Company runs auctions that are not genuine – Auction was advertised as closing at 10:00 am. I checked status of bids at about 10:05 am and found that I was the winning bidder on two items (one item had no reserve and for the other the bidding had passed the reserve). Later that afternoon, I was advised by e-mail that my bids were unsuccessful.

"Buyer beware" I was told by staff member of Philips Auction (Malvern, Vic) – "Buyer Beware" I was told by a senior staff member of Philips Auction (Malvern, Vic) when bidding. I had called them prior to bidding for an item to find out whether the item was in working order. I was told it was, hence bidding for the item and becoming the successful bidder. When we received the item, it did not work at all and there was a missing piece. Had contacted them to let them know that it did not work (misleading me) but they were not interested in rectifying the issue - instead I received an ear full from their senior person. A disgrace! Treating customers in this manner and telling me to place it back in the auction is unacceptable and unprofessional. Will NEVER deal with Philips Auction in Malvern, Victoria again. Will be lodging a formal complaint against their practices to Consumer Affairs Victoria. I certainly will in future take their advice of "Buyer Beware" when dealing with them.
