Peg Perego Pliko Pramette
4 reviews
Excellent – I read heaps of reviews on prams and spoke to other mums about what they found they liked and disliked about their prams. Being a new mum, the pros and cons can be confusing. Ultimately, I came up with a list of requirements:- 1. Not too heavy 2. Not too big so as to take up the whole boot of the car (defeats the purpose of going shopping!) 3. Easy to fold up and down
4. Easy access to undercarriage basket when in full recline
5. Easy to adjust the sitting position
6. something that would recline flat for a newborn
I visited numerous pram shops with my list of requirements and the Peg is the only one which fit the bill on all counts. Although my bub is only 12 weeks and therefore I've only been using it for that long, I think it's the best pram available. I believe its better than the prams in the higher price bracket. Mine cost me $630 which is more than I wanted to spend, but I'm glad I got it.
It is easy to steer, the versatility of bassinet mode or stroller mode is fantastic and there's no switching items - having a seat or a bassinet to attach to a frame.
My baby refuses to sleep on his back too, so the bassinet mode is a godsend. I trialled him for a walk in my 3 wheeler which he liked until he got tired. Not being able to turn him over onto his tummy meant I had a screaming child for the rest of the walk which defeated the purpose of a supposed relaxing exercise. 1. Lightweight for a full size pram (9kgs)
2. Not too big so it doesn't take up the whole boot of the car
3. Easy to fold up and down
4. Easy access to undercarriage basket when in full recline (it has side access)
5. Easy to adjust the sitting position
6. Reclines flat for a newborn
7. Easy to steer (even one-handed)
8. Is compatible with a travel system baby capsule 1.Price
2.The window on the hood has a cover which does not fasten down which can be a problem in wind. I'm planning on attaching a doublesided piece of velcro to mine to solve that problem.
3. Not a brilliant off-road pram, nor is it possible to run with it (the front wheels shake awfully when trying to jog or run as I found out today when caught in rain without my rain cover).
OK – Ok but I wouldn't buy one again. This is a good pram for a newborn but quickly loses it's charm over an extended period. I was disappointed as I really preferred my old Roger Armstrong Elfin (which is about $500 cheaper!). The Elfin was more nimble, easier to push and lighter & easier to fold. I had high expectations for the Pramette and while it's got it's good points it's certainly nothing to write home about long term - especially considering the price. Very attractive for a newborn and in this configuration baby can face you. Reasonably lightweight and easy to unfold. Less attractive in stroller configuration, harness is not really suitable for feisty toddler and my daughter pretty much treats the whole thing as a climbing frame. Pram is not really that robust over a longer period of time and really notsuitable for a larger toddler. Definitely not an all terrain pram and does not perform well outdoors compared to other prams with larger tyres. Basket is difficult to access when in stroller configuration - you pretty much have to accesss it from the side.
Good – Lightweight, easy to steer and very well made (Italian). Good value for money, for use from newborn to toddler. An excellent pram if the majority of use is around shopping centers. After a couple of months of researching we decided on this pram. We like this pram because in bassinet mode baby is facing the parents when being pushed. Another advantage is that there is no need to store the bassinet as it is part of the pram. Maneuverability is fantastic, we cannot keep granddad from pushing bub around when we are shopping. The foot sock which is included in the picture as part of the purchase is invaluable. We thought we would never use it being that we live in Queensland but during the winter we have used it everyday. The fitted carry handle when pram is folded down is useless. Better off picking pram up using the frame. Cup holder is very awkward so didn't bother putting it on.
Excellent – I love this pram so much, everything about it is just so go. It is just the right size, so easy to push around. Folds and unfolds with ease. Really light weight so u can lift it into the car. Great looking, and very easy to clean. It is going to last us for years and years to come. I am so glad I paid the extra for this pram because it is just sooo worht it. I just can't say enough about this pram. nothing at all.
