Nissan Patrol Y62 Ti (2013-2026)

Car gets used almost everyday for the last 5 years, doing the schools runs, to the shops and all that. Clocked over 100,000kms and it hasnt skipped a beat. Not a single issue with it at all. Most offroading done is on sand but honsytly it behaves as if its on the road still, impressive considering its weight. Then there's the beating heart of the beast, with an aftermarket exhaust it sounds incredible, not to mention the insane power it creates. Show details
Everyone gets a window seat – The patrol was the best fit for our family at the time of purchase in 2020. It has adequate space to carry all the family’s things comfortably while towing our camper trailer too. The patrol has reasonable fuel economy on the highway but likes a drink in stop start traffic. The patrol is so much more vehicle when compared with the Ute based… Read more
SUV’s and is considerably cheaper than the Landcruiser.
Very happy with the patrol after three years of ownership, no issues mechanically so far.
Best 4wd I have ever owned or driven – Touring, Family Transport, Off Roading, Towing Never had any issues, I have owned 2 X Y62's a S1 and S5 and have just ordered my 3rd which will be a 2022 build ( hoping for a updated interior, which is the only area the vehicle is dated) Great family vehicle has a ton of space & leg room, even with the 3rd row of seats being used I can still fit… Read more
my engel in. Fuel economy is very good for a large V8 4WD, dont get my wrong it's no prius you will use 14/100 around town. A recent trip to lightning ridge towing my 21 foot van returned an average fuel economy of 19.66 ltrs/100 towing at the speed limit (gps speed) Best vehicle by far I have ever towed with. I have always had the option to use my work car at no cost to me as a tow vehicle but refuse as their towing performace was simple inadequate (was a ranger but now have a dmax) Highly recommend checking them out My only issue is the outdated interior but tbh its not that bad
Cost & Reliability of the Patrol – I headed of on another trip to the high country around Woods Point, Jamieson and Mt Stirling. The patrol was fuelled and checked and ready to go to our first nights camping area at Sheep Yard Flat. Again towing an off-road trailer the 3 hour trip during the hot weather was uneventful as the vehicle has enough power going up hills, great air… Read more
conditioning to make trip cool and with cruise control made the trip comfortable and less stressful.
Arriving at Sheep Yard Flat (relaxed), setting up camp next to the Howqua river was all done in 5-10 minutes and also was great as weather was hot and made cooling off in the river refreshing.
Next morning we awoke to the wildlife of parrots and corellas. So we headed off on the 4wd tracks to test out the Patrol. There were plenty of difficult sections requiring the use of the diff locker which is standard with this vehicle and I tell you, I have done these tracks before with earlier model Patrol without diff locker and the difference in climbing some of these hills was so easy, simply up and over without loosing traction. Also, with 17 inch Goodrich Tyres, it lifted the car just enough so I did not once bottom out. Slow and easy is the game as all tracks through river crossings and over the tops of mountains and on some very steep and rocky terrain were very easily navigated with great traction and made very easy with some standard gear.
My friends from Queensland, who had not been in the high country before said they had a great time and a very comfortable trip.
The fuel economy was great as we did over 160Kms on 4wd tracks taking all day to navigate and used less than a quarter of a tank. This was even using air conditioning all day due to hot weather. The next few days were similar and heaps of fun without destroying the tracks or vehicle, hardly a scratch or minor ones that will buff out.
I can only say that it is a shame that they have stopped making the Patrol in 3.0 litre but would encourage people to even consider another nissan 4wd vehilcle even the V8 Patrol and get out there and have a great time.
I do alot of trips some large and some small and get to places where alot of people don't get to see but it appears that possibly more and more people are listening and getting off road.
Great to see and have a great adventure with a Nissan off road vehicle.
