Don't help them stay in business - just stay away – Yet another "Australian" company selling Chinese knock-offs as name brand products. I ordered a BenQ projector lamp; I received a piece of generic Chinese rubbish. When I complained, I was told "lamp is genuine in generic housing.". BenQ do not put their branded lamps into generic housings. Ever. And the lamp looks completely different to the… Read more

BenQ product. The returns process is complicated, long-winded and deliberately designed to make you give up. Every communication I've had from them has been rude and unhelpful (and sound like I'm not dealing with an Australian). Don't waste your time with these people unless you enjoy wastine time and money. Don't even waste your time putting these lamps into your projector.

A reasonable price (for Australia), quick delivery and have had no problems so far – I just had a look at the reviews here, since I'm in the market for a spare lamp... (in preparation for the death of my current one) and I'm honestly a little surprised by the negativity. I just thought I'd add my "two cents". I have worked numerous roles as an IT/AV technician and consultant, have done everything from major events (DJ/Live… Read more

performances) to maintaining projectors in businesses, schools and universities. I don't know how many projectors I've worked on over the years, but whether they use mercury vapor bulbs, or lasers, they all wear out after a time. So I've ordered many bulbs and bulb like parts over the years.

I have ordered from Oz Lamps on several occasions since 2015 (for several different organisations) as well as for myself. I think it's somewhere around the 12 order mark now... ordering 17 lamps in total. Unfortunately, since my orders have outlasted a year or two, the orders seem to have been wiped from the order history. (Maybe a website system change or update?) This is fine, since this is WAY past the warranty period... but doesn't help me with my review "after the fact".

Of the lamp assembly orders I've seen enough to monitor (repeat customers, and personally owned machines) All of them lasted a reasonable amount of time. For instance, the BenQ W3000 lamp from Oz Lamps has lasted 2880hs so far (which is well within the 2000-3000hrs of life expectancy). The prehistoric Panasonic projector bulbs lasted 3213 hours (2000 expected). I've ordered bulbs for Viewsonic, Optoma, InFocus, Epson, Dell, Sony and Philips projectors over the years. Some bulbs exceeded expectations, and one was "short, but still within normal life expectancy".

Every time I've ordered from Oz Lamps, the items have been delivered promptly. I've never used their "express" service, but delivery to Canberra (and surrounding areas) has usually been done within a 2-4 business days.

It's not unusual to find Oz Lamps to be anywhere between $30 and $150 cheaper than some of other Australian competition... not that there is a great deal of competition in Australia.

I've sent Oz Lamps questions via email on three occasions, and they've always responded within a few days. I don't expect them to pretend that my issues are the centre of their universe, but I've never actually HAD a problem for them to deal with... so I cannot speculate on what's happening with other reviewers who gave low scores here.

Honestly, I'd prefer the option to buy bare original bulbs (rather than the whole lamp assembly) because I have the skills to replace them and save a little money, but Oz Lamps have gone with a "Lamp assembly only" approach.. (according to some correspondence I've gotten today). It's not ideal for me, but it avoids issues like poor handling or improper installation. It's also much easier for the average user to simply pull out the old lamp assembly and drop the new one in.

If you want Australian based support, there really AREN'T a lot of options out there. Osram (the official bulb manufacturer) themselves have no distributor in Australia, (and do not respond to the emails I've sent them).

Be careful with "compatible" and "cheap" bulbs. I've experimented with my own projectors with "compatible" bulbs from eBay (some not so cheap).... with some extremely varying results. Some were ok, but lasted only 600 hours. Others added to the disappointment by causing blue/green colour casts over half of the projected image, a somewhat unstable operation which results in spikes in electrical current running through the bulb (triggering emergency bulb shutdown), as well as the usual dimness issues and shorter life expectancy. The truth is, that there are a lot of counterfeit bulbs that look similar but do NOT work as well. That might be ok, if you only paid $50 instead of much more, but some of these "compatible" bulbs are only $20 less than the originals, (that cost $150-200) but last only 5-50% as long. This is false economy by any standard.

Your mileage may vary, I haven't ordered a bulb since 2020 since it's still going, and Covid has shut down many of the events/schools/universities that I usually support since the original outbreak... but I've found Oz Lamps to be better value than most Australian sellers, offers reliable products with very reasonable delivery times, and have been responsive to my questions.

I hope this helps!

Two faulty lamps in less than a year – I'm very disappointed in their products. I purchased a replacement lamp for my BenQ. The first lamp that OZlamps sent me was cheaply made and defective as illustrated in my photos. Thankfully it died within the warranty period of three months and they sent me a replacement. The replacement process was very robotic and there was no acknowledgement… Read more

of my concerns about their quality (I sent them the same photos as posted here). Although the second one looked better it still looked cheap and has just died after less than one year. By comparison, the lamp that came with the projector lasted over five years. Obviously the lack of quality is more than skin deep.

Buyer Beware Buy Elsewhere – A company to stay well clear of. Twice I was supplied faulty goods which had to be returned. This cost me over $30 in postage as well as time to repackage & trips to Post Office which the company refuses to reimburse, so $30 for nothing! Also the goods are also available cheaper from other suppliers.100% dissatisfied. Not even worth one Star! Show details

Ozlamps – Purchased in good faith Replacement lamp for SHARP Projector. Could not fit it in to Projector so being careful took it to the Projector Vendor. He tried unsuccessfully. situation worse.Firstly I must return the defective globe, setting out demands and threatening conditions ...No Aplogy nor even a call to the teshnician who found the product defective ...then they will send it to China and test it then telling me no more... So may be in about at best a month they may tell me what we already know ..that the product is defective ..or it may be more...in the meantime no projector workjing...So they are just running me around the block... So as a matter of principle I will wait a few days for a refund and aplogy [Sure] and simply going to take them to Court as they are violating Consumer laws. The sheer abrupt arrogance is remarkable. Dealing with them is a bad deal
