) to see if that would fix the problem. The taste of the water finally became marginally better by around October and we had made arrangements to get it checked out once in Victoria. Water leaked from under the oven. We rang New Age about the problem and was told it was impossible. After further phone calls they sent out a plumber. After pulling out the oven we found that the heat from the oven had burnt a small hole it the water pipe, due to the fact it hadn't been attached to the wall. We also had a problem with the power. The trip switch would trip as soon as we had more that two items on at the same time. Eventually a electrician was sent out to see what the problem was, he had never worked on a caravan and had no idea about caravans & didn't want to touch anything but did fix a broken power point that failed earlier that day. ( the problem persisted ). The air conditioner was also a problem as it didn't seem to heat or cool the van as it should. There were also a few other minor problems and we rang both the agents and New Age. As we weren't happy we rang the dealer and asked to trade in the van for a new one (we knew that it would cost us but as we are travelling full time we need assurance that we are not having continual problems and we need to be comfortable.) The agent in my opinion wasn't very helpful and told us that our van would be very hard to sell due to its configuration. We eventually found a new van that suited our needs in November 2015 in Nowra and decided to bite the bullet and trade in our New Age.

In saying all this we did like the van but unfortunately we think we got a lemon. To sum it up do your homework and don't believe everything the sales person tells you,

New Age Oz Classic – Hi guys, My wife and I are looking at buying a new Majestic Knight Caravan or possibly a Lotus Freelander or maybe even a New age Oz Classic and wanting to do an around Australia trip and hopefully will be doing a reasonable amount of free camping, so just not sure which van would be better suited for all terrain!!! All seem to have very good… Read more

Newrage Loserbago – I purchased this van early 2012 from Little Joeys Epping. It was a display van and I got a great deal ! Then I towed it home to prepare for work around Aus trip. Before leaving, I set up the bed with new linen to show off , luckily I did not sleep in it, as it rained that night, so when I looked in next morning, the bed was wet and dripping into… Read more

drawers underneath! Inspection of Camec 4 seasons hatch revealed poor design and manufacture coupled with poor installation.(it does not need a whole tube of silicon to seal anything. This event pretty well sums up the next 12 months! I did not realise how naïve I was until I met the local repair man. Any one wishing to buy their dream van should talk to any caravan repair business and have their dream bought back to reality!

Poor design and manufacture coupled with shoddy workmanship runs out of control in the caravan industry..

To try and explain the issues I have I will start at the tow hitch and do a walk around of my van.

*The Alco tow hitch. It is a silly thing, having unnecessary revolving and tumbling aspects making hook up difficult, particularly after the little plastic thing shot off into the garden, broken, my fault, I bumped it. What is wrong with a simple tow ball? The hand brake works well. *The Alco jockey wheel. The 2 mounting brackets handle bolts had to be cut shorter to install/ remove as they clashed. *The draw bar mounted tap.The plumbing was damaged by a stone when the stone guard fell off, probably got hit by a stone! This did not matter as it all had to be shifted to install the EZE Lift kit I was "sold" that I simply did not need on my Land Cruiser tray ute. Salesmanship! *The aluminium Front Boot. Lid welds were cracked from new, not a problem. * The Alco wind down stabiliser leg shoes. The salesman told me they would break, One broke on way home from dealer, 2 others broken now while travelling. *The 15amp power inlet. It is located directly above the gas/electric hot water exhaust. This really has not been a real safety issue as you can secure the power lead out of harms way each time you manually light the gas. Doing this your self is more reliable than using the auto switch, hidden, in a cupboard, on other side of van, above range hood in with my condiments tray, and , you can get some interesting hair removal as well... *The gas/electric hot water heater. It is a little ripper,(apart from some lighting issues) It is fast and efficient, hot water every time and every where, even around the bed when the outlet fitting split because the installer used the wrong thread fitting! *Dometic fridge vents. The sales rep broke the extremely poor design latch when introducing me to the amazing collection of unknown wiring behind fridge. He gracefully offered to replace with new. It fell off on way home. I found one on the road in QLD and screwed it on like everybody else, fixed! *Camec entry door. Brilliant to use,, but it has a little roller wheel on top of door, only, (not on screen door part, it just rubs its own track). This roller had a little plastic spike sticking out of it, (part of manufacturing process, should have been cut off) It took me a couple of days to notice the roller spike was cutting a "track" , above, the door in the awning. *Dometic sunchaser awning. The repair man said that happens a lot and sold me some tape to save the expense of a repair as at 2 years old, it should not last much longer cos they are only **** anyway. I have only used it for a month. The tape is used by yachties and works really well. *Camec grab handle door light. Could be a handy! thing if it worked.

