First Time Customer and Very Impressed! – Had my 7-year-old MSI gaming laptop serviced by Jason at PCDIY this weekend. Firstly, these guys had the best price anywhere in Melbourne for what I needed done. I got price quotes from lots of other computer repair places and PCDIY absolutely had the most competitive price of them all. Secondly, the service was great! Jason was very knowledgeable… Read more

and clear on what the issue was, what would (also) need to be done to support the longevity of the laptop + how long the job would take. Updates and photos were sent to me by text. Overall, I can say I'm very happy with the price & quality of service, and would absolutely recommend these guys to anyone that needs mobile phone or computer repair.

Excellent service! – My pc died when I need to use it to work from home. Luckily PC DIY was still open during this hard time. Thought about fixing my old pc but since it is 10 years old and not really worth fixing so end up buying a new one. They had everything I want and built it very quickly. Had no issues at all so far. Defiantly will buy from these guys again. Show details

Difficult times but still open! – These guys are definitely essential! Needed a workstation desktop PC and all the accessories to work from home and they were the only place I could get to at such short notice. The minor inconvenience is they had no webcams like most places so I had to order from overseas but that's not their fault. Staff were nice and friendly.

Shop again after 8 years – I bought my first PC from these guys 8 years ago. Because of the virus, I had to work from home and needed a new monitor. But I can't find any from my local Officeworks or JB HiFi. And I didn't want to order online since my Coles order was cancelled after 7 days. Then I called PC DIY to try my luck. Although they didn't have exactly what I wanted,… Read more

at least I got a similar model which worked for me. And they did same day free delivery which was pretty impressive. A few days later, when a friend talked to me about WFH, I shared my experience with him. However, he said I shouldn't have bought from PC DIY since the review was not good on ProductReview. To be honest, I trust my friend, but my shopping experience was also good, then the only thing I can probably do is to write something good for these guys. Hope they can prove I am right.

Questionable practices, lack of customer empathy and indifferent to Warranties – I Purchased $800 worth of Computer Hard Drives in 2013. They are 17 months old. One of them has died within the warranty period. The manufacturer states the drive is covered under warranty and told me to return it to the reseller. PC DIY staff demonstrated a cold and heartless position in regards to replacing the drive. Even though the Warranty… Read more

is 2 years, and Australian Consumer law requires that they honor the warranty they suggested I pay them some money to "enable" them to send the unit back, as their supplier will refuse to honor the warranty (didn't seem to be telling the truth when he said this).

Who knows if they would actually send the drive or use a different method and pocket the money I give them. But why should I give them money. They are required to honor the warranty for the full warranty period, not any other period they arbitrarily decide upon.

In the end it will cost almost $200 to get a warranty replacement of this drive, because the warranty process can take up to 12 weeks (Has to be sent to Singapore, and I need the computer operational.

Given that I am on a pension, this is even harder to cover the costs for. I really wonder at the mentality of some of these places. Assuming there was any cost to them to honor the warranty, is the resentment and dissatisfaction they have generated worth the cost. It surely will cost them a lot more in lost business than it would ever have cost to replace the drive.

I've dealt with dozens of computer resellers. Never have I come across anyone refusing to honor a warranty, or anyone that has demonstrated such unconscionable behaviors.

I would advise everyone to steer clear of PC DIY Box Hill. They are definitely not interested in servicing or keeping customers. I know I will never buy from them again.

Dodgy and dishonest. Stay away from these crooks – Don't trust or buy from these dodgy crooks. They will not replace faulty products within warranty periods as the warranty promises. I bought a Tvpad 3 two weeks ago from the Box Hill store as a Christmas gift for my parents. The problem was that it was faulty after only a few days use. It just froze and would not respond at all to the remote. It… Read more

had a one year warranty. Had to take it to them twice and finally they said they would take a look at it. They then told my dad on the phone that they would give us a new one. What they did instead was give us an old, used one in exchange for the faulty one they sold me.

After telling my dad on the phone that they would give us a new one, he went in store to pick it up. They told him in person at the store that it was in fact a new one. That was an absolute blatant lie. My dad is old and a trusting person who is not tech savvy so they thought they could con him. When my dad brought the box home, I could see the plastic seals at the bottom were actually broken and when I plugged it the Tvpad, it already had many apps installed. The remote control already had old batteries that someone else had put in there. We called them up and they lied, saying that it was in fact a new one but they had to install the apps to test it and see if it was actually working. Why would they have downloaded so many apps when all they needed was one to test it and why even the Disney channel that someone would have downloaded for their kids? The fact is that they were dodgy and had given us an old one which they tried to pass it off as brand new. The Tvpad itself had black smudges on the bottom and it was an older model with grey foam triangles on the bottom corners, whereas our one we bought didn't have the older model's grey triangles.

They lied to our faces and wouldn't think twice about being so dishonest so please don't trust these dodgy crooks with your hard earned money. Not only did they promise us a brand new one and say to us twice that it was brand new, they also continued lying in order to cover their own blatant lies. I called them up again, pointing out these holes in their argument and suddenly they changed their story, saying that they did not know if in fact they installed the apps or not and that the person I talked to was not them. They also claimed that they were not wrong to give us an old used one. I pointed out to them that a warranty means if it is faulty we can ask for an exchange for a new unused product and they said that even if they gave us an old one it was still working within the one year period that covers their duty to their warranty. Ask yourselves this: Would you want to be given an old and used product or computer part when they promised you a new one and lied about it to your face? That is just unacceptable and completely lacking of any integrity.

