Hugely inflated 'Estimates'. Bought 2 x Aboriginal Paintings a few years ago. Approached Oz Bid to re-sell them. They declined and then totally ignored further queries about 'well where can I sell them?' Be very mindful of buying paintings from this mob as you will pay well over the odds and then be stuck with a worthless piece later on. Thanks Reannon for your unhelpful, unfriendly attitude.

Very expensive lesson learnt dealing with OZBID – Bought a necklace cost over $5k from Ozbid. It wasn’t the same size as it was supposed to being marginally smaller but so tight on my neck. This item did not look as good as it did in their catalogue! Light in weight very cheap looking and for that amount of money I was extremely disappointed. I asked if I could return it and they refused, after… Read more

several emails they agreed to accept it back but not to return all of the money… why??? I posted it insured in a padded envelope as received at a cost of $160. On receipt they told me the package had been damaged, I asked for a photo of it which I didn’t get only the valuers document with a very slight crease in it. They told me they would have to have a new valuers certificate at a cost of $80 to me, I asked again for photo evidence of the new one which I didn’t receive. After several emails I sent I noticed a refund in my account less almost $1400.. which was ‘expenses incurred’.. DO NOT buy from these people they are greedy and dishonest!

Amateurish shipping and handling of art work – Although the aboriginal painting I purchased was as described, they shipped it in a tube (without telling me they would remove it from the stretcher). They rolled the canvas the wrong way (paint in vs paint side out). They did not ship the stretcher, which I had provide myself and hope that it was the right size. Very amateurish way to handle… Read more

the painting and left me with restretching the canvas and improvising cross bars. They also made a payment dispute while I was waiting for them to quote shipping and that payment dispute is raising issues with other auction houses. I may sue them for defamation of credit if they don't clean up my record.

Quality operation – We have purchased 4 pieces from Ozbid. Of the dealers and auction house we deal with, Ozbid are a standout for service, quality and care. From the point of sale through to the care of the items in delivery. Lovely people to deal with and we find ourselves looking for art through Ozbid purely for the confidence we have in the Ozbid staff. Quality art is a bonus.

I feel cheated – I bought a print from Ozbid auctions a few months ago. Mine was the winning bid of $180. However a 'buyers premium' of $40 was also required and I would regard that as a hidden charge. But that's not even my main gripe. The listing and the invoice state that the print measures 51cm by 39cm, and I measured out how big that was before putting in my… Read more

bid.

Yet when I opened the package I was immediately struck by how small the print looked. I've measured it taking the placement of the artist's signature as the bottom of the picture. It measures 29cm by 40cm! It's lost in a much bigger frame which is just way too big for the picture and the gold is out of place with the colours and the mood of the tropical print. So yes, framing is expensive but that's not the point. They've given incorrect measurements of the actual print which is what i was paying money for, I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known how small it was.

I am now very cranky as i'll have to go through the tedious business of exercising my consumer rights. Honestly, OzBid, why not just provide the true details instead of trying to deceive people? In this case by pasting the actual print onto a larger board and then mocking up some weird pink marks that are supposed to look like they're part of the picture (as if it's bled further onto the larger board) but actually just look like PINK STAINS or WATER DAMAGE!!!

How hard is it to be honest about your products? By being deceptive you are simply creating BAD KARMA!