Lets go Inside now,, the THULE foldaway door step is just brilliant, well designed and manufactured, thank you THULE. Your step saved me from injury the only time I used the caravan entry safety handle it fell off, me in rose bush. This all happened when I was removing the wet linen and mattress from the leaking 4 seasons hatch incident. I told Newage I would have gladly paid extra to have them add 5 mil to every screw in the van. This was a silly comment to make and I would soon find out why. This was a display van,, and some cretin had sat on the fold out foot rest provided in the seating. The foot rest fell off, mainly because of the short screw issue. I told them I would fix it with a couple of small nuts and bolts,, no way,, we insist! A month later when turning the seat cushions around, I was alarmed by a tearing sound,,,Newage had taken my screw length advice and screwed the foot rest back on with screws that long they went through the seat and 25 mil into the lovely (new) leather cushions! *Led overhead lighting. Just brilliant, until it went dim! Caused by wood and metal shavings shaking into light fittings from ceiling cavity. *Wall lighting. I do not use it much because most switches do not work. Dust. *Curtain rail. Fell off, Screwed into nothing. * Casale range hood. The light is handy. *Thetford Caprice stove. Griller is useless. Glass griller door exploded. Griller heat shield fell off. Glass stovetop cover fell off. Electric element will not go low enough, Small burners too hot. I will master the oven eventually. Large burners too cold.(I also have Spinflo stove top in my tow vehicle, it is worse, should have kept the old black and white stove top and grill from last century) *Cabinetry. OK it is chipboard but it is ok if it used properly, we do have the tools! I do not mind taking the pot drawer out before travel and it was not hard to fix the thin ply floor. *Casale washer. Wastes water, rinsing twice, Can be outsmarted, will write note next time to recall trick. *Do not buy a van with a round, funnel shaped hand basin, water goes every where.

Summing up. Watch were you walk. I have stood in shattered glass, Water, rain, hot, cold and toilet water! All fixed by me with drain holes in floor. I have checked every screw in this van, one third were stripped, fixed by me. The front vent of the useless Camec 4 seasons hatch hinge failed, so I hold it on with wire. I take this vent cover off when travelling thus pressurising van '''' No more dust''''.

Newage, after 12 months, sent me a survey, questions about the salesmans dress, coffee temp, waiting room comfort etc.(Like Toyota) I replied with some of the real problems, challenging them to call and discuss issues with me and offered to help with ideas like, having air inlet at front of van to pressurise same so you do not get dust in your fridge freezer, microwave and throughout van. Use less than 4 tubes of silicon to hold solar panel on. Add 10 mil to every screw length, Spend a few bob on some pvc elbows to protect under floor plumbing. Create a wiring diagram. My auto elec deserves a medal for fixing the safety brake wiring problem.

The reliable parts are Provista solar, Projecta charger, Thule step, Command aircon, The shower screen factory and Wineguard. Thank you.

Now I know why caravanners give each other that '' knowing wave'' when you pass on the road, its fellowship and sympathy! Cheers Greg e. More news, on 3/11/14 as I pushed the ignitor button to light the oven an explosion blew all the drawers out the cabinetry! No real harm done, with just a couple of panels to screw back on and very little burnt, hearing restored quite quickly! The gas repair man said the gas leak was caused by the installer using mismatched nuts used on the stove isolator tap, installed in a void under stove, allowing gas to build up in cabinetry,,BOOM. He found another 3 taps with the wrong nuts in the rest of van. PS, the taps come with correct nuts, so the installer has not used them. Beware,,get your nuts checked! Latest news ,,,13/5/19,, Whilst registering this van in Queensland,,, the gas certification inspector pointed out that the model name on the original registration is incorrect... It is called a New Age Oz Classic 20 series,,,, but has Big Red BR 20 written on the compliance plate! They could not even get the model part right!
