Inaccurate readings
Consistantly 0.9 off actual temperature. Compared with multiple doctors in-ear and forhead monitors its always off. Regretting spending so much money on a faulty product. Mislead by the reviews on here.
Purchased in November 2020 for $99.99.

Amazing
Works well. Cannot fault it. It’s now super easy to check bubs temp at night without waking her. Came in super handy when bub was sick recently. Perfect. So happy

Best Thermometer I've EVER bought!
This thermometer is so easy to use, quick enough to get a temp reading from my 3 year old and also hold memory of the last readings so it's easy to compare when tracking a fever.
I also love that it came with a plastic case to keep it safe and easy to take with us wherever we go.
Purchased in September 2020 at Oricom for $99.00.

Only good in the tropics
When this works it seems fine but as soon as the ambient temperature drops below 20 degrees it won’t work. This is not stated anywhere before you purchase. So if you want to measure temps in winter it is useless and doesn’t work. Why would anyone sell a device that doesn’t work in normal winter daytime temperatures in Sydney let alone at night when you would probably want to use it!!
Purchased in January 2019.

Hi Tim, This type of thermometer (non-contact) requires the temperature to be taken at normal room temperature. This information is outlined in the user guide. All the best Oricom Baby Care

Read more manual which you on get after buying the device. The fact you can’t use the device for 25-30% of the year should be stated up frontBeroccaBunbury

Simply Dangerous - Please Avoid
We purchased had a Braun digital Ear thermometer for our babies (now kids) about seven years ago. The device is a bit clunky to use and requires the patients ear to be probed when tested, but it has always been reliable and accurate.
When Covid-19 started kicking off early this year I wanted to get a non-contact thermometer for easier, less intrusive temperature monitoring. After checking reviews we ended up buying the Oricom HFS1000. When we first got this we thought that it was amazing. The device turns on quickly, it measures the temper...
Read moreature quickly and it has a colour coded background when displaying results, ie healthy temperature shows a green back ground. We were completely stoked about this purchase. When we bought there were a few negative reviews that we saw and we figured that from our experience that they mush have been wrong, how wrong were we! We have recently had a couple of occasions when our young kids have reported being sick. We got the new Oricom HFS1000 thermometer out, checked them and their temperature was fine and sent them on their way. One night our youngest (who has previously been carted off in an Ambulance after a Febrile Convulsion) was clearly very sick. We tested her with the Oricom thermometer and she recorded a 'Green' temperature of 36.7 degrees. It was obvious to us that she had a fever as she was very hot, we tested with the unit repeatedly and it kept returning around the same temperature. Thankfully we still had the trusty old Braun digital ear thermometer around and tried that. It showed that her temperature was 39.1 degrees! It appears that our new Oricom thermometer is completely inaccurate and down right dangerous for monitoring fevers in children. I have attached a photo of both the Braun unit showing the 39.1 degree temperature and Oricom reading the 36.7 degree fever. These were both taken simultaneously on a sick hot child. On the 3rd of July 2020 I contacted Oricom, who were friendly to speak to but completely unfased and unworried about our experience. They were quick to point out that I could have a replacement or refund from our retailer but were not interested in investigating further. The lady that I spoke to (Janet) said that all products have the occasional failure and was not worried. I mentioned that from the reviews on this website and others that this appeared to be far more than a one off and again she appeared un-interested. The most disappointing part of this issue is that the manufacturer is not interested in receiving our unit back to investigate and look at a type fault. I suspect that there are many units out there (possibly all) that do not indicate correctly when the patient has a fever. Due to lack of interest from the company in investigating this fault, I will be reporting this failure to the Therapeutic Goods administration. To others with similar problems I suggest that you report your concerns to the TGA also... https://www.tga.gov.au/reporting-problemsPurchased in March 2020 at Baby Bunting Online store for $99.00.

Read more Although polite your team have shown no concern about the above matter with the only options given we’re going back to my retailer for a refund or you sending out a replacement. Janet confirmed that a replacement had been shipped on the 6th of July but this has not been received nor any tracking details received. My primary concern is your companies lack of interest in investigating these faulty units. From the reviews of this product and your NFS100 on this website it is clear that my experience is not a one off. Without working with customers, retrieving their faulty units to investigate faults the same issues are going to perpetuate. I reiterate my advise to perspective buyers of this device to monitor a baby or small child that from my experience these devices are unreliable and dangerous.JessMetropolitan Adelaide, SA

Easy to use
We purchased this thermometer because the normal ones take a whole to use and it’s hard to hold under a wriggly baby’s arm long enough to register a reading.
With this thermometer it is so easy to point at the temple (2-3cm away) and within seconds you have a reading.
There are other settings on there you can use but I personally haven’t tried them so I can’t comment on that.
There’s an option to have the sound on or off which is great if you need to take a sleeping babies temp and don’t want to risk the little beep waking them. The scree...
Read moren lights up so you can see in the dark and if the temp is high the screen will change colour. I really love that it is non contact so therefore no cleaning is required and it comes with a hard case to keep it in and protect it.Purchased in February 2019 at Gadget City Online store.

Not good for winter!
I purchased this thermometer in the summer months when I had a newborn. It has worked fine up until the weather turned cold. We live in a cold region and I kept finding every time I tried to take my babies temperature the thermometer would automatically change to house temperature 16 degrees Celsius. I read through the instruction booklet and found if the temperature isn't what they call normal room temperature it will not work. I have to have the heating on in the house and have the device sitting in a heated room for at least half an hour bef...
Read moreore it will work. With the price of electricity who can afford to keep the heating on 24hrs a day just in case your baby wakes feeling hot and you need to take a temperature straight away in case her temperature has reached dangerous levels. Waiting half an hour for the device to work in these conditions is not acceptable. I will now need to spend more money on a new thermometer that works at all times. Not impressed.Purchased in January 2019.

Works well except..
I have found if the room temperature gets down to 16 degrees then the device doesn't measure body temperature and keeps showing " L 16c" and changes to the house symbol with a red screen and not the body temperature. Works fine above 16 degrees however so possibly a bug in the coding? Seems like this won't be too useful over winter unless the heaters are on an night.
Edit: Actually lowered my score as if this isnt fixable then it makes it far less useful.
Purchased in March 2019.

Read morein. If I choose the body temperature mode (default when it powers up) the screen goes red and shows the error as stated above instead of the body temperature which it never did before. Can this device not operate properly to measure body temperature when the room temp drops to 16 degrees, or could I have a defective unit? If this is not normal behaviour then please let me know and I will call support. So I now see this (copied below) in the clauses written in the manual. Seriously? Inaccurate readings
Yes I agree with a lot of the posts very easy to use and I Double checked I was using the product correctly multiple times, however I suspected my daughter had a fever from an ear infection. This product was reading 36.2 in both recommended checking areas but decided to take her to the doctors to be sure. The doctors thermometer was reading 37.5 and this product was still reading 36.2 and it was being checked at the same time. I find it dangerously inaccurate.

Accurate Thermometer!
This thermometer is probably the only touchless thermometer that offers accurate results. it is well worth the cost for the peace of mind that it gives you and so great that you can check the temperature without disturbing the little one! I would highly recommend this product to any parent

Well worth the money
I never imagined spending this much on a thermometer tbh however after purchasing a more basic temple reading one before my son was born and persevering with it till he was about 1 year while he wriggled & writhed - getting a temp reading was always painful - I wish we had known about this one & purchased sooner. We no longer require two of us to get a temp. Just point at the temple & the reading comes back in seconds. Do not hesitate with the little bit of extra cost!!
