when was this model discontinued and was the noise problem sorted in later versions? 2017 version

thanks

Panasonic
Panasonic   DM

Hi Amanda, this model was discontinued in 2106. It is difficult to comment on the noise experienced by each user in these reviews. There are many factors that can make a fridge noisy, most importantly it not being given adequate time to settle before being turned on for the first time. A lose drain pan could also cause noise, the cabinet not being the correct size for the fridge are some of the environmental aspects. There could also be a fault with the fridge. Hope this helps you.

Fixing up shelving from the frig being over filled has left me with a plastic item size 572mm x 155 mm approx which I cannot work out where it goes. It has FRONT written in lower middle long edge and >PS< written on top right hand side of long top edge. Because of its absence from inclusion in the frig, frosting and small icicles is appearing on the frozen goods. Please assist?

Thank you for your assistance.

Pull out the bottom drawer, the "Chilled Case". Inside the fridge towards the back and top of the vacated space you will see two small ledges - one on each side. The plastic partition you mention sits on top of these ledges. Push it all the way to the back and it will stay in place.

Peterw
Peterw

Thankyou, your advice has enabled me to move this partition from the top of the fridge to inside the fridge where it belongs. I originally thought it was from the freezer compartment, but it is happy in the space between the Fresh Safe drawer and the Chilled case below it.

Why has one light in my fridge started blinking then goes off leaving the other three on?

PeteS
PeteS

Good question. Mine did the same and is now permanently off. Probably a faulty globe.

trent_oc
trent_oc

This appears to be a design or manufacturing fault with the circuit board strip that holds the 4 LED lights. When our fridge (the exact same model as yours) was about 18 months old, the left-most LED started to flicker intermittently and then went out permanently. I finally got around to having it fixed under warranty the week before the warranty ran out. The serviceman replaced the circuit board holding the LEDs. Within three or four months, the new board failed in the same way with the left-most LED out. Of course by then it was out of warranty. A year or so on, there is no sign of the other three LEDs failing.

I am having the same problem but as with others, I am out of warranty. Looks like I'll just put up with it

Hi,

What is the recommended space, between fridge and surrounding wall space, please. 675 in a 700 space, too close?

Cathie

I asked this question when I bought my fridge and apparently the new fridges don't need to worry about this. I just like to have enough space so I can move mine and clean behind it .. keep it dust free.

Hi,

It says in the fridge instructions 3cm from the wall, 3.6cm from the ceiling. Hope that helps. And 5cm from the rear wall.

Why is it my food in the container has condensation? The technician came, said it is normal for all refrigerator to had condensation, which I totally disagree.

Try different setting, even try the 9 mode setting, still had condensation, so frustrated.

Cathie

Hi Chris, I have had this fridge for around 4 weeks now & have not had this issue. I keep leftovers & cold meat in containers in the fridge . I always make sure though that the leftover food is cold before I put it in the fridge other wise you will get condensation .

Trlai1

I have not had this problem either.

Chris

Hi Cathie,

Thanks for your replied, I actually put it in a container and left it open overnight before putting in the Fridge, that's why I think my fridge had a problem, because I don't see this is a common issue.

So is it noisy or quiet?

Trlai1
Trlai1

When the motor kicks in it is noisy and has a high pitched ringing. But when that stops it is so quiet it sounds like it's not even on. I've got used to the noisy times now so I'd say predominantly quiet.

Jobi
Jobi

Very quite. The only time we notice it is when its on its de frost cycle & that is not loud just different.

markymark18
markymark18

The high pitched noise is really annoying if there is no other background noise in the house. If you are a family and have kids screaming and TV on etc you can probably survive with it. If you live alone/couple and like peace and quiet then DO NOT BUY this fridge !! I've tried 3 or them and they all have this noise, so the chances are not good to get a quiet one.

USSMC
USSMC

Thanks for all the replies. I chose this fridge because of its size; it matches my fridge space perfectly. I’ve had it for over a month now – it makes no sound at all, but when the machine kicks in it makes different kinds of annoying noises. And sadly, the machine kicks in more often than it sleeps.

Why do some people experience a noisy running fridge and some don't? It seems odd given that they are produced in the same factory.

pete
pete

i would like to know the same thing. could be positioning, if in an enclosed space for eg,it does have an inverter so if you have an aircon turn it on to cool go and stand by the compressor you will hear a high pitched noise till it has cooled the gas enough to provide cooling then the high pitch will cease until it needs to cool gas again, i imagine this is the case with the fridge,

so its a noise people don't usually come across in there kitchen. people have different tolerances to pitch so some it is annoying and others not i suppose.

We are looking to buy this fridge but will only have 1cm either side. Is this enough of a gap?

king_45
king_45

Nothing protrudes from the sides I measure mine at 67cm<there needs to be the recommended space at the top and back to let the heat get away. I still reckon mine to be a really good fridge that looks very smart after 8 months or so

Oilzzz
Oilzzz

I have same 1cm on sides. The fridge sides get moderately warm sometimes but not a great deal. Like the other person says, need adequate ventilation at back and top which I have. Though always heed instruction manual.

