Fantastic when it worked. Think I got a lemon :-( – Brought this monitor from big w. It has loads of features and uses rechargeable batteries. Baby's monitor can be used by main or battery and in a blackout monitor turns ova to battery which is great. Unfortunately now after 10 mths of use the parent unit display only shows some of the words and no temp. Really disappointed as I loved this feature… Read more

Unreliable – I've had this monitor for 10 months and the past few months it has been a pain turns of all the time in the middle of the night when it is on the charger and I can't hear my baby cry and it won't turn on again until hours later its just done it again but refuses to turn back on waste of money and has made me very upset that my poor son has been… Read more

Great features and surprisingly clear that I can hear my bub snoring ever so softly! – I had my doubts about this at first as some of the reviews on here mentioned the audio was really low. Admittedly, when we have a house full of guests (including several very loud, excitable toddlers) we often hear my baby's real cries drifting down the stairs before we notice the monitor, but on a normal evening, the sound is clear enough to hear… Read more

his gentle little snores.

This is a great little monitor with a fantastic set of nifty features; I do like that we can control the lullaby music on/off using the receiver so as not to have to enter baby's room and disturb him as he tries to fall asleep. The receiver also has lights that indicate the level of noise (ie one light flashes if baby is just stirring, and all lights flash when he's having a full-blown cry), so if even if you turn the volume down to silent you still have visual indicator that there's noise coming from the base unit. The temperature sensor is also very handy, especially now that we're heading into summer. It's also got a cool walky-talky feature (though I normally use that for communication with Dad when he's in the room with baby and I'm downstairs preparing dinner hahaha).

The unit is sleek, looks great and is very portable. We take it to my parents' place when they are baby-sitting; the base unit can run on 4 AA batteries and the receiver is charged every night when we have it in its dock on my bedside table so there's no need for cables.

8 months in and no issues (no static as other have experienced). The only thing I'd do to improve it would be to be able to control volume the base unit from the receiver. Can control base unit (eg play lullaby music, turn on night light) without disturbing baby, noise level and temperature indicators on receiver unit, great battery and portability Some might volume too low, but personally never had an issue with it.

Crystal clear reception – I wanted clear reception and got it with the Phillips Baby Monitor. No buzzing, no interference and the signal never dropped out. Incredibly easy to set up and use. Great range on the volume and sensitivity settings as well. On the highest volume and sensitivity it is incredibly loud and the sound detection lights make my room like a disco which… Read more

is great if you need it that loud. I love that you can take it off charge and wander around the house with if for a decent amount of hours before plugging it back in.

Definitely value for money. Sensitive, clear reception Pricey

I will NEVER buy a monitor from Philips Avent again – To put it bluntly, this monitor is a POS. The free, cheap one I got with a sleep apnoea board works so much better. There are some redeeming features such as the room temp but that's about it. The reason why I hate this item is because of the of following: When it decides to charge, it makes a very loud ringing noise It takes 24hrs or more to… Read more

charge to full

It DOESNT WANT TO CHARGE.

The base unit has a very bright light on it, I had to put some tape over it to darken my babies room!

I got so frustrated with trying to get the handset to charge this machine I threw it away. Occasionally when it does charge, I had to tilt it on the base a particular way. Now I dont know if it was a luck of the draw or not, but I have no desire to find out. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT. The room temperature monitor function

Bad – A very basic unit. I actually wanted to get a different one but was in a hurry and the shop I went to didn't stock the one I was looking for. While this one is clear and has little interference, I am disappointed with the volume - it's not loud enough, the price for what you get - no temperature or any other features except for the basics, and… Read more

now, 5 months in it has started to randomly cut out so at times there is no connection whatsoever with the baby's room. Given the price, I'm really disappointed that it has stopped working and will be investigating if I can return it. I wouldn't recommend this unit. Lights up when baby makes noise so you don't have to hear it (ie if you have loud music on, TV etc you can still see that the baby is awake). Clear with little or no interference. Volume nowhere near loud enough. Occasionally when I turned it on it wasn't actually connected to the baby's room even though the light indicated that it was. Price for what you get - very basic.

Great monitor, very bad customer support / product support – I have the SCD530, which is a great monitor, but Philips took over two months to narrow down the problem of the parent unit not working giving two possibilities without being concrete. Moreover, the unit was received as a gift and Philips would not guarantee the unit based on the serial number without the receipt. Philips stated the battery had a 7 year life; my unit lasted less than 3 years! SCD530 Great Feature Non-supportive Company!

Clear and accurate – We have had this monitor about 2yrs and it has only just started to have some static. Good if you get a good one!!! – A versatile and really good unit. Unfortunately our has only ever worked up to around 80M (uninterupted line of sight), not the 330M claimed by Philips. The unit started playing up after around 3 months and was returned for repair. This took 6 to8 weeks so we had to purchase another cheaper brand to see us through. Since then. All has generally… Read more

been good, however it often beeps and won't charge properly. I think that now maybe the battery is faulty as it will not charge and. Just continually beeps every 15 to 20 seconds.

As it is now out of warranty the problem is that I cannot readily find a replacement battery, although EBay UK has them for around $16 AUS plus delivery. Surely they must be available in Australia?

