Pentax K-30
MPNs: 15613 and 156251 review
A worthy DSLR – I'm a die-hard film photographer who will never give up on film. However, there are times that digital is necessary and convenient. For the price, the K-30 cannot be beaten for image quality and ergonomics. Works well with my legacy Pentax lenses and has fast Auto-focus. Very good low-light performance although RAW is better in this situation. Occasionally the exposure is slightly over-blown, but adjusting Dynamic Range settings can help here. The optical penta-prism viewfinder is best-in-class. Video performance is good but hampered by a lack of external mic input and suffers from the usual 'rolling shutter' effect of CMOS sensors. Value, image quality, ergonomics, user interface, optical viewfinder, auto-focus, robust design. No external microphone input for video, no HDMI output, occasional slight overexposure.
