Been with NRMA for 18 years. Fantastic. Cannot fault them – I have been with NRMA for 18 years now. I have moved every policy possible in with them as you get bigger and bigger discounts the more policies you include. I always compare with other insurers. Some may be marginally cheaper but its not worth it as NRMA have always been so easy to deal with and very quick to deal with issues. The best value is… Read more ·  1

the roadside assist membership. I have never waited more than half an hour. One time I had bald tyres apparently as I don't check those things and the NRMA guy advised me to get them fixed as they were illegal after one had gone flat. Another time I locked my keys in the car. I found the local off duty NRMA guy at the pub and he came out and got my keys out for me, very kind considering I was imposing on his time off. Thank you. Thank you NRMA fix it guys.

Complete Stuff Up! – Was with NRMA since compulsory health insurance started. They suddenly decided for some weird, unexplained reason that my husband was (wrongly) ineligible for health insurance at the same rate after a couple of years so decided to deduct a higher amount from my account, without informing me and without my consent. When I informed them of their… Read more

gigantic stuff up, they informed me that they could only refund via cheque as they needed my written consent to refund the money via my bank account. To sum it up - they wrongly deducted the money without my consent, but couldn't put it back in with my consent??? No apology or reason was forthcoming. I changed health funds that very same day. You screwed up NRMA, an apology should have been your first reply.

Over 12 years they have been great – I think the test of a good insurance company comes when you try to claim. We have claimed twice in 12 years (1 for a vehicle accident, 1 for home damage after a storm) both claims were for a substantial amount. To our surprise we found the whole process went very smoothly and quickly, everybody that we dealt with was extremely helpful. We have… Read more

heard all sorts of horror stories about other companies when our friends have tried to claim, but based on our experience we would definitely recommend NRMA. They were there when you needed them, at claim time.

Excellent – I have been with NRMA health insurance for 2 years now and have no intention to switch to any other funds. I have recommended it to my friends and they are all really happy with the service and value. I'm with the most basic cover and it is really cheap and has all the basic needs covered. Now I only pay $13.54 per month and I have always claimed… Read more

more than that value every year. Also we can use HICAP service wherever applicable so we can claim at the spot. We have to claim via mail only, but they provide "reply paid" postage though.

Terrible – On multiple occasions they have mailed my information to my old address- including a cheque for the first claim i ever submitted. The rigmarole that entailed was unbelievable. They were unable to cancel and re-issue the cheque for a full month. I had already arranged for my claims to be direct debited into my acount- which i re-iterated. A month… Read more

later I called to be informed that a cheque had been posted again-to the incorrect address again- and that it had been 'presented' and cashed!! They asked if i might have cashed it and forgotten about it- I pointed out it had again been sent to the wrong address and so it was impossible. SO FRUSTRATING! After this, they also sent my tax cert to the same incorrect address. Utterly hopeless!

Poor service, poor communication between departments- dont follow through with service.

Good – I have been with NRMA health insurance since its inception and have watched their product get more expensive. When they first started operating their health insurance, they paid 100% cost of the 'extras' service, be it massage, chiro, etc. It didn't take long to reduce that to 90% (and didn't change the premium), and it has gone down since then. … Read more

I have since dropped down to a more basic private hospital and basic benefits cover as I don't use the extras cover as much anymore. The hospital cover has been excellent and I have made several claims on that where they have paid 100% with me making a co-payment. Ability to get cheaper house/car/contents/other insurance because of my health policy with NRMA, friendly staff, ability to pay monthly/quarterly/half yearly or yearly with no additional fees, good range of cover. Not able to claim direct from their NRMA branches, premium price goes up too frequently.
