the car I wanted, because it was much wider and unsuitable for the narrow country roads I had intended to traverse on my 6 week road trip from Amsterdam to Paris.

Despite some near misses on the narrow country roads, we finally arrived in Bourges, France, only 4 nights away from the end of the trip. That evening I went to the car to put something into our suitcases which were secured in the car out of sight. On lifting the back door and closing it again I had apparently unlocked every door on the car. (This does not happen with my own 2018 Volkswagon SW or my partner's 2020 Mazda 2 Sedan). On closing the tailgate of the 3008, the car remained unlocked and I was totally unaware of this security breach.

The next morning to my horror, our two suitcases were gone along with hundreds of dollars worth of clothes and personal effects. The stars had aligned for an enterprising thief who just happend to be passing in the night and on noticing the mirrors extended, saw an opportunity too good to pass up.

On arrival at the Paris drop-off point, I reported the matter to the staff who said that the car should have locked itself when the driver walks away with the keys. On testing this feature, it failed to operate just like it did 3 nights earlier. He recorded this on my receipt so that I could follow up with Peugeot on return to Australia.

There is still some confusion about whether this 'walk away & lock' feature exists or not on the 3008. However, the fact that opening the tailgate unlocks the whole car is, in my opinion, a major design flaw that doesn't exist on many other cars that are older and of lesser value. Why Peugeot did not consider this to be something important is inexplicable and it should be rectified in the next model. Modern cars often come with features that compensate for human error, but not the Peugeot 3008. By design, it unlocks the whole car for you, thus compromising the security of your belongings, and should you get distracted and fail to relock it, or are unfamiliar with this quirk, it could be an expensive mistake. The 'walk away & lock' feature would compensate for the human error of not re-locking the car, but it would be simpler to isolate the tailgate from unlocking the whole car.

Peugeot does not see itself as being part of the problem in this instance. Instead, they victim blame. It's my fault for not re-locking the car. It's my fault for leaving something of value inside the car. The reality is that we've all done it at some time in the past and we rely on our car to keep our belongings safe and secure. We expect carmakers to incorporate the latest safety and security features in their cars, because you simply can't take all your bulky suitcases into a hotel every night and especially if you are Septuagenarians like myself and my partner. Trying to navigate hotels in old medieval buildings with only a narrow staircase and an overnight bag is hard enough, but with a large suitcase it is outright dangerous.

Peugeot have since offered me 300 Euros in what they call a 'Goodwill Guesture'. When the loss is much greater than that, the offer is an insult. The fact that they even offered me financial compensation implies that they see themselves as bearing some moral responsibility in this matter, but their offer just didn't meet my expectations. By playing 'hardball' and refusing to increase the offer, shows that they are using their power and influence to 'beat me into submission'.

In the end, I reluctantly accepted their offer, as I didn't have the resources to mount a legal challenge with no guarantee of success. However, I do have the power of the 'pen' to present my story as a warning that there are car makers out there like Peugeot who don't consider the safety of your material possessions as being important. Therefore, I urge you to seek out carmakers who do, when considering your next vehicle purchase. Regards Darryl