Please think twice before trusting or even buying anything from these dishonest and dodgy scumbags. You cannot trust them to even do something as simple as honour their warranty or even tell you the truth to your face. They may as well have used my warranty as toilet paper, as they totally disregarded it. When I called once more, their tone changed and they said: "Didn't I tell you already, we aren't giving you a new one". When I asked for a refund, as I didn't want an already used product in exchange for the faulty new one, they said I couldn't get a full refund as I didn't take it back within 7 days and would only offer a 85% refund. The fact is that we brought it to them on the 2/1 and they were closed for holidays on the 25/12, 26/12 and 1/1 so that is exactly within 7 working business days that they were open. All they did in the end, after so much trouble to us was say they would take my number and call me back when they talk to their boss. They still have not called. They have no honour or integrity. Please don't throw your money away in trusting these criminals. They are nothing but shameless liars and have turned what was supposed to be a great gift for my parents, shared with my family, into a big problem and a $289 hole in my wallet. Would you want to use something that somebody had already used before in your PC and believe PCDIY when they try to pass it off as completely new?

To be honest, I really don't feel comfortable using an older model that someone else already gave back to them. Why else would they have old used models sitting around their store? Because it was faulty or had problems and someone has already given it back to them. How could they try to con my innocent parents into thinking it was new? PCDIY may even have gotten away with it if I wasn't here to look out for my parents. These dodgy individuals probably do this all the time, as they didn't think twice about lying and changing their story so many times. They were very convincing and slick in their lies to cover themselves. I am very disappointed and upset and hope you all please stay away from these con artists. Be warned, you can't even get products within their warranty period exchanged for a new working one. Don't throw your money away to these criminals.

Quick Update. I just went into their store again, as they failed to call me back and the owner still stubbornly and rudely insisted that the old exchange Tvpad they gave us was definitely a new one. He said there were no old ones in their store and all their stock were new ones. If that is true, then they should explain the opened package, installed apps and black smudges on the bottom of an older model. After all their pathetic lies, this was a final insult and just too much. Don't let these con artists steal your hard earned money. They deserve to be held accountable for their lack of integrity and absence of basic human decency. There are many other computer stores where you can buy from, just go anywhere other than these jerks who don't even honour their own warranty. Don't find out the hard way like I had to. Be aware and stay away from these liars.

Good prices, pathetic customer service – I paid $199 for a Coolmaster PSU. Not even 5 weeks later the PSU starts making a buzzing sound. I called them and told them, they told me its out of some time period so they cannot replace it, but they told me I can fix it under warranty - but they will have to ship it back to america. I knew this was going to take a while so I just held onto… Read more

it. 6 months later the buzzing sound gets worse. I recorded it on camera and took it back to the shop. After I explained to them it takes a hour or so before the sound starts, they plugged it in and didn't hear nothing. So then I showed them the video of it buzzing, and they told me its my motherboard. I explained to the guy that the sound still happens even if the computer is off, and it comes clearly out of the PSU as the video shows. He kept telling me its my mother board. Eventually they agreed to fix it under warranty for me.

Now the worst part starts. They estimated it will take 4-6 weeks (which is why I let them address it for me) and then it ended up taking 10 weeks or so. I didn't even get the PSU back (got a refund) because this is what happened:

-They emailed me telling me to come in store and they will give me a refund.

-I drive across half of Sydney (in the rain) to get to PCDIY in Granville/Auburn, to get my refund and buy another PSU.

-I go in store, they want to refund me $179. I paid $199. (mind you: they did NOT mention to me I will lose $20 on the PSU if I got a refund). The other PSU I wanted was around the $199 mark as well, so I would of had to get the refund and fork out another 20 bucks for a PSU.

-I got upset, told the guy I'm getting back $199 because that is what I paid. Absolute rubbish. They practically waited till I lose my cool before refunding me the full amount - I regret not going straight to fair trading now.

-He gives me the refund on the condition I don't buy another PSU from there and take my business else where. What a disgusting business approach. Seriously, absolutely pathetic.

TO PCDIY:

I've built all my + family + friends PC's from your equipment. You lost a customer who spends thousands of dollars a year with your business, someone who used to promote your business. The best part: I work in the IT world, recently my workplace was interested in upgrading over 100 PC's with SSDs and I had a voice in where they would purchase them from. Your name came up and I told them to stay away from your company. Im now a detractor of your business. I tell everyone to not shop there. Would rather pay the extra couple of dollars and save myself a headache because dealing with your company is not worth the hassle, the rip-off, and best of all, its not worth being told its your motherboard that has a fault when CLEARLY its the PSU, the video proof + a quick Google search returned back that a lot of people had that issue with the same PSU. Fix your employees attitude to customers if you want your business to last. Absolutely pathetic.

No fuss, no frills – I've bought numerous systems and parts from their Auburn store. They operate similarly to MSY. You have a pdf pricelist, with a no frills warehouse, which keeps the prices down. But I've found them to be generally more organised, polite, and helpful than MSY (which I've had mostly good dealings with as well). If you're a novice with computers,… Read more

then this probably isn't the best place for you to go. But if you know a bit about computers and know what you want, then I'd recommend them highly.

They also have an online store which I've not dealt with yet. May do so in the future. Cheap, organised, no fuss Not ideal for people who don't know much about computers

Smiling & Patient – I built my whole desktop system from their Auburn Sydney store on February this year. Cost around $1300. The guy who took care of me was patient and smiling. customer service. Prices are almost the same, just a few dollars lower or higher.

One advice here, before you go to their store with your shopping list, call them to ask the stock level.