Overall possibly the best around and certainly most expensive - if you can get a good reliable one. After sales support is not good! Clarity, features, sensitivity, humidity, temperature and as walky talkie. Not terribly reliable and not up to expectations with advertised distance.

Great quality and reliable – This monitor is a life saver. I spend a lot of time outside and this monitor will go with me everywhere, from that it has a great range and in my area works from down the road (not that I go that far but we tested it one day), and the batteries last for hours. Very sensitive which is great if ur baby has a quiet cry or has reflux you know when… Read more

I found in the early days I used to attend to my son to soon as I thought he was waking up but he was just making noises in his sleep.

Good – This is a great monitor for those parents who have bubs in their own room from day 1. I found the sensitivity a little too much for me as I am an extremely light sleeper but for most this would be a benefit (we even had the monitor on the other side of the room and we could still hear her breathing). The walkie talkie feature was great as if we… Read more

forgot something while trying to put her asleep I could hear my husband asking for it without him having to shout out. I found this monitor fantastic even though the price is quite high if your concerned (especially first time parents) it's worth the piece of mind. Gives temperature, humidity and is very sound sensitive. Lots of opportunity to change settings and is easy to do so (eg: volume, sensitivity). Has a night light (though not very bright) and has backlight so you can come in in the dark and make changes if needed. Also has walkie talkie feature. Has lights along the top of the remote piece (the more lights the louder the sound). Was very expensive. Found that even on the lowest sensitivity setting picked up every sound (even the clock ticking in the room)

Not for quiet baby's – Our little girl is a quiet crier so we went out and brought this. Which we are sadly disappointed in as the volume is to quite and the senser is not senitive enough to pick her. She is know 10 weeks old and she is starting to cry louder but still is quite and it just picks her up when she is screaming. easy to set up.

What every parents needs – This is a great monitor. I had one of those 'sensor' ones and have found this one to be much better. Firstly, there is one chanel so you don't have to stuff around getting the right one, and there is no 'interference' with this monitor despite us having the base right next to an Apple TV and HD TV. It picks up all sounds and lights up in bright… Read more

Super handy, especially in a multi-storey dwelling – Being in a 2 storey home, its reassuring to be able to hear when our baby stirs over the household noises (heating, TV etc.). Even when set on a lower volume the blue light indicators alert us to baby sounds. Its great to be able to play lullubies from the 'parent monitor' and not have to go back into room. Also to be able to talk to someone… Read more

downstairs or upstairs via the device (like a walkie talkie) is very handy. I read that the sensitivity and volume was low before purchasing, and it does seem quiet when first bringing baby home. But you soon learn you don't actually need or want it any louder. Also didn't need to buy a separate room temp guage as this monitor has a fairly accurate one that is viewable on the parent monitor (however, it would be handy if it was viewable also on the main device when in bub's room) Mulitple controls on the parent control ie. lullaby, volume, room temperature, sensitivity and walkie talkie functionality. Would be ideal if the temp reading was also available on the main monitor as well as the parent monitor - to help determine bedding requirements when in bubs' room.

Has all the features but temperature gauge is inaccurate – I bought this on recommendation from a friend and found it to be useful in the early days, you can check the temperature, adjust the sound and carry it around with you using the lanyard or clip. However, I did observe the following as we've used it: Sometimes the sound pickup is not immediate i.e. you first hear the baby in the house before the… Read more

monitor picks it up. Also, because the monitor is off unless the baby makes a noise, I first thought the monitor wasn't working and kept checking on the baby.

The temperature is not 100% accurate either and to see it in the middle of the night you need to press the volume or menu button to light up the screen.

The talk feature is great, not so much to talk to the baby (who doesn't understand "go to sleep"!) but if your partner is with the baby and you are downstairs and you need to speak it is definitely useful.

The other music and light features were not used and I think they could do without. Next time I would purchase a monitor with a video, I think that would be more useful.

After about 7 months of using the monitor I've now started to experience some static coming through but the unit has a 2 year warranty so they will give you a new one if the product is faulty. Talk function is useful, easy to use and link up Temperature can be inaccurate, problems with static

Good – We previously had been using a second hand Tommie Tippie teddy bear monitor, but the interference level increase dramatically when we moved it into another room. The sound lights are bright blue and easily visible across the room, but it is not as loud as the old monitor (but still completely adequate). The parent unit is very small and handy with good battery life. You can control the light and music from the parent unit. The music is very clear (although we have not used this feature). There is a light on the room unit which is good for illuminating baby in the cot but does not provide enough light to change a nappy, so you will need an additional light if your room is dark. Temperature readout is clear and appears to be accurate.

We are very happy with this product, it's much better than our old baby monitor. Zero interference from any sources. Compact size. Good battery life. Light is very dim. Not as loud as other monitors.

Bad – Bought this monitor before bub was born and tested it out, seemed to work fine. Both the parent and baby units are small and compact - parent unit is very portable. Parent unit needs to be recharged quite frequently (but it comes with quite a long cord so that's not really a problem). Good – Fantastic product but would be alot better if it the volume was louder. There is no temperature display, songs etc so what you're getting is quite basic. Absolutely no static or interference. Picks up the smallest sounds. Lights up when sound is detected. Parent unit's batteries run out quickly. The sound is not very loud, this is where i found the lights very useful. Quite expensive.
