Horribly poor MF971LS ,. Unreliable and expensive . Do Not buy – I too have had a modem MF971ls from OPtus . Its is the worst modem failing to stay on line and with very poor battery life . I had a telstra similar 4GX modem prior to the optus rubbish and it was terrific, long battery life and terrific 4g stability and but foolishly swapped it for this Optus reject

No I am sorry, too late . I have closed the account. I spoke with your customer service team in india numerous times and they were no help at all. The modem was an older version and only worked properly in 3G but I only found that out from my technician , not from Optus .

Worst purchase I have ever made in ALL my life (DOB 12/081948) – 1 does not install correctly. Had to take it back to OPTUS shop. 3 staff frigged with it for about 1hr and then announced to me my laptop was faulty. It was not. I have a Telstra MODEM that works just fine (for the past 5 years) Explained I was moving to OPTUS as OPTUS data plan is substantially cheaper. Staff finally got it sort of working 2 runs very hot. Skin temp measured at 54deg C. This is usually an indication of a faulty battery. Battery never gets past 70% charged 3 drops off line randomly around every 3 to 4 hrs . You have to shut it down and re-boot to get it to go again. 4 I was flim-flamed into buying a new phone. I repeatedly stated NO No NO....NO new phone, I just want the $50 data plan. OPTUS response "what if we get you $50 , 220GB data plan and throw in a phone for free. so naturally I said yes When the phone arrived I now find I am CONTRACTED to OPTUS for 3 years, as the free phone was a package deal. What a flim-flam And so it goes on and on KEEP WELL AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT

OPTUS Portable Modem - Model MF971LS, does not reach full charge - AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE – Received this OPTUS Portable Modem - Model MF971LS today, and not only could one NOT set it up as per the instructions provided, after I inserted the micro-USB card into the OPTUS Portable Modem - Model MF971LS, I could not get it to work! Used the $50 bonus data card provided in box with this OPTUS Portable Modem - Model MF971LS. Then I learned that it had to be activated, but there is no way to activate the card on this OPTUS Portable Modem - Model MF971LS modem! Went to the OPTUS card activation site, and went through the process until it asked me for the PHONE NUMBER, which was not provided on the card, or actual DATA card? I could not proceed there.

Everything I did was to no avail, so thinking I put the card in incorrectly, and learning that it WAS put in correctly, I found that I could not re insert the card because the card would not stay locked in! It kept popping out!

Only have to see my pic's below and see where this rubbish is made, and all begins to make sense!

And as is customary with OPTUS, the OVERSEAS technical support "experts" had no friggin idea what I was talking about, in fact when I rang the technical support number was connected to SALES, and then when THEY put me through finally to the so-called technical support "experts", I was cut off mid way because it was 6pm! OPTUS technical PHONE support finishes at 6PM! They call that service?????

Thats right, you can be halfway through a conversation and ARROGANT OPTUS just CUT'S YOU OFF! And on the merry-go-round went after trying to "chat" with them on their 24-hour support page, and having arthritis, I just couldn't go on with THAT! By the way OPTUS, "CHAT" is TALK, when you actually physically SPEAK to someone, what OPTUS calls "chat" is actually TEXTING!

ALSO, when I purchased this OPTUS Portable Modem - Model MF971LS from the OPTUS shop online, they never even sent me a confirmation email, online receipt, NOTHING.

I got this modem because I am having INCREDIBLE problems with OPTUS mobile internet and I only live 2000 meters from the center of the CITY OF TOWNSVILLE!

Here I am today ringing all these OPTUS numbers because OPTUS does not have a number for organizing returns to get a replacement for a faulty product hence, this OPTUS Portable Modem - Model MF971LS THAT THEY SELL! I kid you not, HOURS AND HOURS of ringing different OPTUS numbers the merry-go-round of being put through to different so-called "EXPERTS" and STILL no resolution! It's madness!

MAIN PROBLEM with the OPTUS PORTABLE MODEM is it never reaches full charge. The shoddy OPTUS Portable Modem - Model MF971LS MADE IN CHINA power supply just cannot deliver enough to charge this OPTUS PORTABLE MODEM past TWO BARS! It always cuts out when it reaches between two and one bar.

ARROGANT OPTUS does not even monitor this review website like so many other REPUTABLE companies do! They don't give a fig.

How can these $%#*&!! keep their license to operate in this country? Why wont the NEW feral government allow other overseas players into Australia to create competition? There are US companies that can set up overnight! I'll tell you all why, POLITICAL PARTY DONATION $$$, lobbyists preventing competition and we all know that the only thing politicians are interested in is feathering their own nests!

I STRONGLY STRONGLY STRONGLY STRONGLY STRONGLY STRONGLY advise against buying OPTUS products from the OPTUS website not only because they are because they are as SHODDY as OPTUS, but because there is no contact information on the site where product was purchased or who to call if the product is FAULTY!

Would also love to hear if anyone else is having charging issues with the OPTUS Portable Modem - Model MF971LS, maybe we can get together for a class action in the Federal Court of Australia to call for a National product recall citing the flaws in this OPTUS Portable Modem - Model MF971LS.

Purchased in for $99.

No, you are "sorry" someone has put this sim popping out problem out here in the public domain to warn others! You arrogant OPTUS support "experts" that I was passed around to over a DOZEN TIMES are a JOKE! Even SALES has moved OVERSEAS, and Corporate Office in Australia does not want to hear our problems, hence them shoving all communications OVERSEAS for THEM to deal with. OPTUS is an ASS, and ARROGANT one at that! Don't bother me again, I told your lot and the so called SUPERVISORS and COMPLAINTS baboons what I am doing next and that is having you in COURT for breach of CONSUMER LAW! You vermin do not even have a direct number for the online OPTUS STORE so if a product is FAULTY we can contact them DIRECTLY for a QUICK AND EASY REPLACEMENT, without having to call 6 different numbers and be transferred to over a DOZEN different "EXPERT" baboons full of sorry's! LAW SAYS, YOU SELL A FAULTY PRODUCT, YOU F'n REPLACE IT! and FCUK YOUR CONSUMER TORTURING PROCEDURE! PETER TOWNSVILLE post code 4814

Let me explain further the REASON I am so P11SED OFF with OPTUS. I have mobile reception problems moving to my new abode, and data transfer speeds are a JOKE, especially being about 2000 meters from the center of the CITY! An OPTUS resolutions manager got me to buy this portable modem to see if it would fix the problem, OPTUS' PROBLEM, and he reimbursed me for this modem via my OPTUS ACCOUNT by placing a credit for the cost of this junk. Well, modem turns up, and well, reading the above you will see the problems I had. A kick in me nut's, adding INSULT TO INJURY! Well YESTERDAY I purchased ANOTHER ONE because I was told by the resolutions man that he has never heard of this problem outlined above happening before. I should be receiving it today according to Australia Post! The process of dealing with faulty products should not be this punishing to your sheep, (sorry) CUSTOMERS!
