Ended modifying
At first this was a big disappointment and was ready to return it to Bunnings, was always jamming in the outlet chute. Got out the hacksaw and cut off the lower body and chute, now it never jams and will cut through just about anything. Obviously the outlet chute is only there to stop our nations halfwits sticking their hands in a moving machine. With the chute removed it’s a fantastic machine

great at what it's designed for
I dithered for some time about buying this shredder, first because of the weight, then the price, and then some of the bad reviews gave me pause. However after using it a couple of times I'm thrilled with it. It did exactly what I wanted, which was to turn a large pile of wattle prunings quickly and quietly into mulch.
I obviously haven't had it long, but the build quality seems better than I was expecting from an Ozito. The controls are simple and well-designed. The branches I was shredding were mostly green and about 15mm thick. I lopp...
Read moreed through any large forks before shredding. It says max 40mm on the machine but I reckon that'd be pushing it. Maybe with two passes like it says in the manual. It will do dry stuff but not if it's thick and/or hard. Shredding proceeded by poking the end of the branch into the slot till it grabbed, then just letting it feed itself through. I didn't use a basket and just ran it onto the ground, kicking the resultant mulch pile out of the way periodically so it didn't back up into the machine. One time it jammed when I tried to feed a large dry branch - in that case I did what the manual said, which was to stop the machine and use the reverse setting to back it out, then went straight back to shredding. It's not literally silent but it is pretty quiet compared to conventional mulchers. I was using it with the neighbours and their kids playing in their backyard and they didn't seem at all bothered. Using it was positively fun. My main problem now is finding more stuff to feed through it. Great unit for branches.Purchased in February 2021 at Bunnings Warehouse for $300.00.

Broke 3 months out of warranty.
Worked well for 3 years and 3 months. Then stopped without warning. Was not even heavily loaded at the time. No support, no service when out of warranty. So my only option is to toss it, when the issue might be very minor. Ok if you want a disposable shredder for $100/year.

Very disappointment, experienced frequent jams.
Very disappointment, experienced frequent jams. I spent more time clearing Jams that i did chopping. they seem to have narrowed the expulsion chute. The previous model worked well, but this is not worth purchasing. If the yer 2020 have a mascot shredder, this would be it!

Shred to your hearts content
Received this shredder as a Christmas present in 2019 and put it to work straight away. Shredded through anything we threw at it (within reason of course). Just for fun I tried putting a 1mtr long x 1" square garden stake through it and it wend through it no problem. Great device for the home gardener and produces excellent mulch to throw on the garden which enriches our sandy soil and saves water - win, win.
It should be noted that this shredder it designed for shredding branch type material (with leaves attached - we have a lot of lilly-pill...
Read morey which it handles with no problem) more than leafy succulents or fibrous material (ie agapanthas, lillies) etc. One minor thing is that the collection bag that comes with the shredder is pretty useless. Do yourself a favour and go to Bunnings and pick up an EzyStorage 42ltr Oblong Flexible Tub (about $5) this works a treat.Purchased in December 2019 at Bunnings Warehouse for $299.00.

Best mulcher
Our Ozito silent shredder is now 6 years old and has processed a mountain of shrub clippings. Its excellent compared to noisy rotary blade ones that jam constantly. Get one

I wasnt expecting much but this was a joke. Continual blockages and weak. I put it on Gumtree straight away as I couldn't return it. Worst $300 ever spent.

Disappointed, my experience is not good
I expect a product like this to just work. Well, I set up and turned it on and fed some recently cut soft wood branches with leaves, none exceeding the 40mm specified, and, it just clogged up. Perhaps it can be made to work with effort, but, that isn't what I bought it for. Bunnings gave me a refund. I should state that a mate who is an avid gardener thinks they are great. But, he lives about 2hrs from me, so, I can't go and see how he makes it work.

