1 Nadeem  · Don't waste your money on this every 2 days i need to change battery due to not switching off. Loads of people have the same issue. Need to get a refund
1 gypsyduo  · Terrible – Would only work sometimes and gave different readings. Couldn't get the sound to work.
1 Nadia  · Do not buy! – Inaccurate readings. The middle of the forehead read 38c and slightly to the right 40.5c!!!!! Battery was gone in two days.

Expensive dosen't mean it is good. Sh*t design and a failure because of the design – Worst design without any doubt. 1. This sh*t device use battry CR2032 which is a nightmare. I have no idea why they choose to use CR2032 for this device. This is so wrong. CR2032 battery is way harder to find when you need one at home and way more expensive to purchase. And the battery doesn't last long. I have replaced the battery twice and it is… Read more

such a pain in the *ss. You need a small head screw driver to open the battery compartment cover to do the replacement.

2. And the function of the device is very hard to understand and use. It has only 2 buttons "ON/MEM" and "start". but to use it properly you have to read the instructions printed in small characters again and again whennever you want to use it simply because it isn't designed in a very intuitive way to use.

Suggestions. 1. Use AAA battery instead of CR2032. And put a real "OFF" mode instead of display the room temp which consume battery all the time. I have to tell you whenever I need to use the device it is low on battery and I doubt it is because of the contant display of the room temp.

2. Try not to design the device with so many functions but only 2 buttons. It is not user friendly when you have to remember the combination of these 2 buttons and sequences of pressing them to active or change mode. Adding more buttoms on the device for toggling mode will make it much easier to understand how to use it. Try to design a device a user can use it properly only after reading the user manual once or maybe no need to read user manual at all (BETTER).

Omron have great brand presence, but unfortunately is let down by this product. Very short battery life, 3 new button batteries installed in less than two weeks. Constantly going flat. a no brainer for the manufacturer. After paying such a hi price I am very disappointed with this product. Am happy to pay for quality. But this is not a quality product.

CHILD SWALLOWED BATTERY DUE TO FLAWS IN SAFETY AND DESIGN – PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT As a parent of young children I understand and thought I took all precautions when handing changing and storing button batteries. Last week my 2 year old son managed to grab the thermometer off the kitchen bench and within minutes had the battery out and swallowed it. Like many other who have complained about the… Read more

high volume of batteries it uses. I too found myself in the middle of the night after not using in for many weeks possibly months that when we needed it for our screaming two year old. It was in fact flat. We changed the battery and my partner was standing with me as I put it back together with the screw. We used it pretty consistently for the next 10 days as we went from one bout of tonsillitis to the next. Not once was there any indication the screw had come loose or was not tightened enough. Or the back coming off. But somewhere within that time the screw has fallen out and enabled our child to access the battery compartment. I suggest if you do own this product and wish to continue using it that you immediately lock it in a gun safe as the potential damage it can cause when swallow is horrific injuries and potential and traumatic and very painful death. Look up Bella’s footprint or watch the Australian story on the damage these products do. Shame on you OMRON. A once a trusted product I felt was safe to have in our home after having used 2 ear thermometers which never failed over many years in the safety compartments of the batteries prior to the purchase of this loaded gun. Finding the reviews on here clearly pointing out the faults in the battery’s high turnover and catching people when most needed being flat and pointing out the battery storage design. You are clearly aware as you have responded to some. If product is not taken off the shelf and continues to be sold, it will cause a death or serious injury due to flaws and faulty design. SHAME ON YOU OMRON! The battery had to be surgically removed from my child and it’s only through sheer luck that I’m not planning my child’s funeral this evening! WAKE UP AND REMOVE IT FROM THE SHELVES IMMEDIATELY

Your better off guessing the temperature – I purchased my Omron MC720 from Chemist Warehouse in Bentley for $64.49. I was aware that it takes a button battery and I didn’t mind so much because it’s something I wouldn’t use too often. Other similar products come with AAA batteries and I was worried that the AAA batteries would go bad and leak after sitting unused for several months. The… Read more

first time I used my Omron MC720 I realised it was complicated to use and was not a good product. It was 4 degrees different from my other two thermometers. I pointed at my sons forehead and it was telling me his temperature was over 40 degrees.

The next day I took it back to Chemist Warehouse with the receipt and I was told by the manager that I couldn’t have a refund, he told me Omron were difficult and it must be sent to Omron so they determine if it is faulty. I filled out the paperwork with my details and explained that the inaccurate readings will be in the memory.

Whilst in Chemist Warehouse I searched for another thermometer but this time I checked the reviews with my phone. I found another brand that had great reviews and it was a similar price. I then approached the manager and asked it I could just swap it for the faulty Omron MC720. He took the Omron MC720 and tested it on his colleges foreheads and understood how inaccurate it was and he reluctantly agreed to the swap.

I am dissatisfied with Omron and I will steer clear from any of their other products in the future.

Great Customer Care Team Response – Omcrons Customer Care Team were quick to reply to my review and supply assistance. Was not aware that the MC-720 temperature device always displayed room temperature when turned off without quickly depleting battery - that problems now fixed... My alarm still does not sound following instructions so rating is now revised to 4/5. Will contact the Customer Care team for further trouble shooting on this issue and report progress here. Show details ·  1

Perfectly fine digital thermometer – There seems to be a basic misunderstanding on how to operate this thermometer. Here's the easy guide for basic operation: 1. Briefly press and release ON/MEM once to turn on the unit (Important: Do not hold this button on) 2. The unit will beep twice within 2 seconds. It is now ready to take a temperature. 3. Hold 1-3cms from forehead and press… Read more ·  1

(and immediately release) START (Do not hold the button on). 4. The unit will beep once and display the temperature 5. After 6 seconds the unit will beep twice and is ready to take another temperature. 6. Turn off the unit by pressing AND HOLDING the ON/MEM button until "OFF" appears in the display. This may take up to 10 seconds. Turning the unit off correctly will ensure improved battery life.

