While the Philips Airfryer XXL is a solid and well-built appliance, I’m honestly not sure if it’s worth the premium price tag. The larger basket makes a massive difference in how much you can cook at once, which is a huge plus for families or roasting a whole chicken, but beyond the size, I haven’t noticed much of a difference compared to cheaper… Read more
models. Philips heavily markets their "Fat Removal Technology" as a standout feature that separates and captures excess fat, but in my experience, I haven't seen any discernable difference in the food quality or the amount of fat collected. It seems to function much like any other basket-style fryer on the market. It heats up quickly and is very easy to use, but you are paying a lot extra for a specific technology that doesn't feel any different from the standard way these machines cook. Furthermore, despite the premium design, I’ve found that it is still quite difficult to clean, with the extra parts and large basket taking up significant space and effort. If you specifically need the extra capacity, it’s a high-quality machine, but I wouldn't buy it just for the health or convenience claims.
Broke just outside of warranty – We purchased a second Phillips air fryer as the first one we had lasted a long time. After upgrading to the better model in March 2021 I am very disappointed that the air fryer no longer works. Not great value for a $400 product. Show details

Makes meals quick and easy – Don’t get me wrong the staple chicken nuggets and chips are quick and easy, However with the extras you can purchase to fit in your air fryer like baking pan and skewers makes nutritious meals so easy. The baking dish is fabulous, I don’t even both turning my oven on anymore the food turns out better in this. Lasagnas, pasta bakes, potato bake ect… Read more · 1
you know it even cupcakes and cakes. Highly recommended. Have had since the first model come out years and years ago.
Really, every kitchen needs an Air Fryer – Have previously owned a Philips Air Fryer ...one of the original with the simple “clockwork” timer. Whilst it has worked well, the opportunity presented itself to update to the new XXL model with newer features and a larger capacity...at an end of financial year price. If you have never owned one of these air fryers, it will be difficult to… Read more
underscore the degree of simplicity and versatility they can bring to your kitchen. We often use it instead of our wall based ovens because of this and the consistency of cooking it brings.
APPEARANCE Basically, a largish black tub that is semi-portable and can be placed out on your bench top when needed. Complementing the gloss black finish is an orange hued LCD display which will clearly show set temperature and cooking time on demand. Two touch buttons control the temperature (max. 200 degrees) and time (max. 60min) and once these are pressed, adjustments in each of these is made by rotating the circular knob on the front. Pushing in the centre of this knob starts the device. The internal cooking area slides out for adding your food and consists of a wire mesh bottomed container which is inserted into a slightly larger container which captures any grease or cooking oils lost during use.
FUNCTIONALITY Use of the controls is fairly self explanatory and requires little reference to the manual (a booklet populated with numerous clear diagrams and explanations). There are numerous safety warnings (as you would expect with any mains powered device that works at high temperatures) and these are clearly set out in the manual. Also, there is explanation for the five pre-programmed settings for different “common” cooking operations you can select along with a "manual override" that you can set as a favourite. There is also a “keep warm” mode which periodically restarts the air fryer to maintain temperature while you prepare other items. We use it for primarily for frozen fries, fresh vegetables and steak. Capacity is stated as up to 1.4kg of fries although you can stick a small chicken in it too. Included with the fryer is a nickel plated Double Layer Rack (see photo below) which allows you to separate different items to be cooked eg fish and chips. There is also the ability to hold kebabs but the sticks are not included. You really can't fault the work of the AirFryer. It cooks food consistently well while removing unnecessary fat. It also doesn't add unnecessary heat to your kitchen during a typical Queensland summer day/evening as a wall oven would. Comes with a two year warranty.
WHAT COULD BE BETTER? While a big improvement over the previous version, it’s not perfect. 1) Personally, we find the pre-programmed settings unnecessary and prefer to go with our own settings which we have found through previous use. Having said that, I guess it would be handy as a starting point for any newbie to one of these devices. 2) In the bottom of the “large cooking container” is a removable deflection plate. Philips calls this the “Fat Reducer”, however, I can’t see any difference either with it in or out. It does annoy me when I forget to remove it and gravity does its work when I tip the container upside down in the dishwasher. The wire mesh base clips into the cooking basket so you get the bonus of leaving it in for cleaning (without gravity playing its part) or removing it for separate cleaning. Overall, cooking surfaces seems to be "non-stick" facilitating cleaning.
These, however, are somewhat trifling complaints. As previously indicated, cooking parts are able to fit in the dishwasher with judicious placement. The wire mesh cooking base has thus far resisted any form of corrosion ...which is a lot more than I can say for other appliances I have owned. Overall, it feels well built and while somewhat pricey at a RRP of $499 if you can find it at a lower price (as I did) it’s a definite asset to any kitchen.

