The worst and most unreliable thermometer we have ever owned. When needed at the most critical moment in winter it will always come up as L16 error. When we finally get it working, the temperature reading is very off and inaccurate which is very dangerous when our child has a high grade fever. How this product passed TGA is beyond us. Works well when it works – I constantly get the L16 error even when it is 18 degrees in the house. It's so frustrating how unreliable this thermometer is. Show details
This is super handy – Super easy to use, great to have on hand for new born and the family - brings so much peace of mind ! Show details · 1
Poor Inconsistent Readings – Poor readings and sometimes won’t even read at all if the surrounding temperature is too cold. Brought to the GP and tested against their thermometer and it’s way off….AVOID Show details

Great thermometer until the room temp drops below 16deg – I found this thermometer great until I moved house and also stopped using the heater all night when my son got a bit older. New house gets much colder, so overnight I could not get this thermometer to work. And could not work out why until I did some digging and found a few similar reviews. Very frustrating when you are trying to check your little ones temp. Would not recommend this product. Show details

Very consistent readings and reliable – This is a great thermometer. Did alot of research before I bought it. Its very consistent and I can actually rely on it, unlike some ear thermometers that give inconsistent readings. Also because this measures at the temple its more accurate then a forehead thermometer. Its one of the better thermometers I've purchased. Easy to use especially at night when kids sleep. Immediate regret – I wish I had heeded the warnings from previous reviewers that the device doesn't work when the room temp is below 16 C. Winter and flu season is generally when you need it. I bought this in winter and it will not function at all. Given the price of the unit, there are better alternatives. Show details
Accurate & peace of mind – We have been using this on the adults & newborn in our house. We had covid a few weeks ago & this gave us peace of mind to make sure our newborn didn’t get a temperature. Show reply
Fast, accurate & versatile thermometer – The display is easy to read because it has large, high contrast, backlit numbers. The unit starts quickly, takes a measurement quickly & gives audible feedback to say it has done so, then shuts off to save the battery. Accuracy is probably good - at least, measurements of the same source taken within a few seconds of each other are almost always… Read more · 1
identical to within 0.1 degrees. This unit is unusual in that it can also be switched to other modes for non-contact measurement of objects at much higher and lower temperatures than the human body. Great for finding hot & cold spots when assessing energy use in buildings, for example.
Very good customer service – I bought an HFS100 that wasn't working properly but I contacted the company and they replaced it promptly. The new unit is great, Daniel in customer service was a pleasure to deal with. I would highly recommend purchasing from this company. Show details · 1
Amazing – Easy to use, accurate, and feels like I’m living in the future. I’m the Medical Officer in Star Trek that I always dreamed of being. The ergonomic design is a bonus! Show details · 1
Disappointed – I am disappointed with this product as every time I go to use it comes up with the house icon and says Lo 16 and it takes me about 5minutes to warm up the device before it will give me a reading which is very annoying. Show details

Good Thermometer but would change one thing – When you turn sound off for the readings it still beeps on shutdown. Also uses an excessive amount of batteries. Could do with some extra grip as I find it slippery. Otherwise a good unit Show details · 1

good device, good price – Fast and easy to use. Sleek design and the display is easily read. I can use it easily on my sensory defensive child, it's quiet. Uses AA batteries instead of button. Fast delivery, ordered from Oricom website. Show details · 1
good device for home use – very usable and accurate good value for the cost and how many words doI have left to tell you any thing more but it seems to be coming up fast Show details · 1
After a fair few duds, this is a winner! – After purchasing or being given several different thermometers, this one far exceeded expectation. I'm.so happy with it . We were using a traditional under the arm style but my daugther was so distraught using it during times when she was already so sick. This is much simpler, very accurate and has given me peace of mind. Show details · 1
Good product! – Top rated by Choice magazine (which is why I chose it) . Functions well, clear, easy to use. Colour coding very useful. Non-contact, so no germ-swapping either. I would recommend it. Show reply
Temperature is never true – Temperature isn't accurate - I took to the dr's to compare and it was off. was giving reading of 36, when daughter was actually 38. It also didnt match a reading of a friends device. Show details

Great product but doesn’t work when the environment is slightly cooler – Works great in summer when it’s 23 degrees Celsius and up. But the other day when I tried using the temperature in the house was about 16 degrees and it just wouldn’t work. Had to turn on the heat lamp in the bathroom to get it to work again Otherwise I do like this product Show details · 1
Works well – Great little gadget. Works well. Haven’t had any issues. Has always been accurate for me. Handy when bub is sleeping and I don’t want to wake her. Would certain recommend Show reply
It works fine in the right conditions – During winter the thermometer fails when the ambient temperature drops below 16C, which it frequently does in our house. Otherwise, this is a reliable, fast way to confirm your temperature. Show reply
Easy to use – Great thermometer for checking temperatures for the whole family. Don’t have to sterilise in between taking temperatures. Very easy & quick to use. Extremely valuable during COVID times - ready to go for instant readings. Really glad I purchased it Show details · 1

Inaccurate readings – Consistantly 0.9 off actual temperature. Compared with multiple doctors in-ear and forhead monitors its always off. Regretting spending so much money on a faulty product. Mislead by the reviews on here. Show details

Best Thermometer I've EVER bought! – This thermometer is so easy to use, quick enough to get a temp reading from my 3 year old and also hold memory of the last readings so it's easy to compare when tracking a fever. I also love that it came with a plastic case to keep it safe and easy to take with us wherever we go. Show details · 1
Only good in the tropics – When this works it seems fine but as soon as the ambient temperature drops below 20 degrees it won’t work. This is not stated anywhere before you purchase. So if you want to measure temps in winter it is useless and doesn’t work. Why would anyone sell a device that doesn’t work in normal winter daytime temperatures in Sydney let alone at night when you would probably want to use it!! Show details

