Handy shop vac for diy-ers! – Great little vacuum for those home DIY jobs, I've used it when sanding plaster and decking, using the mitre saw and the circular saw and lots of other jobs like vacuuming our outdoor area etc. It's got plenty enough power considering it's battery powered and you can even use it to give the car a quick go over. PS. don't be silly - use a bag in it. Show details
I didn't know a vacuum could be an essential gardening tool! – Why did I buy it? For one thing we get 1 h of free electricity each day so I charge the batteries and am then free to use the lawn mower or vacuum etc (by doing all the energy intensive things during that hour we get about 35% of our electricity for free that way). The other main reason is that our windows turn into little cry babies in winter and… Read more
even leave puddles on the window sills - the humidity in Auckland is ridiculous, and you need to go round and wipe the windows every morning (and then what do you do with the wet towel when it is raining outside all the time?). So I thought I should be able to use a squeegee and then suck the water up with the vacuum (and maybe a thin tip would come in handy - still working on that). So I bought the battery powered vacuum over the protestations of my wife who insisted we don't need another vacuum - but as I used a $100 voucher that I got for my birthday she couldn't say much against my choice :-). The vacuum works fine indoors, but quite surprisingly it is a godsend in the garden. We have an invasion of passionvine hoppers in our garden - they are those little grey triangle-shaped moth-like insects that take off like a harrier jump jet the moment you come close. They suck the sap out of the plants, and if you lift a leaf there might be 4-10+ on the stem! They had already completely decimated one bean stock, vandalised a second, and were moving onto a third. They also dared to attack my lemon tree! According to expert advice: "Invaded by passionvine hoppers? The lacewing adults are tricky to control as they flit off when they see you coming. Give them a blast with a pyrethrum-based spray. If numbers are high you'll need to spray continuously throughout the season, and probably the next two, until you get on top of them." … well, I found a faster way: I simply vacuum them up! When you try to get close with your hand they take off - but with a vacuum they think it is a wind and grasp the leaf or stem tightly … until you are close enough to suck them in! Yesterday and today I sucked up over 400 of them! [Plus about 15 mossies that simply love me. So every time I go into my work room that seems to be mosquito heaven I take the vacuum with me.] With the lemon tree I can use the narrow tip which gives more suction, but with the beans I need to use the normal tube only as otherwise the leaves get sucked into the tip and shredded. Other points of note: I get about 20 min of use out of a 4 Ah battery (I have 4 batteries but nearly exclusively only use 2 so if they weaken I can exchange them - so far they are 2 years old and are still going strong). It is light enough that even my wife who has back problems can carry it. Noise levels are comparable with our old vacuum.
Bang for buck – I am very happy with the Vacuum cleaner, the vacuum cost $65 at Bunnings for the skin. I purchased this specifically for vacuuming my car, I think this vacuum is awesome (for the price). I have also used it around the house and it seems to do the job fine. Better then what I would expect of a $65 cordless Vacuum. If you are thinking of purchasing… Read more
with high expectations, I suggest you raise your budget and purchase brand known for making vacuums. If you have realistic expectations then this is a great cordless vacuum for $65.
Super Cordless Freedom wet/dry Vac For Price – As a workshop vac it copes with sawdust power tool extraction fine. It also removes cob web and general garage smaller particle easier than a sweep often. Obviously no HEPA level performance but not expected at this price. As a wet vac it's handy enough. Good selection of attachments - plenty for me. For a car valet, it's 18V performance is OK… Read more
but a stronger vac is needed for real carpet pulling power when nearing pro valet levels are expected.
In my usage, I get around 3-maybe 4 minutes per amp-hour of battery. Fine for me but something to understand before buying.
Noise levels are what they are. Nothing unexpected at the price and versus a mitre saw the mitre saw would LONG leave it standing on annoyance. Thought would mention only as saw some complaint elsewhere and would not have thought of mentioning otherwise.
In-store 5-year gold brick replacement warranty.
Ozito could make replacement of consumable parts easier to find (cloth filter / bag). OK once know/ fiddle with finding, but time is convenience erosion and room for improvement on ease here. This cost it a star from me due to the time factor. Yes it's cheap but not so much that busy people want to spend time fiddling around, IMO.
Strange interconnection pipe is supplied to solve an original oversight for a couple of things. No biggie, just silly even if very forgivable at a price that feels like it should not be possible.
This thing is awesome – Firstly don't be dumb and use a cheap vacuum without a bag. You will clog filters and blow the motor. This is called operator error, not product failure. More accurately you need to blame your own ignorance and not the quality of your tools. Secondly I use this unit as an extractor for my sanders on small jobs. Also as an extractor for the… Read more
18v drop saw. I also use it to vacuum up after myself using it. Saw dust, aluminium shavings, blah blah don't really care. It all goes into this unit. With a bag it will protect your motor and filters. This is called using your unit correctly as intended. I have 7 batteries and 6 chargers so runtime is not an issue for me, however you can expect about 15 mins for a large battery. My old Dyson had a 7 min -12min run time. It would work similar to this but I couldn't swap batteries nor use it as an extractor.
I have had ZERO issues with this unit and I use it for everything. Wood, aluminium, concrete dust, dirt, metal, Lego, kids toys, food, etc. The bags are cheap and an absolute treasure as you can just throw them out instead of going down to the ground floor or basement to empty them, thus having to return to your work site to continue.
Not much of a vacuum cleaner – I purchased this battery operated vacuum cleaner from Bunnings for a mere $99. It was discounted from $149. I thought for that price it was worth a try. I was wrong. It gently kisses the ground rather than vacuuming anything at all. After using it for a couple minutes I could see that the filer was getting clogged up and was not sucking up… Read more
anything. I must admit that used it on small dust. The instruction says that for dust you must install a paper filter bag which was supplied with the cleaner. However, there is no way you can attach that bag to the machine. The photos in the instruction shows a totally different machine where the dust inlet in the container is not the same. So the bag is useless on this machine. The 5V batter lasts 17 minutes according to the instruction. But I never go the chance to try it for that long.
Look. This is a very cheap vacuum cleaner and you cannot expect better. Buying it though is a total waste of money. You should remember the adage that says "You get what you paid for". In this case I say "you get a something you shouldn't have bought".