Love, Love, Love!!! – Love both of my Philips Airfryers I have had for years! Both were Birthday Presents (different years) that I still love using constantly years later!! Perfect for Healthy & Tasty Foods of ALL kinds! From Vegetables, Roasts, Cuts of Meat, Casseroles, Baking to "Frying" -- the options ARE literally endless! Easy to use. I love I have NEVER had any issues with my Philips Airfryers! I will NEVER own another brand again - due to another brand almost causing a house fire & was a known fault.
I honestly cannot fault this amazing Philips machines & highly recommend this to ALL my friends & family (& have been for years!) - certainly NOT like others claiming to be what Philips truly are - THE BEST & THR Original AIRFRYER!
Philips Customer Support was amazing - friendly & helpful staff who went far & beyond with my enquiry.
Easy to register your machine for Warranty online in your Philips Account.
For those unsure &/or think its only for "Fried or Frozen Foods" you will not be disappointed & truly pleasantly surprised . They ARE worth their weight in gold!!! I will NEVER be without a XXL now!!
Philips XXL airfryer! – As a mother of small children this is one appliance I can’t live without! It is just so convenient! Not having to wait for an oven to preheat, when the kids are hungry and tired after school/daycare is an absolute life saver! I have previously owned the XL, which broke after 2.5hrs heavy use. I appreciate the bigger size, as I can now use it for… Read more · 1
baking also. Whilst not really big enough to bake a standard cake as it burns to top. Or a family size roast, as it is not deep enough. But regularly use it for slices and scones or reheating muffins and croissants to make them crispy again. They make cooking smaller protein portions like chicken breasts a breeze. But my it’s best attribute to cooking the frozen items like pies, sausage rolls, chicken nuggets and chips etc I don’t feel it is as efficient in heating as the previous model. Taking longer to cook the same portions as previous. It is extremely user friendly, with easy press buttons and the draw pulls out easily, but still feels secure. Despite being more expensive than other highly rated brands, it’s quality and ease of use, keeps me recommending this product to others.
Forget the cheaper brands – I originally purchased a Phillips XL Air fryer and loved it but found it a little small. When Aldi launched their Ambiano brand airfryers, I bought two and both failed at their first use. I had one refunded and one replaced. The Aldi replaced one is temperamental and overheats and cuts out on a regular basis. I then purchased a Smith and Noble 10… Read more
litre and within weeks the catch holding the basket in failed, making it very dangerous. I then purchased the Phillips XXL and I cant understand why I bothered with trying such inferior products to the XXL, just because they were cheaper. The drawer mechanism on the Phillips is far superior to other brands, the heating is much more even and cooking is much quicker. The new model XXL has the bottom of the basket as a removeable mesh grid which makes cleaning very easy. I purchased the extra grill plate for the bottom and I am very glad I did. Its a brilliant machine, with no nonsense hassles, and very good quality. You truly do get what you pay for.

Great all rounder for all types of air frying – The food produced are as good or better than the oven. I've cooked scones, frittatas, bread and butter pudding, pumpkin pies. Small roasts, roasted potatoes, carrots. Reheating pies, sausage rolls. So versitile. Show details · 1
Best thing I bought – I love this product. Best thing I purchased. It goods perfectly everytime and evenly too. I have cooked roasts, pork bellies, potatoes, chicken and even cakes. I hardly use my oven any more. I definitely recommend this to everyone. It's a must have appliance to have in your kitchen Show details · 1
Top quality Air fryer – Just brilliant ! Leaps and bounds over the others in the market. Expensive but you get what you pay for here. Tried a couple of the lower budget options, and while good they were clunky and awkward to use. This is so simple, easy to use and most importantly a breeze to clean. Produces great food and comes with a sample recipe book, which will leave you wanting to try more and more in this great device. Show details · 1

Very Disappointed in its life span – On an average was only used once a week for mainly frozen chips Product was purchased Dec 2018 and died in July 2022 not a very good life span for a product that cost $412.00 Very disappointed Show details