Good no touch forehead thermometer – I bought this as our other forehead Thermometer broke and was and Was no good anyway. I find that sometimes I can give a varying range of temperature but I found that if you try to keep it the same distance from the forehead each time you take the temperature it stays pretty much the same I tried this on as adults as well and by doing it this way gave the same reading when taken within the minute.

A pretty good "No Touch Thermometer" – This thermometer has been very useful for measuring the temperature of infants, children and adults. Previously I used a tympanic thermometer but wanted to avoid having to constantly replace the probe covers and also the "No Touch" thermometer is very handy for infants, or anyone with an aversion to having things pocked in their ears.… Read more

Measurements are consistent with less than 0.4 degrees difference found due to operator technique, typically 0.1 or 0.2 degrees difference due to aiming technique. It is compact and easy to use. It is not the cheapest but definitely not the dearest of its' type. A drawback is that it uses a 'coin' battery instead of 'AAA', however, it is now over 12 months old and still going strong.

Worst, most unreliable thermometer, ever – This product is so frustrating!! Nothing is more stressful than having a sick baby and when you need this thing to work, it doesn’t! If it works at all, sometimes it just says low, it’s always different to the reads I get from other devices. . Then it gives error messages when you try to check a few times. The batteries are always flat when you… Read more

If you buy this, you’ll need a Blood Pressure Monitor, because the battery will die by the next time you need it – Designed so that the expensive CR2032 Battery dies between use. Had to dig up the previous ‘old’ thermometer that still had a working battery after 3+ years. Major design flaw (planned obsolescence) as the manufacturer assumes you will, out of curiosity, want to know the room temperature 24/7 for 6 months until the CR2032 button battery dies. … Read more

[That’s right, it actually stays on 24/7. It won’t turn off. There is no off button.]

2nd time this has happened. The online manual tells you ‘how to turn it off’, but it does not actually turn off, even when you follow the instructions. Only bought this expensive product as we have a Omron Blood Pressure Monitor.

Useless when you need to use it due to design flaw – As stated by other users this thermometer has a huge design flaw that makes it completely useless. It tries to measure the room temp even when not in use (There is no off switch), so when you actually need it to measure body temperature, the battery is always flat. Designers simply don't understand the point of the product which is to measure body… Read more

Worst product!! – It gives wrong measurements. Even if you have a high fever, it will show normal temperature. It is dangerous as you will not take medication based on the readings. I sent it to Omron service but they didn't do anything and returned saying that it is ok. Pathetic service and product!! Don't buy. Show details

Not recommended – 1. Is not user friendly (in terms of buttons functionality) 2. Always power-on even when I power off and put it inside the box (always showing environment temperature) and drains battery power. I had to change the battery every few month just for a few temperature measurement.

Worse than having no thermometer at all – This product has serious design flaws to the point of being dangerous. 1 - battery life is terrible. Lasts about 6 months without use. When you actually need to use it to see if your child has a high fever or just feels warm to the touch there is a good chance it's dead. 2 - Uses CR2032 batteries so when you do invariably run out of battery… Read more

there is a good chance you don't have a CR2032 just laying around.

3 - User interface is complex. Manufacturer has cut cost and reduced the buttons down to two so you will need to read the instructions every time you use it.

4 - Memory function can give you a previous temperature reading in lieu of reading the actual temperature. This is dangerous whereby it can incorrectly tell you a child's temperature is 37 degrees Celsius from it's memory when it is actually 40 degrees C obscuring a high fever.

5 - backlight only functions in certain situations - not helpful if you are trying to read a child's temp at night without turning on all the lights.

Cannot be switched off! – People buy this product for body temperature measurement, who cares if it measures room temperature or not? The device cannot be switched off, measuring room temperature non-stop, drawing battery life, then one day when you want to use it for body temperature measurement which can be critical, you find the battery died, and you search everywhere… Read more

to find that small screwdriver needed to take the battery cover off so that you can replace the battery, which is a not so common type 2032... In my opinion this is a terrible product and the feature is totally against users' expectation of a body temperature thermometer.

Oh I wanted to return this and the retailer checked with the distributor, who claims the ambient temperature is used as benchmark value for body temperature measurement, and my request for return is declined. So it needs a 24/7 benchmark for a measurement taken within 1 second? Genius!

If i could give it ZERO stars i would – What you expect from an infrared temperature probe is (1) simplicity and ease of use (2) accuracy (3) reliability The OMRON MC720 fails in (1) and (3). I have not tested the accuracy (2) of the unit. So with all this COVID hanging around, a touchless infrared thermometer is pretty much standard arsenal for one these days. CONS - first time… Read more

using, kept getting Err 9, did what it said and reseated the battery (which you need a small philips screwdriver for .. a negative). Made no difference. So then replaced the batter, which initially made no difference, but then decided to 'work'. - Now it uses the standard old LCD display, which is NOT backlit for changing settings etc, but ONLY comes on when you take a forehead reading... for some reason OMRON believes that whilst the screen is unreadable to the average person without the background light, one should be able to read it when you are trying to set units of measurement, memory etc... - The buzzer... it's so soft that unless you are in a quite room, you have buckleys chance of hearing it.... now my hearing is fine - The manual... terrible. For example.. to take a forehead reading, the manual says.. 'blah blah blah, then press the START button..... when in actual fact what one has to do it PRESS and HOLD the start button untilyou strain to hear a long beep.

PROS - it looks good.

Look i could go and on... but save your money... Don't buy this unit. It's clumsy, not user friendly, poorly designed.