Don't ever buy this car or brand – I bought this car in Victoria in mid 2016, the car did well until early 2021 at around 85,000 km from which point everything started going wrong with this car including air conditioners, water pumps, coolant leak, oil leaks, which was continuously repaired. Service Centre, however the car was serviced regularly with reputable local mechanics. The nearest Peugeot Service Centre is 400km from where I live. After spending close to $7,000 in repairs over 2 years, the car was still having issues running whereby the car would start and stop and sometimes in the middle of the road, which became a major safety concern. After multiple assessments by local mechanics, they gave up on the car and hence I requested for assistance from Peugeot Australia. They insisted that they cannot help until the car is taken to the authorised Peugeot service centre. I explained my plight of being unable to take the car which is unsafe to drive to a service centre which is 400km away. After months of phone calls Peugeot agreed to tow the car to the service centre. After the car was taken to the service centre it was diagonised that the turbo charger of the car has failed and the centre estimated repair charges of $8,000 to $10,000 which is next to the resale value of the car. I requested support from Peugeot Australia explaining my plight of having spent $7k and needing to spend another $10k for repairs. They flatly denied any support in the first instance statong that the car is past the warranty period. After pleading with Peugeot, they said they will consider the claim under goodwill. After presenting them with all the repair invoices and the service history, and after explaining the story to multiple agents, who changes each time you ring them, they denied any support stating that one of the service companies used the non recommended oil. After checking on google which pointed that the mechanic had used the recommended oil, I went back to Peugeot who wouldn't budge. So no support from Peugeot from this point. Now the service centre people 400km away is putting pressure on me to take the car away or they will charge me storage fees, I checked whether they will buy the car which they won't. Ringing around mo one wants to buy a Peugeot because of its issues. So the car which has done under 100,000 km given 4 years of service, cost close to $40,000 in buying, service and repairs is fit only for wreckers who wants it for under $500. Lessons learnt 1. Don't ever buy Peugeot car in Australia 2. Car sales and service pepple are good to you only when you buy the car. After warranty, you are treated like dirt

Awesome car, love it! – 5000kms in and still living this beauty. It's a pleasure to drive, very practical with the family and certainly a head turner. Great looking car, fun to drive and lots of goodies – I've owned my 3008 since April 2020. the factory intended. The fit and finish inside and out are exemplary. I've owned dozens of cars. Almost without exception they have been purchased new and have been top of the range across high performance sedans, wagons, full and mid size SUVs and so on, so I can fairly make comparisons with a lot of other mfrs and models. Plus a lot of kms in rentals. In terms of quality and clever design the Pug is outstanding. It's loaded with useful options, with electric everything, including the tailgate, all the safety gear together cameras all round. It has smart use of space. Plenty of room inside for folk of all sizes and very comfortable, nappa leather, fully adjustable drivers seat and steering wheel. The rear load compartment is much more than ample for a small SUV, has fold flat rear seats and a ski hole etc. Performance is more than adequate in the city, full consumption seems about average, but hard to judge when it's virtually all local commuting. On the open road (once), cruising at 110Km is effortless and and seems to have plenty in reserve. As above there are so many gizmos, including the sun roof, it takes time to learn about them all, and I still haven't fully mastered self parking, but active cruise control and lane keeping are really smart. Mine came with a 5 year warranty and free service. The Pug isn't cheap, but in my opinion it's great value for money and fun to drive.

Fuel Use – Be careful on use of fuel, make sure you put 95 or above as car will not like it. Engine light comes on and reduces power. European fuel is superior to Australian fuel. Do not use e10. Show details

What a car !!!!! – Bought a 2019 3008 Allure after going for a test drive. Wife chose it and after prying it out of her hands for a day I think I”m going to trade in my commodore on one as well. Simply the Best – Firstly you have to compare apples with apples. There is little or no comparison between the P84 and all the models that came before it. This is quite simply the best car we have ever owned for build quality, styling, comfort, functionality not to mention street appeal. tested, no weird noises, no weird smoke, nothing. Made the payment, got into the car and I totally enjoyed it! At least for the first 5 miles before the oil pressure sign went on and a big STOP appeared. Yes, 5 miles. I went straight back into the dealer and landed like D day in Normandy asking for my money back. Car was bad and the dealer knew? I don’t know, but believe me, that got me scared enough to avoid this brand all cost. No car design is nicer than peace of mind!