Dont waste your money – I wasted my money for this airfryer. It started to peel off next day after buying it although we use it very carefully. They used cheap material and sold it in high price. find. I thought it is from metal but it is made of plastic. I waited for ages to buy it on sale and when I applied for 50$ bonus the company make excuses to not return 50$ to me. Fantastic appliance - use it more than my oven as it is so versatile – This is a fantastic appliance. This is my first air fryer. It holds a huge amount as well as being very quick at cooking. Philips also offer a great app featuring lots of different recipes to try out in the air fryer. This model also features fat removal and it is scary to see how much oil can come out of various products whilst cooking. This… Read more · 1
cooks chips well but I have also purchased the original grill plate and baking accessories for it. Cooks steak and pork to perfection. From the cleaning perspective it is relatively easy to clean however you do need to turn it upside down if you want to clean the heating element well. I love this air fryer so much that I have bought the same model for my holiday house.
It's still working well after more than 2 years – I can't speak highly enough about this product. I'm horrified how much oil comes out or supermarket chips or reheating KFC. Easy to cook a chicken and just enough room for road potatoes. The solid basket bought separately saves cleaning a lot and cooks cakes and bacon and eggs pie etc so quickly. An amazing product! Love my Philips XXL digital airfryer. Have just ordered another – I use my Philips airfryer everyday, cooking steak with the Grill Plate(an additional accessory now but was included in the box when i purchased this item from Costco in 2019). Its great for chips, roasting baking, reheating frozen foods. I do a cauliflower bake from Aldi in 25 minutes @ 180c. Just awesome and recommended time is 45 minutes @ 200c… Read more · 1
in a convection oven. Cleaning isn't a problem either as its dishwasher friendly and is quite easy to remove the basket. I use some kitchen paper to soak up the oil that drains to the bottom of the basket. It's healthier quicker cooking. Takes very little time to heat up and cooks 30% quicker than ovens. I love it so much the only issue I have is I need another as when I am preparing 2 recipes that require different temperatures, I need to wait till one has completed before commencing to cook the 2nd dish. Hence i am purchasing the Smart sensor Philips XXL next week.
Stoped working – Was good until it stoped working. Only got just over 12months wont spend that much money again. Threw it in the bin worst $500 I have ever spent I highly recommend do not buy it. It kept having over temp come on when it’s been off for days. Show details

Great product – It's fast, doesn't heat up your kitchen and does a really good job of crisping food. It's better for foods naturally high in fat like chicken legs. It is large, so be aware of that. Show details · 1
This is a multi cooker – We love this product as it saves us lots of time with cooking. It is easy to clean and it does multiple things like frying, heating, grilling. I can even fry peanuts and it turned out to be crunchy, and quick. Just bought another one for my mum. I would recommend this product to everyone. Show reply
Best cooking ware I have ever bought – This has to be the best kitchen appliance I have ever bought. It is very convenient and easy to use. It saves me from using my large oven wasting power and time to heat up as this machine heats up in a blink. Highly recommended to all Show details · 1
Perfect, I cant live without it! – I've had the prior Phillips air-fryer models and can say that cleaning this one is so much easier! I use it everyday and don' t know what i would do with out it. Easy to use, easy to clean and makes amazing food! Show details · 1

Love this machine – You can use this good quality piece of kitchen equipment to cook almost anything you would in an oven. Hot chips (home made or shop bought) come out perfectly. Reheating different food such as pastries to chicken wings or even roast meats from raw. So versatile we use it daily! Uses little power and I can reheat small amounts of things without turning on our huge oven. Show details · 1
Would be convenient, but too failure prone – I did use this air fryer a lot - it was very convenient for thinks like frozen chips, schnitzels and roast vegetables, etc. Unfortunately I have experienced several design faults that have left me wondering whether I made the right choice. I had to send it back once when the interface died, and the new unit rattled and shook like crazy (there is… Read more
clearly something wrong with the fan) with an interlock that didn't seem to work either. The second unit eventually failed completely as well, and this time Philips is not responding to attempts to resolve the issue.
As they are not responding to my repeated attempts to resolve the issue, I am left with a very expensive pile of junk if Fair Trading does not resolve the issue.

Simply Amazing – This Philips AirFryer is simply an amazing piece of technology. It is super efficient in cooking food and results in food being crispy without the need of oil. Would absolutely recommend for anyone looking for a healthier way to cook. It cooked 50 mini Dim Sims in 20 miniutes with not one undercooked or still frozen. This product is super easy to clean and can be used from baking to grilling to frying. Show details · 1
This is Perfect – Air fryer fries the food pretty quick and the food is always crispy when taken out. The chips especially! However the air fryer is difficult to clean due to its heavy weight. Show details · 1
Best thing I've brought – The best thing I have brought we cook everything in it. Dont cook something that has a lot of fat on it. As the fat spits up on the heating element and starts to smoke. Show details · 1
Game Changer Kitchen Appliance – I was on the fence if I should buy this or not as I don't eat a lot of 'fried' food. However after reading the great recipes online which include the fried food but lots of other recipes then I bought one. like oven chips it cooks them 2/3rds quicker and turn out better. Roasted veggies are another great thing again much quicker than my oven. Fish, Steaks, Chicken are all possible. Downsides are although cleaning is easy there is a lot of bits to fit in your dishwasher although a quick rinse under the tap works well. Plus time will tell if the non-stick coatings last over time.
A++++ game changer product for me which saves me a lot of time for after-work-mid-week cooking.
Good, but not sure the price tag worth it – I started with a smaller Phillips air fryer and always liked it, so decided to upgrade to the XXL model during a sale. I got no complaint about its speed of "frying" and cooking. Foods like chips, nuggets, fish fillets, chicken wings are cooked well & evenly, just not sure it's a lot better than my $100+ except can fit in more at a time. I didn't… Read more
quite like the "oil reduction" tray inside, not sure it made a real difference to my food. To me, just one extra thing to wash. Still unsure whether it's ok to put in the dishwasher, as it looks like the inside is coated with a nonstick coating (don't quote me)? Still worthy appliance, just buy it on sale, not worth it at RRP.
Love it! Went from no cooking skills to making meals for the family! So amazing – We bought one after using my parents. WOW! How is it this simple to make everything from chips to steak to chicken breast all with the push of a few buttons? We never fried food in the hoise before. Just too much work but now frozen chips go from bag to tray. 180 degrees and 10 mins later we have perfectly chrisp chips. So many recipes and so hard… Read more

