Terrible

For the 5 minutes it worked, it mearly mashed up the branches we fed it, didn't cut anything and smaller more flexible branches just got wrapped aroound the blade. Then it stopped working altogether. Returning. Show details

Fantastic machine - perfect for garden tidy up

Recently cut down a tree in my garden and had a lot of branches and twigs that I needed to dispose of. Picked up the Ozito silent shredder machine for $299 at Bunnings and it is super easy to assemble. You can shred branches up to 40mm in thickness and the mulch it makes is great for the garden. Love this machine and it made my branch cleanup a breeze. Two thumbs up! Show details

Don't bother

I had the previouse, yellow, version of this shredder and it did a good job on dry palm fronds and woody branches. Unfortunately the motor in old shredder failed after giving good service for many years.
The new, grey, version has a smaller modified outlet schute that easily blocks. Even dryer wood causes blockages. The motor also stalls easily. Notably the circuit breaker does not 'pop' immediately, which could explain some of the reported motor failures. Show details

Great shredder/mulcher 4 home garden

Does a great job on smaller branches and palm fronds. It prefers slightly drier material - fresh cut Tibouchina will clog but 2/4 day old is fine. Munches up branches to a coarse mulch - perfect for our 900m2 property. Love it to bits!
(Don’t know about “silent”. True if you’re deaf in one ear and can’t hear from the other. ) Show details

Used properly, it’s terrific

Bought a year ago to shred palm fronds and woody vegetation.
Works very well giving small pieces of mulch for the garden.
The fronds and sticks shred best when very dry. I leave them for a month to dry out and shred effectively in one go.
Great machine. Show details

Poor decision

I need to crouch down an d pull the fronds through. If I don’t it wraps around tightly and takes ages to unnamed it. Can see muck all over blades but can’t access them to clean. Show details

After sales parts

Having been gifted an Ozito Shreader it took 6 months for Bunnings to supply new blades. They need serial numbers and other id to identify blades which are the same for all models. If buying I would go upmarket from Ozito

Its the best if you follow the instructions. WAIT UNTIL ALL THE CUTTINGS have dried out !

Turn the switch and away you go. Modify the adjustment bolt by replacing it with a 50mm Hex head matchingh s/s bolt.
Does all our massive palm fronds Before they dry out comp[letly WE HAVE ABOUT 50 PALMS ABOUT 15M. HIGH,SO IT WORKS HARD! Show details

I'm reassembling Silent Shredder after replacing the cutter plate. I can't find where the earth wire attaches. I know, I should have taken a photo. Can anyone tell me where the earth wire attaches please?

Features:

  • The Ozito Silent Shredder 2400W is designed to shred garden material, including dry plant waste, twigs, sticks, and branches up to 4cm thick.
  • A 2400W motor powers a long-lasting cutter head that draws in your garden waste, allowing for fuss-free operation.
  • The garden shredder has a reverse function that helps release jammed material, so you can stress less about debris blocking up your machine.
  • It has a 64L collection bag, so that you can process plenty of debris before needing to empty it out.
  • The shredder has a 10:1 mulching ratio - that means that 10 bags of garden waste can be mulched into 1.
  • Although it’s marketed as ‘silent’, it does in fact make noise - however, it’s very quiet, so you likely won’t be receiving any complaints from neighbours because of it.
  • This product has a 3-year replacement warranty.

Points of praise:

  • Most reviewers found that the shredder could shred a variety of garden material quickly, including twigs and thinner branches, dead leaves, and dry plant matter. Reviewers said that it produced chips around 1” in length.
  • They also noted that the machine was easy to operate and set up, and didn’t jam often.
  • According to reviewers, this is a very quiet garden shredder. Although it’s not ‘silent’, it has a lower noise level than comparable models.

A point of pain:

  • Some reviewers found that the capture bag wasn’t particularly durable, and was damaged earlier than expected. Some reviewers worked around this by using a different collection container - some bought a large plastic tub to use instead.
