when it comes to cancelling membership at one playground it a nightmare the staff/ membership consultants have no clue stay away money continually comes out of your account getting your money back takes forever even if you try to reach out to higher management no one is professional enough in the business to take the issue on hand and sort it, everything get passed on to the next clown of the organisation. STAY AWAY FROM MERRYLANDS ONE PLAYGROUND

I signed up at One Playground in North Sydney and to my surprise, The Contract sum agreed when I signed the contract to the amount debited from my account was three time the amount agreed ($169) What makes it worst nobody seems to even pick up the phone when I called to clarify the situation. I regret signing with this gym

I booked a mental health fundraiser and breathwork event at One Playground, but it was one of the most unorganised experiences I’ve had. I arrived about 16–17 minutes late due to travel delays (took an expensive Uber from Brighton, $35), but no one… Read more

was at reception to help. I had to search online to find another entrance, only to be told to go back to the original location. Even then, no staff were there to assist.

Thankfully I had a staff member’s number, but when I called, I was told I couldn’t join because I was late. It was extremely frustrating, especially for a mental health-focused event. No clear signage, no support, and zero understanding of the challenges attendees might be facing.

I ended up wasting time, energy, and money — and left feeling worse than before. Really disappointed.

Follow-up  · The manager called; said will give an update for follow up; but never heard back even since. They give 0 f##ks about personal mental health; instead over the phone try to get me to create a membership; what a joke.

Coming to this gym makes my day! – The staff is super friendly and welcoming, it really feels like being part of a family or community, great equipment which allows me to have a solid and varied routine with my workouts, there's plenty of classes to choose from and I loved the atmosphere and sense of inclusion I got from it from the first to the last I did, every time I leave the gym I'm looking forward to the next time I'll be coming. Can't leave without it now! <3

Signed up to a ‘foundation membership’ at the new Haymarket gym literally 6 months before they opened. Offered a ‘cheap’ price to lock into 12 months or a more expensive weekly debit to cancel anytime contract- I went with the more expensive so I wasn’t locked in, so $63 being debited every fortnight instead of the ‘foundation membership super… Read more

deal’. Tried to cancel within 2 weeks of the gym opening because you cannot get into a class. Doesn’t matter when I log on, I can’t get in. Tried to cancel and was given all these ‘tricks’ to try. Managed to book into a class so kept the membership. Tried to attend the class, was there on time and at the studio door but someone pretended to be me and snaked my spot, the instructor saw the full class and shut the door, I knocked with another girl obviously in the same boat, but we were ignored. Tried to cancel the membership again, the manager was nice and apologetic and gave me a month free and physically booked me in to 4 classes using his special access. Attended the classes and haven’t been able to book in again in the last 2 weeks. Tried to cancel today as I’m literally paying for nothing. Have been told that despite me paying extra every week, I’m locked into a contract and now have to give notice and pay out?? Tried to call the gym and got attitude from some girl who’s told me I have to come in to cancel because I’m locked in. How am I locked in when I’ve been paying extra to be to able to cancel whenever I want. That’s the point of paying extra. She’s quoting some contract I apparently signed with some guy named Brad (like I know who this guy is) but wasn’t given a copy of. The whole thing is so gross and so sneaky, I am so done with this place.

The worst gym I could ever try – The worse experience, they have so many hidden fees than even after cancel you have to continue paying, at the beginning it was okay I have even pay extra to them when I sign up just to cancel when ever I want, the instructors are rude and no respectful ,

Terrible customer service, overcrowded, and overpriced – Extremely crowded and for the price you get equipment that is no better than a Fitness First. They also make it very difficult to cancel.

No such thing as off peak, critically saturated & debit your account without consent – Over saturation of subscriptions to the point of not worth it. I wish I had seen reviews before going. Go between midnight and 4 am maybe its ok. My experience at two locations, Newtown and Marrickville . Their own Personal Trainers kicked me off machines as they were doing super sets, one was on my 4 am visit, I was using the machine first. Often… Read more

you can't use machines due to people reserving with their phone, water bottle or shirt. This is encouraged here, taught to newcomers by trainers. so, it adds massively to prolonging and preventing your work out. I can be patient when the gym is busy but confrontations I cannot do. Aggressive sales for PT sessions, auto debiting without informed consent, they billed for 6 PT sessions despite they agreed to bill for only one session as per my initial and repeated request. Worse still they debited from the BSB ac they promised to not use and delete once they had my cc dets. Yeah, dumb giving BSB ac I know, but on first visit for tour I didn't have cc and they assured me they would delete this account and swap for cc. They failed to rectify. Glad they messed up early on so I could escape the inevitable imminent collapse of Super Subscribed fallout. They get you by the short and curlies from before you enter, they demand banking dets before stepping in for first tour. Gyms depend on people subscribing and not attending, but this gym chain has surpassed critical subscription level, always crowded. Many say the classes are booked out weeks in advance, hard to get into. I'd rather shit in my hands and clap instead of undergoing the cancellation challenges again. Better off with a home gym.