Best off road SUV ever – Absolutely beast! Long hwy drives are a breeze and tows effortlessly. Huge amount of room for all occupants and really comfortable. Great value for money and absolutely leaves the land snoozer poo hundred for dead. You won’t regret getting one Show details
Paint Quality, Poor service – Never been off road or on a beach/sand. Massive issue with paint flaking off EVERY panel even inside door jams. Some came off with a garden hose. Has rust on 3 doors as well. Car is 3yrs old and Nissan have denied it’s an issue. They said it’s caused by external sources. Would NEVER buy another Nissan unless it’s in writing from the dealer that this will be covered under warranty. Show details
Best one mate it’s v8 – Daily driving my wife she love it and she drives it like she’s in the Mini Cooper. Fule economy is good to 14 L 100 and over taking road train is breez . We pay 69500 new with tow bar . My advice to people test drive one and don’t look at dealers demo car fule economy that will scare you . Because it’s test drive every one floor it in short test drive Show details
Great Value For Money, Tow Vehicle. Provides a safe, stable, secure towing platform for a genuine 3,500kg and 7,000 GCM – Purchased the Patrol in July 2018, has covered 35,000 Km but nearly all towing a 3 ton Caravan. I maintain strict records for each trip and am yet to use over 20L/100K for trip. We have not done any long trips out of the state (WA) as yet (due to COVID) but have been as far as the Kimberely (17.8L/100K headwind) and Albany 16.3 L/100K (tailwind)… Read more
. This car has sufficient power to allow good use of cruise control (Forrest Highway), although not in hilly terrain) and this does seem to keep consumption down. I use the gearbox in manual mode, usually tow in 5th or 6th. The Patrol has a higher GVM, higher Load capacity and Higher GCM than an LC200 with less fuel consumption, and correspondingly lower emissions. The Patrol is used approx every 4-6 weeks to tow the van, but rarely around the city. It is serviced by the dealer every 10,000K and I change the engine oil at the 5,000K interval myself. Very easy to work on. I have not noticed any oil leaks or issues myself with the vehicle and have not had to complain about any issues at all under warranty. I agree that the leather is not of the highest quality, but with some leather conditioner applied, it performs adequately. Paintwork, is no worse than my 2 Prado's, 2 Pajero's, Previous Patrol or Navara, it does the job. Tyres, I still have the original set of tyres after 35K of towing, and I will get another 10K minimum out of them, but they are not a high mileage tyre and handling ride and braking could be improved by fitting better quality rubber. Pretty much the same as most OE tyres I guess. Why would it be possible to shorten the life of these tyres, simple really, this car has 300 Kw on tap, the power can become addictive, but the car weighs 2,715 Kg plus accessories. It can accelerate 0 to 100 in 7 seconds, so reasonable fast. If you drive it like a sedan with that kind of performance, the connection between the road and the vehicle wears more quickly, drive it like a 2.7+ ton SUV and you will get better tyre life, and better fuel economy.
Would I purchase another Patrol YES in a heartbeat. They are great Value for Money, and produce less emissions than most equivalent size SUV's.
Quite comfy and that V8 :) – Bought new in april and have put 10k kms on it, gets used on road and off road! Love it! Around town averages 14.5ltrs per 100, out on the open roard averages 12ltrs per 100. It feels very nimble for a large car, there has been a few rattles and squeaks in interior but nothing to hard to fix.. Offroad its very capable, all the different modes and diff lock is very handy.. Very happy with the buy.. Show details
Build Quality gone missing – Bought this due to increasing price of rivals, and excellent room inside. Thought i could grab a bargain. Previously owned 200 series and Disco 4's. Engine is great, this power in a stock 4x4 is something aussies are yet to fully grasp. Suspension does a good job for a car of this size. Nothing like the disco though. Performs seriously well… Read more
off-road for a stock wagon at 2.8t. Towing is great, probably on par with the 200. 90% Country/Coastal use, with plenty of offroad & towing. Uses about 2l more fuel than the 200. 21lph compared to 19lph.
Everything else however lets it down; 1) Seats are crap leather, and front seats move around due to poor elec motor setup. 2) Middle seats have no ergonomic support, and actually end up uncomfortable 3) All panel work is too thin, poor paint quality and overall feels fragile. 4) Interior creaks and is mostly thin crap plastic 5) Gearbox seems to wander off track once a day. 6) doors are lightweight crap, door seals leak
Car has done under 10,000 and really keen to trade it in for a D4 or 200, as the build quality just isn't there. I now understand where nissan save 20k over a Toyota in build cost. Comes back to get what you pay for. you cant have a good full size 4by for less than 100k.
