Both are made in Shepparton Victoria. Sunlight soap is yellow and is their laundry and dirty hands soap. Velvet is white in colour and is their bath soap. It is available at Coles, Woolworths, Foodland, Drake - virtually everywhere but probably not Aldi or Costco. Pental make alot of other stuff like White King, Aim Tootpaste, Country Life, etc.

I assume you are outside of a coverage area for home delivery by Woolworths, Coles, or independent grocers. Why not just buy direct from the factory at Shepparton and avoid the gougers and profiteers? Their prices are very competitive. See - external link 

Is any palm oil ethical? They still cleared the forests for the plantations and it still clogs the arteries, but I guess its a cheap ingredient.

According to Velvet Soap's Material Safety Data Sheet, more than 60% of the soap is made from "Sodium Soap of Palm and Palm Kernel Oils". It doesn't state the source of the palm oil. Here is the link to the data sheet: external link

Not at all. They market it as being suitable for sensitive skins. It is one of the few soaps still made in Australia, at Shepparton Victoria. So that is a big tick. It used to be made from tallow from the local abattoirs. Now I see it is made from palm oil, which would be much cheaper as an ingredient, but it is imported. Pity about that though as there goes the neighbourhood. I'm not so much worried about some poor monkey, but the wholesale destruction of rainforests for someone's short term profit.

Hello and thank you for your enquiry. Velvet and Sunlight Pure Soap are the same products. Our pure soap is branded Sunlight in QLD and NSW and Velvet in the rest of the country. Please note that Pental has decided to consolidate the two brands and relaunch the pure soap under the VELVET brand with a new modern image. The product is still available at Coles, Woolworths and Independent Supermarkets.

The transition happened at the end of May. In some stores the soap might have been out of stock for up to 4 weeks but it should be back is stock now.
