Penrite Enviro+ Range

I have a BMW 330D with 300,000ksm, I’ve been using Penrite C3 since I owned the car from 110k and the engine is pristine clean, runs like new and drivers perfectly.
No good for cooking chips! – Very slippery especially wearing latex gloves. Fun to pour. Engine loves it, runs smooth and quiet. Liquid gold in and comes out thick black 12 months later. A lovely clean engine. You get a free service sticker with every bottle. Australian made. I like to have a few bottles lying around. No good for chips has poor smoke point. Show details
Best Oil – unlike some morons who can't put the plastic pourer on correctly , i did!...Penrite make quality oils and the only negative comments are from losers who have no idea what they are doing!!
It wasn't broke but then "Scotty" in marketing had his way – * (This review actually pertains to the entire range in plastic containers over 5L, although the problem is probably similar) Goodbye to the best Australian oil range on the market. Your oils have never failed me. In 3 plus decades, over every vehicle we have owned and many of our network. But today I turned, and it is you, not me. I'm retiring… Read more
the keyring. You see, for some stupid reason ,only known to marketers, you went down the road of changing things for change's sake. And with Penrite that change is ALL about packaging. Size shape or usability. ( This time the 10L bottle) But the fail that ends our relationship cost me much time, oil and money. It frustrated me no end and I can't forgive it. Why oh why did you end the option of the screw in plastic tap to use to fill the crankcase or refill elsewhere? The 'stupid' plastic spout pourers are wasteful environmental detriments, that always leak, and as I found out, prone to dislodging. (Yes it was fitted correctly .I tested it multiple times and ensured it was secure. As secure as condom thickness plastic can be) Even though I had cloth laid out across the upper engine area, ( in case this occurred) and I was as careful as possible throughout the refill process, the spout popped off. The result was an extra 2.5 hours of clean up, an interrupted multi job service event, wasted. 700ml of oil (approx) stains and oil on vulnerable components and full engine degreased required on our almost pristine engine area. And seeped into all sorts of unreachable locations. I'm definitely not happy to turn my back on your oil, but there are good oils out there which are not driven by stupid bells & whistles, and who rely on expensive merch. The quality oils offer equitable range and standard these days. Or close enough to do an equal job, at equal oil change intervals. Your company has also placed a higher % premium on it to cover all your unnecessary changes, and to give you returns for racing sponsorship and the burden of non essential marketing and advertising staff. So we the customers do the heavy lifting. Or should I say 'ex-customer' .The obvious relationship with big auto parts players also affects pricing. Before today Penrite would have had 5 full stars from me, but this drama, your exploding upward price spiral (that seems to creep up every month without fail) and the chopping and changing of the simple functionality of a container of oil is the end. Penrite used to be 'all and only about oil'. Not any more. And it shows. The taps were accurate, usable, reliable. In fact 'nothing' would be better than salad dressing an engine compartment via the spout option. Thanks for all the cars you protected, and all the quality support you provided, and fare thee well. UPDATE: 2/7/23 It seems this oil 'may' create engine or sludge issues internally as well. Almost immediately after putting this oil in the catchcan filter became heavily saturated with dirty black oil. It must be related to the oil, because this vehicle did not do it before on other grade type engine oils, and as not since the last oil change using a very reputable (cheaper and also BETTER packaged) , the *catchcan is not blackened at all. This is how *it should look / perform.(as per our other vehicles) I am guessing the 'Enviro' stuff turns into squid ink soon after as it is dropped in. I won't be trialling it to confirm. I'll just stay away.
High consumption – Purchased this oil because of the reputation. Used on mk5 GT golf (504/507 spec) This oil cost more than the usual Castrol I use every 12 month change. I usually only have to top up after 10 months or so with 0.5 - 1.0L. This oil required top ups after 2 months and then again after 6 months. The oil change is not due for another 6 months. Terrible oil consumption and poor fuel economy. Would not recommend. Show details
Reasonable middle-of-the-line oil for a Euro – So far covered approx 4000km using Penrite Enviro+ in my 2018 Skoda Octavia VRS. The pricing was great and economy has been fine, however valve-train noise seems to have increased a little compared to the previous LiquiMoly oil - not sure if that's due to the oil brand or the colder mornings we're getting. It is also using a little more oil than… Read more · 1
before, however, I think I'll continue using Penrite as it's an Aussie company and the pricing is great.
Amazing – Although I have 140,000km on my 2010 2.5L Xtrail, I tried Penrite Oil Enviro+ 5W30 GF-5. The car is smooth, economical and tows with no loss of oil between services. I used to use HPR5 which is recommended by Penrite, however the car was sluggish and fuel economy was reduced. Give the Penrite enviro GF5...you will not be dissapointed. Show details
Happy with its performance – I am using Penrite Enviro+ full synthetic 0W 20 in my recently-purchased 2013 Mazda Verisa. It had actually been filled with the wrong grade of oil - 10W 30, which made cold starts less than immediate and relatively noisy. Once I discovered the car dealer's mistake, I drained off the newish 10W 30 and replaced it with the OW 20 oil. (No wastage… Read more · 1
will result, as the near-new 10W 30 oil will be reused in my Suzuki SX4).
The positive effects of the 0W 20 oil were immediate, as cold starts in winter have been nearly immediate, and the engine has been very quiet and smooth. While I haven't had the chance to compare Penrite with other brands of 0W 20, I must say that it does perform very well. My car accelerates more quickly and effortlessly, making even my work commute a pleasure.