Poor Quality Paint and Factory Tyres – After owner a land cruiser for last 10 years I made the change and regretting it already after 20,000kms. Going through the forums and from my experience Nissan Patrols paint is not up to Australian conditions unless you don't ever take it of the bitumen. Paint chips everywhere and Nissan can't explain. seems like a common issue. Also factory… Read more
tyres are shot after 20,000kms and need replacing again. Alignments all in spec but no explanation or acknowledgment from Nissan, There customer service team are useless. Buyers beware!
love our nissan patrol – Purchased a new Patrol 6 months ago to pull our 2.8 ton van. Our old tow vehicle, a trusty turbo diesel Landcruiser which had been great but getting a bit long in the tooth. Did extensive research re the new cruiser and the patrol. The cruiser with the same equipment was $30000 more than the patrol. Have now covered 7000ks and unable to fault the… Read more
patrol. Only down side is the foot operated park brake. Fuel use is better than the cruiser diesel. (Averaging 19.6/100lt towing the van compared with 22 with the cruiser). Great to drive around town. I am a lead foot and love the get up and go at the lights from a 2.8 ton rig.
I love this car!! – Honestly I wish I could buy two! Best car I’ve ever owned! Love love love it!!! Average fuel consumption is about 13 per 100 which is better than my v6 Colorado :) Show details

Know better, choose better.
Stunning car in terms of performance, capabilities and features – I was looking at Landcruisers but decided to also test drive the new Patrol. The space and layout was better and the financial decision made sense. At around $15,000 less than a Landcruiser it had everything like tri zone climate control, 8 seats, 7 speed auto, 360 degree birds eye cameras, rear diff lock, HBMC suspension, leather, tyre pressure… Read more
sensors, GPS navigation and handsfree voice dialling and GPS control. The power is amazing and the fuel economy is significantly improved in the series 4.
Patrol 5.6 V8 Petrol Fabulous for all driving conditions – Bought Patrol 2018. Just drove it to Kakadu and Litchfield from Adelaide towing 3.5 ton 25ft caravan. Wow what can I say. Just pulled the van no probs with fabulous V8 power when passing. Averaged 20 litres/100kms when towing. So quiet on petrol and just so comfortable and roomy. When 4WD driving drove so smooth over gravel and ruts and through… Read more

Really love having the Patrol and recommend it to anyone thinking of changing to one. You won’t be disappointed I can guarantee that.
Best 4x4 on the market hands down! – Amazingly comfortable, can fit 7 adults easily. Power!! Need I say more? Fuel economy, 10L/100 highway. 20L/100 towing 3.5T Hands down the best 7 seat true 4x4 on the market. My only regret is not buying one sooner. Do yourself a favour and test drive one, then tell us what colour u ordered. Show details
Great, power, comfort and not as thirsty as many make out – A beautiful driving machine, quiet and smooth it is effortless to drive. Massive and roomy inside the petrol V8 is a pleasure to drive. Value for money is unbelievable and fuel economy i have been getting is around 12.5L/100kms highway and 14.5L/100kms dotting around town. The omly things i miss are heated seats and auto tailgate, which are TiL spec. Price was a whopping $30k lower than comparible spec 200 VX amd no diesel/injector worries. Show details
Prerfection – After owning a Landcrusier, we thought we would try something different, and couldnt be happier with the Nissan Patrol, stylish to look at and the comfort inside is second to none, totally in love with it. Driving in style and comfort is a must, and this car so far ticks all the boxes. Show details
Y62 patrol running costs are pleasantly surprising – I am surprised by the running costs of the V8 Y62 patrol. Previously I had the Y61 Patrol which was a diesel vehicle d my running costs worked out at 84 cents per kilometer. This was calculated by total costs and divided by the number of kilometers travelled. In short around town it got 16.5 ltrs/100km and on the open road 12.5 ltrs/ 100km. The… Read more
new Y62 patrol with the V8 engine has worked out at 65 cents per kilometer and it uses 18.5ltrs/100km around town and 10.2 ltres/100km on the open road. You notice a big difference on the open road where you are only doing 1599 rpm at 100km per hour and the vehicle has the power to hold this on hills where the old diesel vehicle dropped back to 2nd gear at 3000 rpm . The ride is much quieter and the handling on the open road is flat and stable, the brakes seem to pull up faster than the old vehicle.
The only problem I have had was the satnav device gave intermittent sdcard read error but Nissan to their credit sorted this out after the 3rd visit.