Oversubscribed + a lack of gym etiquette – Posted about this on Google reviews over a month ago…. Received a voicemail saying it was being addressed, but all I’ve seen since are more members being signed up. If you can work out between 10:00-11:30 or 13:30 and 16:30, this gym is awesome. If not, avoid at all costs. It’s so oversubscribed it’s infuriating + there’s a lot of people… Read more

reserving stations while they go and do other workouts (some are doing supersets, but others are just reserving stations to avoid having to queue when moving through their program).

You will need to adapt your workout on the fly to train here… or expect to add about 20 mins to your workout time waiting for stations to become available.

Cannot wait for my membership to expire. Shame, because it used to be a really decent gym.

Great gym but customer service is a bit hopeless – I love going to this gym but when it comes to sorting out admin things like payment or access to the membership app, the staffs are hopeless. I recently returned to this gym a few months ago so i had an existing membership with them. They took forever to sort out the fact that i had a duplicate account on their app membership and i had to sort… Read more

the issue out myself to be able to book classes. This is something the admin staffs should be able to do but i found that they’re incredibly slow to be able to sort out the problem.

Another recent instance is i changed my bank so had to update my new bank details. They sent me through a form via email to update my details and even though i filled out the form TWICE, they seem to not be able to locate my new details. They need to sort out their email/CRM system because it is a waste of customers’ time going back and forth.

Oversubscribed, unfriendly gym – Joined the Marrickville gym after lockdown ended. Unfortunately, I did not do a trial and after attending the gym a few times, I realised it was incredibly over-subscribed. Seemingly, the staff were 'too busy' to give me any kind of induction. After signing up after 2 weeks I tried to cancel my membership, but was told it was too late - the… Read more

cancellation period is only 7 days, so I was stuck with the membership for a full year. Staff ghost you as soon as you sign up, PTs won't even acknowledge you exist, they play music so loud you can't hear your own. All in all, I can't think of one redeeming feature that I like about this gym.

My happy place! – I love the atmosphere in this place and as someone who is training for years, the machines and equipment are top notch. The music can be a bit hit and miss but other than that this is a solid gym :)

Love this gym (and I’m not a gym person) – I’m not usually a gym person but my experience with Fitness Playground has been great. I love the variety of classes. The trainers are great - they are friendly, knowledgeable and are creative in how they instruct classes. It’s great value for money since you get classes included in the cost (including barre and Pilates!). The vibe is welcoming and everyone I’ve trained with at the gym have been super friendly.

Awesome gym, friendly staff, great variety of classes and equipment – I'm having a great time working out at the Fitness Playground locations in Surry Hills. Really great staff at both locations, and I've tried a variety of classes, a PT session, and some Push-Pull-Leg workouts on the equipment. It's all been a really solid experience.

Avoid at all costs – Fitness Playground operates as a predatory business model that will reel you in with their facilities and promises of a “free” trial but then hold you and your credit card details hostage. Do not fall for the free trial they are currently advertising, they make you submit your credit card details and make it extremely hard to leave. This kind of business model should be left in the past. Never again.

They got money from my account and do not respond my emails for refund – I suspended my plan due to the closure of the gym - Covid. not active, I have never informed them that I was going back to the gym so I’m requesting to cancel a SUSPENDED plan, they have no rights to get money when I have never decided to go back to the gym.

I have sent 3 emails and they are just not getting back to me at all, that’s not acceptable, I just wanna cancel my plan which was already suspend to begin with as I’m moving out from the area and I’m 9 months pregnant. I want my money back that they charged me for no reason leaving my bank account on negative as I did not have this planned.

Fitness Playground, get back to my emails!

Refusing to refund member dues during pandemic against ACCC laws – Refusing to refund money they took from members during the pandemic. The ACCC website clearly states that gyms should refund money taken from members, yet you're refusing to do so. This is dishonest conduct that directly contradicts the ACCC website. Dodgy - will not you cancel – Avoid this company - keep charing you during lockdown and wont let you cancel. Wrote to met have to pay off my fees during lockdown when no service was provided or they will not cancel. Dodgiest company I've dealt with.
