Oculus quest 2 headset software update required issue – I recently bought an Oculus quest 2 headset, I created a new Meta account, downloaded the Oculus mobile app to my phone, when I try to pair the headset to the Oculus mobile app I get a software update required message, the issue is there is no way to update the required software, I contacted Oculus support who say they are aware of this global… Read more

issue and they're engineers are working on resolving this issue, they cannot give me any indication of how long it will take to resolve the issue. I have been waiting 8 days so far and still no fix. This is very frustrating after paying hundreds of dollars for this headset.

Getting the Quest to work is a bit of a lottery. I have finger cramps from keeping them crossed! – Constant connection issues, apps not working or locking up. Very buggy. If they put as much effort into making the software and hardware work as they did their annoying multi stage authentication security system and their push notifications of games, then we might have a system worth using. Now it's just a talking point paperweight. Show details

Pray it works – I’ve had a quest 2 for almost 2 years with no problems. I bought a second one for visitors and friends to use. This second headset did not work properly. After troubleshooting failed, customer ‘support’ agreed it did not work but refused an exchange, or repair, or refund. They tried to claim I’d bought it from a 3rd party after first wasting my… Read more

time with a stream of nonsense emails written by bots or people who don’t like to read.

They offered to replace it with a second-hand device with no refund of the price difference between new and second-hand. By this time I obviously had decided I wouldn’t be recommending this to anyone in case they have this experience. I went through PayPal dispute resolution and the outcome was that I can get a refund but I have to pay for the postage to return the defective item. That’s $70. Now to see if I actually get the refund or not.

I strongly recommend you don’t deal with Facebook Technologies aka Oculus aka Meta if you chose to buy one of these. If they are not available in your country or perhaps through Amazon(?), give it a miss.

Great Tech, The WORST Customer Support I've Ever Experienced – I have had the Oculus 2 for over a year now and purchased extras, plus got 2 more for my kids. Great product and visual experience. Although I WOULD NOT recommend their product in any way until they remove compulsory Facebook account linking. My Facebook account was hacked, disabled by FB for breaching their terms of use (done by the hackers) and… Read more

after requesting a review, shutdown then deleted after 30 days because no FB staff reviewed the request. Any account issues with Oculus support are directed to Facebook, and their "support" is slow, automated and ineffectual. My issue was not solved, I lost my account plus hundreds of dollars in purchased games tied to that account. Plus, because you need to have a credit card or PayPal tied to your Facebook account when my account was hacked they spent $256 in Facebook ads to promote their online scams.

Before you buy, think of this, if you don't have a friend or family member who has had a Facebook account hacked then buy an Oculus, but I'm betting you have. If you have an issue with this that is FB Account related, you WILL NOT get support from Facebook, they are not interested.

Still waiting on product 7 months after ordering – Poor service and no product after 7 months Avoid. Avoid. Avoid! Still yet to receive product. Contact them each week to request refund or action to my product in which a litany of pathetic excuses are passed on, if at all. Incredible that such a large company can perform in such a manner Will be contacting Fair Trading

Bad experience – I have heard a lot of good things about Oculus and my friends talked me in to buying one and I have to admit that the VR experience is amazing BUT just hope/pray/beg that you don't have any issues with it. It was working fine in the beginning but after a software update there has been nothing but issues with it. While in games or just browsing… Read more

around in the menu it everything keeps moving around by itself. I tried a factory reset and many other things without luck until I decided to contact Oculus support. I have to say that their support is among the worst I have had to deal with. They might be great if you don't have a complicated issue but I have had to go through a tedious two week process of troubleshooting until they finally decided to replace my left hand controller. I have now waited another 15 working days for my new controller since I sent the old one back to them so today I decided to contact them to get an update but they had none to give me. They can see that is been delivered to the factory but nothing has been sent out and now they are trying to follow up on it.

This is a process, according to them, that should have taken 3-5 working days.

If you do decide to buy an Oculus I really hope that you get a good one and can enjoy the experience.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced – Don't be fooled by their revolutionary product (which is fantastic). The moment I relied on Oculus to provide any kind of support, the illusion that they are a great company crumbled. I purchased an elite strap with battery for my Oculus Quest 2, but quickly discovered a better and more comfortable strap, so I exercised my right to a return within… Read more

30 days. I was advised a return shipping label would be emailed to me within 3 days. That was about six weeks ago. After three days, I followed up, and kept following up because nobody was willing or able to provide even an explanation of what was happening, let alone resolve the issue. Looking at the Oculus support forums, it seems this utter failure of support is very common. My advice to anybody interested in purchasing a device from Oculus is to purchase elsewhere. There are other, far more reputable companies, selling the same products, who provide good service. Don't say you weren't warned.