I an very happy with this vehicle
Best 4x4 out! – Beautiful to drive, goes extremely well for a 2.7 tonne car. Also has like 500nm at 1600rpm and then 560nm at 4000rpm - very very good torque curve. Beats most diesel 4x4's in torque alone. The inside is extremely roomy and comfortable and has absolutely no rattles or squeaks. Dash is a bit out dated as it's been the same for nearly 10 years now,… Read more
but still nice with GPS and three zone climate control etc.
It's reliability is extraordinary for a modern vehicle, but that's partly due to minimal moving parts and a lower pressure fuel system than most other 4x4's.
Offroad it's surprisingly capable as well and will surely impress.
For a little over 70k it is extremely hard to fault. I think the only issue we've had is the little towball lock bolt and nut came out and that's literally it.
Excellent, reliable and well built touring 4wd. Not a good choice as a family city car (like all 4wds of this size) – We have a 2017 y62 Ti purchase new. These are a very nicely engineered large body on frame 4wd with incredible value for money compared to its only real competitor - the Landcruiser 200 series. These have never taken off or sold in anywhere near the same numbers due to a lack of a diesel drivetrain. However, demand has exceeded supply for the last… Read more · 1
few years as the true capability and value of these vehicles becomes known. Australias are a fickle breed when it comes to their 4wds: "they must be diesel and have solid front and rear axles otherwise they are hopeless off road and use too much fuel"
Pros.
-Value for money - base model Ti on road about 20-25k less than Landcruiser VX (most similar in terms of equipment)
-Japanese build quality
-Incredibly refined and responsive 5.6l v8 engine with 90% max torque from 1600 rpm but power and torque from idle to 6000rpm
-Massive space (bigger than Landcruiser)
-Fully independent hydraulically linked suspension offers handling and cornering that defy the size of the vehicle
-Very quiet at highway speed. No wind noise, very little tyre noise and engine only audible under load (but sounds great under acceleration)
-Excellent unmodified off-road performance with standard rear LSD/diff lock. Many tests show more capable than the Landcruiser.
-Best 4wd in sand bar none ( they are very popular in the Middle East)
-Petrol engine has given very few issues for owners with no expensive and fickle diesel issues (pumps, injectors, turbos)
-In out case economy has been acceptable (12l/100 highway, 15l/100 town, 17l/100 campervan). In reality, probably 2l/100 more than a diesel cruiser.
Cons.
-Very large for supermarket car parks and the like
-Fewer aftermarket accessories and smaller dealer network. Some owners have reported delays getting parts from Japan.
-Economy can be poor in heavily modified examples (especially series 1) but that is the case when you start modifying any 4wd with roof racks, heavy bullbars and bigger wheels etc.
- We had a noise issue from new when took some tracking down to be a faulty wheel/tyre. Unfortunately, I had to track this down myself which soured the early ownership experience a bit
-Paint quality has been an issue for some owners (ok for us so far).
-Cruise control is poor (slow to react to speed drop and adds too much throttle when it does).
Outstanding vehicle and outstanding value – This is the best 4WD I’ve owned. Previous 4WD was a Y61, the Y62 is better in every way. The ride quality is extremely comfortable and it handles like a car. The vehicle is large but has ample room for 5 adults plus the 3rd would comfortably fit 3 kids. The motor is outstanding, loads of power and fuel consumption combined of 14.5l/100 which is… Read more
the same as my Y61. 10l/100 on the freeway at 110km/h.
Being $30,000 cheaper than the problem plagued 200 series Landcruiser is just the icing on the cake.
Best 4wd Nissan ever made, best 4wd on the market – Perfect 4wd. Sooooo much better than having to worry about dusted engines, blown turbos, failing fuel systems etc the list goes on. Don't know why people keep buying the landcruiser 200 they're just overpriced POS. Y62 suspension=better, fuel consumption=same, interior dimensions=better, engine=better everything is just better in the y62. Oh and… Read more
it's about 20k cheaper. Handling is absolutely the best, reliability is the best, air con is made for the Middle East so very fast to cool down. Only downside is having every 200 owner try to justify their 200 purchase and why they didn't get the y62
Great car until you reach 100 000klms – I purchased my Y62 in August 2014 with 33 000klms on it, the vehicle has 97 000klms on the clock now and the Alternator has disintegrated! with a replacement value of over $2500. I approached Nissan for a goodwill gesture getting a very poor response. A car of this level should last a lot longer and customer service should be fantastic. Show details