It Will Cost You – Purchased the car privately in December 2017 with 32,000KM on the clock. Absolutely loved it for the first ~9 months I owned it. Light came back on a few days later, repeated the process, and then a few days after that. - Oct 2018 - Jan 2019: Went to the dealer 5 times, 4 times on the back of a tow truck. First three times to replace sensors on the turbocharger to try to fix the recurrent check engine light, once to fix the air conditioning, and then one final time to replace the entire turbocharger itself. Cost was more than $3000 in total, and that was even after Peugeot agreed to replace the turbocharger without cost (which would've been another $2.5k) - Jan 2019 - Jan 2020: Persistent, but occasional engine knocking when accelerating, tried to have it diagnosed at the mechanic, but was impossible because they couldn't replicate it. - Jan 2020: Broke down in the Clem7 tunnel, every light on the dashboard illuminated, towed to the dealership AGAIN. ABS control unit failed, $2813 estimate for the part, and then whatever else for the labour. No, thank you.

Towed it from the dealership to my front yard, where it's now sitting, undriveable. Only put 26,000 kilometers on it in just over two years.

A complete and total lemon. Bowen Hills dealership service was also not great, forgetting to ring back, leaving parts on the floor of the car, once accidentally sending my car key with another of car to Stanthorpe, if you can believe it. Stay away at all cost. Do yourself a favour, buy a Toyota.

It is one of the new products emerging from the company's renaissance and marks at turning point in quality and reliability as evidenced in a recent JD Power survey. I would have preferred if the turbo engine ran on E10 94 RON instead of 95 RON Premium fuel, however.

Newcastle was great to deal with and showed us a lot of the extra features we would have taken ages to discover ourselves. We saw an ad for Peugeot’s online and wasn’t something we thought would be in our budget initially but is great value for money. 15k in and we haven’t had any problems. We recommend this car!

Very disappointing – A year past its manufacturing warranty and only with 25,000km on the Odometer we experienced the air conditioning failure. the clock is unexpected and probably unheard of. We discussed the issue with Peugeot Australia and requested reimbursement on the premise that such a failure on such a low kilometre vehicles constitutes a premature failure but they refused to accept and they indicated that if the authorised dealer who serviced the car reports as a premature failure they might consider. Accordingly we contacted the service group for such a report and they also refused.

I must say, we have never had such a disappointing experience with any other cars than Peugeot. With other cars, if there was a major issue (even past the warranty) the manufacturer always went out of their way to help.

I should also add that we have had many other minor issues with this vehicle over last 4 years and to our opinion this vehicle and the make is of a poor quality and certainly the Peugeot's customer service is not to our liking.

Woeful – I have just spent $5000 to repair a 4 year old car that is 3 months past warranty. The NRMA said "it happens" and they have no way of knowing if it was something that had been existing for a while, or had just happened. They discovered metal shavings in the fuel line and said that if it had been a Japanese car the same repair would have been around $1500. Nice looking car, but no more European for me.  Show details

On the other hand, Peugeot Australia has been considerate so far in understanding the case and has provided financial assistance in some cases, even being out of warranty.

To sum up, we like the car but would like it more if it would work properly.

your Apple Car-play or Android-Auto. The drive is soft with great handling. I wouldn't suggest this is an off-roader, but the ride is very comfortable around town. Plenty of storage space in the rear and the passengers feel very comfortable in this vehicle. Would highly recommend this SUV.

cruise set at 105kmh the car was ticking over at 1800rpm and sipping 4lt per 100km.

Also very quiet on the highway and the torque is great.

Servicing is for us once a year although our dealership have said to bring the car in each six months. The six month check is free and the yearly service is fixed price. Wow!!!

We could not imagine driving a car without HUD (head up display) now.

For a start the HUD was distracting but now it is absolutely brilliant and should be standard on all cars!

If I was going to fault anything it would be the lack of reversing camera (should be standard on every car) and in built SatNav.

But we had a reversing camera fitted after market.

Also the electronic parking brake is good, but I still find it hard to trust something you haven't pulled on the lever yourself (there is no lever only a button)

Also no spare tyre is something I don't like. Economy, servicing, features lack of reversing camera, no spare wheel (only repar kit),