I bought this fridge recently and it is very quiet as others have said. But I have yet to put the fridge to test as fridge is practically empty. One thing i would beg to differ from other people is the quality of Vegetables compartment and chiller compartment. Both are extremely flimsy. The chiller tray even though empty, does not have smooth glide. I tried to put some beer bottles in and it made so much scratchy noises. I got scared that the weight will break it so moved the beer bottles in the door shelves. Does anyone have this same problem or my chiller and vege drawers are faulty?

trent_oc
trent_oc

I agree that there is a design problem with the slide for the bottom drawer in the fridge. The two surfaces on which the drawer slides are part of the lining of the fridge but the material type/finish is not suitable to withstand the friction involved when the drawer is loaded with heavier items like meat or your beer. Over time, the plastic surface of the lining is abraded and slides very poorly. You may notice white powder on the slide which is from the plastic lining being ground down as the drawer is opened and closed with weight in it. This is perhaps the scratchy noise you hear.

My solution was to adopt the centuries-old remedy for sticking drawers - candle wax. I scoured off the ground plastic debris from the sliding surfaces on both the drawer and the lining and rubbed a candle firmly on all the sliding surfaces. I reapply the wax a few times a year. The drawer now slides reasonably well.

The upper drawer is less of a problem as the slide rail there is an insert made from a more suitable plastic. Some wax might still help there if you have a problem with that drawer too.

Sam01
Sam01

Thanks Trent. I'll try waxing the area where the shelf slides.

Bought my fridge a couple of months ago and cannot believe how very noisy it is at times during the day/evening. It sounds as if maybe a fan is catching as it turns - I thought with the inverter that the fridge would run more quietly. One of the reviews says that it is super quiet - why isn't mine? Otherwise it is fine, although I get a bit annoyed there is not just a tad more height on the top shelf - when you put a 2 litre bottle of milk on it the top hits the roof of the fridge as you put it in.

king_45
king_45

My fridge continues to be very quiet I have got used to the noise being high pitched rather than low pitched I recently visited someone with a new Fisher Pykel and cannot believe how noisy it was capered to the panasonic

Sam01
Sam01

Hi Ann, Have you left enough space around and the back of the fridge. From memory, it says there should be at-least 2.5 cm space on the left & right side and at-least 5cms space at the back. My fridge is very quiet but the only problem I see is the Chiller compartment is very flimsy and it does not slide smoothly, instead makes scratchy noises..

Brand new fridge delivered today. We're trying to screw down the legs at the front to stop the fridge rolling, but they won't budge. Any advice?

Chris H
Chris H

Ring Panasonic my fridge didn't need any screwing down when they delivered it. Perhaps put some rubber underneath it to stop movement until you can figure out why you cannot move the adjusters

TechnoBill
TechnoBill

Hi I just got mine yesterday. Yes you have to lower the front rubber stopper to lift the fridge off the rollers, otherwise I couldn't open the door without moving the fridge. The stoppers are a little tight, I just used a pair or pliers to turn them clockwise, after a slight turn with the pliers, you can continue to turn them by hand.

What do you use the chiller case for does anyone have a user manual?

Chris H
Chris H

I use it for storing fresh meat I like to keep meat away from the rest of the food. My old fridge had a seperate meat chiller so I use the Panasonic chiller the same way.

No user manual other than the one you download off the website

Pablo069
Pablo069

The chiller case can be used for any item. If you prefer your drinks to be icy cold but don't want everything else in the fridge to be as cold, put your drinks in there. Or as someone else pointed out meat that you don't want frozen can be kept in it. Essentially it's for any item that you want to be kept cooler than rest of the fridge without having to use more power by adjusting the the temp for the whole of the fridge. For example If you had drinks in the cupboard and wanted to cool them quicker than the fridge door/shelves will cool them, put them in the chiller box. If you put warm drinks/food in the chiller box the fridge will recognise the temp in the chiller has increased and cool the chiller compartment only, thus using less power. If you have left over roast chicken or similar and it needs to be cooled quickly to prevent bacteria put it in the chiller box. I'm sure you have got the idea. Hope that helps.

I want to purchase NR BW415XSAU. I am reading comments that is in noisy? Is this is true?

Pablo069
Pablo069

Hi M singh, We have not found it to be noisy at all. Quite the contrary. There is a potential problem which MIGHT cause a very slight rattle. At the back of the fridge down the bottom there is a plastic tray to catch condensation from dehumidifying/defrosting. In the tray there is a small black pipe, a heat return pipe. It, the small black copper pipe, is designed to sit as close as possible to the bottom of the tray in order to evaporate as much moisture as possible. When the compressor is running and IF that pipe is to close or touching the plastic tray it can cause a slight rattle. IF you have a rattle (unlikely) Simply push the tray down a mm or two or carefully bend the black copper pipe up 1 or 2 mm. FIXED. I wrote this in my review of the stainless version of the same fridge. Both my wife and I are very happy with our fridge. I would happily recommend this fridge to any friend or family member.