Simply Dangerous - Please Avoid – We purchased had a Braun digital Ear thermometer for our babies (now kids) about seven years ago. The device is a bit clunky to use and requires the patients ear to be probed when tested, but it has always been reliable and accurate. When Covid-19 started kicking off early this year I wanted to get a non-contact thermometer for easier, less… Read more
intrusive temperature monitoring. After checking reviews we ended up buying the Oricom HFS1000. When we first got this we thought that it was amazing. The device turns on quickly, it measures the temperature quickly and it has a colour coded background when displaying results, ie healthy temperature shows a green back ground. We were completely stoked about this purchase. When we bought there were a few negative reviews that we saw and we figured that from our experience that they mush have been wrong, how wrong were we!
We have recently had a couple of occasions when our young kids have reported being sick. We got the new Oricom HFS1000 thermometer out, checked them and their temperature was fine and sent them on their way. One night our youngest (who has previously been carted off in an Ambulance after a Febrile Convulsion) was clearly very sick. We tested her with the Oricom thermometer and she recorded a 'Green' temperature of 36.7 degrees. It was obvious to us that she had a fever as she was very hot, we tested with the unit repeatedly and it kept returning around the same temperature. Thankfully we still had the trusty old Braun digital ear thermometer around and tried that. It showed that her temperature was 39.1 degrees! It appears that our new Oricom thermometer is completely inaccurate and down right dangerous for monitoring fevers in children. I have attached a photo of both the Braun unit showing the 39.1 degree temperature and Oricom reading the 36.7 degree fever. These were both taken simultaneously on a sick hot child.
On the 3rd of July 2020 I contacted Oricom, who were friendly to speak to but completely unfased and unworried about our experience. They were quick to point out that I could have a replacement or refund from our retailer but were not interested in investigating further. The lady that I spoke to (Janet) said that all products have the occasional failure and was not worried. I mentioned that from the reviews on this website and others that this appeared to be far more than a one off and again she appeared un-interested.
The most disappointing part of this issue is that the manufacturer is not interested in receiving our unit back to investigate and look at a type fault. I suspect that there are many units out there (possibly all) that do not indicate correctly when the patient has a fever. Due to lack of interest from the company in investigating this fault, I will be reporting this failure to the Therapeutic Goods administration. To others with similar problems I suggest that you report your concerns to the TGA through their website...
After emailing through our receipt I was promised a replacement unit would be sent. It is now the 26th of July and I have neither heard any more from the company or received a refund.

Easy to use – We purchased this thermometer because the normal ones take a whole to use and it’s hard to hold under a wriggly baby’s arm long enough to register a reading. With this thermometer it is so easy to point at the temple (2-3cm away) and within seconds you have a reading. There are other settings on there you can use but I personally haven’t tried… Read more · 1
them so I can’t comment on that.
There’s an option to have the sound on or off which is great if you need to take a sleeping babies temp and don’t want to risk the little beep waking them. The screen lights up so you can see in the dark and if the temp is high the screen will change colour.
I really love that it is non contact so therefore no cleaning is required and it comes with a hard case to keep it in and protect it.
Not good for winter! – I purchased this thermometer in the summer months when I had a newborn. It has worked fine up until the weather turned cold. We live in a cold region and I kept finding every time I tried to take my babies temperature the thermometer would automatically change to house temperature 16 degrees Celsius. I read through the instruction booklet and… Read more
found if the temperature isn't what they call normal room temperature it will not work. I have to have the heating on in the house and have the device sitting in a heated room for at least half an hour before it will work. With the price of electricity who can afford to keep the heating on 24hrs a day just in case your baby wakes feeling hot and you need to take a temperature straight away in case her temperature has reached dangerous levels. Waiting half an hour for the device to work in these conditions is not acceptable. I will now need to spend more money on a new thermometer that works at all times. Not impressed.

Works well except – I have found if the room temperature gets down to 16 degrees then the device doesn't measure body temperature and keeps showing " L 16c" and changes to the house symbol with a red screen and not the body temperature. Works fine above 16 degrees however so possibly a bug in the coding? Seems like this won't be too useful over winter unless the… Read more

Inaccurate readings – Yes I agree with a lot of the posts very easy to use and I Double checked I was using the product correctly multiple times, however I suspected my daughter had a fever from an ear infection. This product was reading 36.2 in both recommended checking areas but decided to take her to the doctors to be sure. The doctors thermometer was reading 37.5… Read more
and this product was still reading 36.2 and it was being checked at the same time. I find it dangerously inaccurate.

Accurate Thermometer! – This thermometer is probably the only touchless thermometer that offers accurate results. it is well worth the cost for the peace of mind that it gives you and so great that you can check the temperature without disturbing the little one! I would highly recommend this product to any parent Show reply
So excited to have a new thermometer to trust! – We’ve been using a thermometer with cap changes for years, and from unreliable readings to buying new caps all the time I was getting really fed up. We were lucky enough to receive the Oricom Hsf 1000 - easy to use - multiple functions -check room, bath and children temperatures -same answer every time - reliable, quick - were in love!!!! Best thermometer we have ever used Show reply
Well worth the money – I never imagined spending this much on a thermometer tbh however after purchasing a more basic temple reading one before my son was born and persevering with it till he was about 1 year while he wriggled & writhed - getting a temp reading was always painful - I wish we had known about this one & purchased sooner.