I have bought a lot of appliances to "help" me cook over the years from a slow cooker to a Regal Cook4Me but this is completely fool proof.
Highly recommend it and great for busy families.
Plus I wash everything in the dishwasher. Brilliant!
My new favourite appliance! – The Philips XXL AirFryer is my new favourite appliance! It’s taken over the tasks that my oven and deep fryer would normally get given. Cook time is ridiculously fast and I love that there is no preheat time. The machine itself is large enough to cook a whole chicken! I’ve noticed food is a lot less oilier when we cook in the AirFryer. The… Read more · 1
instructions are easy to understand and straight forward. My husband is dying to get his hands on it to give it a whirl. Everyone goes to bed with a full belly after I make dinner in the AirFryer! Oh and it’s super easy to clean!
Not working – Purchased this a couple of days ago and thought I'd start off with something easy. So followed instructions on how to do the homemade fries. Well after an hour of trying and retrying it's just not happening. Airfryer will not heat up. Very disappointed will be returning this airfryer tomorrow. Show details
One of the best appliances you can have in your kitchen – I had the old ones. But needed a bigger one. I do love these things. I make a bbq chicken in it every week. Takes 60 mins. I cut it up and make wraps for boys school lunches. The kids can also just put things in it when they get hungry. Party pies, spring rolls, fish etc... get it it’s worth it. I couldn’t live without this. One of best things Phillips has ever made. I can’t fault it. Show details
Favourite Kitchen Appliance – I wish I got on to this earlier - what a huge time save and another means of cooking healthy meals. flavour and juicy. Cleaning is easy - removable parts straight into the dishwasher. Only part a little hard to clean is the top element. I cant rave enough about this air fryer. Will be purchasing accessories to try baking recipes
Indispensable kitchen workhorse! – I first purchased the smaller sized Philips XL Airfryer, but found it too small for meals for 2 adults, and the occasional additional person. However the concept was so brilliant that after one month I sold the XL and purchased the larger XXL size. The Airfryer does all “brown” cooking, i.e. baking, dry-frying, grilling. It sits on my bench-top… Read more
and we use it at least once every day. It bakes fish for two people in 10 minutes to perfection. No oil needed, the fish cooks in its natural oil - seared on the outside and moist on the inside. Same for steak. Even whole roasts a small whole chicken with veggies. Just set the timer and leave the Airfryer to do its magic. We’ve been using it every day for 15 months, sometimes multiple times per day – great for students to quickly cook packaged snacks like oven bake fish, pies, sausage rolls – in 10 minutes rather than 20-30 minutes in conventional oven. There is no preheating. Just put the food in and set the temperature and time - although most foods cook on the maximum 200 degrees setting. Uses much less power than a conventional oven. For best potato chips, soak the potatoes in water first to wash off surface starch before airfrying in a tsp of oil, salt, rosemary. I recommend watching the videos that are on Youtube.
The only negative I’ve found is that the design of the Airfryer makes it difficult to clean fat-splatter from the roof of the Airfryer behind the element where I can’t get a steel pad through all the way. (The drawer parts can go in the dishwasher). Stale fat smells when re-heated – so it really is necessary to clean the fat from behind the element, even semi-frequently. I haven’t checked out other brands but if the element is at the top in other airfryers, then the cleaning problem will be the same as for the Philips Airfryer. If a better design hits the market that is easier to clean I will swap over. Apart from the fat collection being difficult to clean, the Philips XXL Airfryer is the most useful appliance in our kitchen next to the water kettle. It’s a workhorse and is indispensable!
I bought my Airfryer when Philips were offering $50 Mother's Day cashback promo. I later bought another one for a wedding gift.
NB: I also purchased the Aldi Airfryer because it looked easier to clean than my Philips Airfryer, but returned it for refund after a week because it was too noisy and also the cooking drawer didn’t slide smoothly and frequently was fiddly to close properly. It doesn’t have sliding tracks like the Philips Airfryer does. The Aldi Airfryer is much cheaper and is inferior in quality to the Philips Airfryer.