Can be easily taken apart for servicing
I picked one up from a verge collection. Notice on machine stated "Free & works but needs new blade", so being quite handy, I took it home.
$309 from Bunnings but $37 for a new blade - good deal!
An extra long 3mm drill bit had soon unblocked the 6 holes at the top, which were choked solid with debris. Tip - place the shredder upside down on a table and the debris falls out as you drill.
Wear safety glasses.
While upside down, remove the 4 x 10mm Nyloc nuts which attach the main body to the wheel frame. If you had noticed prior to this that the...

Great for occasional home use, quiet, does not jam often
My first Ozito shredder blade broke after about 4 years, but we found this does our occasional backyard shredding without much difficulty and it is quiet. It rarely jams and has a reversal in case something gets stuck. The capture bag is not very good however. No doubt if you do more shredding a more expensive model would be more efficient.

Great little unit
This shredder is great and does what it says and even more surprising it is actually fairly quiet. Definitely recommend. Easy to use and set up is very simple. Glad we purchased it.

Old model was better
Broke the plate on my old Silent Shredder. Couldn't get it apart to repair it. The holes in the top were jammed with debris and I could only get the first two screws out. First thing I did with the new one was to tape over those screw holes.
I was looking for improvements to the faults with the old shredder but the new one is worse. Continual blockages, new outlet chute is narrower and much harder to clear out.
Softer material has a tendency to wrap back around the teeth and back into the shredder.
Not impressed.

Last model better than the new one!
After having purchased one of these many years ago and finding it an invaluable tool in the garden. It suffered many years of abuse and gave up the ghost eventually cracking the internals (my fault jamming pieces way to big in it). i decided to get another only to find it clogging up within minutes? discovered they have made an "improvement" to the machine in that they have put a narrow plastic extension to the exit chute (obviously to stop any morons that would otherwise try to stick there hand up the chute whilst the machine is on). Whilst i cant reccomend it, i removed the plastic chute using a very long philips head screwdriver and hey presto i had my old shredder back!

Great unit for the money
My neighbours have annoying trees that grow over my fence. They were planted decades ago by older neighbours whom have now moved or passed on, so I have been trimming and disposing of them for the last 30 years. I have had 2 previous units from other brands over the last few years, one I broke about 8 years ago and the other had electrical issues about 2 years ago. I have kept maintaining the fence line with the new wave of neighbours as the language barrier and landlord care factor are too difficult to deal with and really I don’t mind.
Recen...
Read moretly after a 2 year hiatus I hacked at and fed through this unit a large feijoa tree, an apple tree, a crepe myrtle, a bottle brush, a Chinese lantern, a lime tree and just for laughs some old broom handles. The unit handled everything well. It does bog down and you have to clear the shoot frequently, especially with heavy and dense foliage. I doubt that I assisted as I was overloading the unit. After a few hours I had turned quite a large pile of off cuts and broom handles into a single 250litre bin load of the largest puzzle in my gardening history. I am incredibly happy with the units performance.Purchased in April 2020 at Bunnings Warehouse for $299.00.

Best garden buy I ever made
Had this for quite a few years (at least 10) and though occasionally clogs up, is easy to clear. Neighbours also use it and always remark how well it works. Brilliant with palm fronds, which I get heaps of.

Had this 2 years and getting rid of
The real problem with this shredder is that the blades have to be sharpened every time I use it. I think they are made of mild steel. I tried to get new ones but the delivery time was two to three months. If anyone wants one they can have mine for free.
Purchased in June 2018 for $165.00.

A disappointment
1. Branches jamming sometimes very difficult to dislodge as limited access.
2. Chute clogging constantly needing to tip shredder on its back to unclog.
3. Partial shredding of green branches has difficulty with bark.

DO NOT BUY THIS
I cannot begin to talk about what a waste of money this was. I understand products that are produced for a price point and that these cheaper models are not going to perform like more expensive models but its got to do a little bit. This product is like buying a cheap drill that doesn't spin or a vacume cleaner that doesnt suck. Id have been better off with my kids safety scissors. Im putting it out on the sidework with a sign that says 'free to and sucker who wants to cart me home'. Better yet I'll tape it to the roof of my car and drive around Bunnings Cannon Hill and use my PA to testify to what a piece of useless crap the Ozito 'Shredder' is!
