GREAT IRON – This is an older model but found to be very good value for money. I recently purchased a new Philips GC4909/60 which was much more expensive but does not seem to steam as well as the old iron and there's no way of seeing the water tank level. The new iron dripped all over the clothing when on a low temperature. The new iron doesn't really eliminate creases and wrinkles as well as the older one and I am going back to the GC2676/29 which I thoroughly recommend.
Purchased in at BigW South Yarra for $69.

Buyer Beware! Has a design flaw – AWFUL! This iron drips big splodges of water as you use it - water in the tank evaporates and condenses on the cover, then runs down the cover out the sprayer opening.
Purchased in at Noel Leeming Physical store for $95.

Hi there, Morgie. Thanks for reaching out to us! We are very sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties with your iron. We would like to look into this! Could you check that the temperature is high enough? If the temperature setting is set too low, this can cause the steam iron to leak water instead of the steam production. Furthermore, when you use the steam boost function too often within a short period of time, water can accumulate on the soleplate and leak. Please continue ironing in horizontal position and wait a while before you use the steam boost function.

Hi, thanks for getting in touch. I've already returned the iron to the place I purchased it from and got a full refund. As mentioned in my review, the water is dripping out of the hole in the cover where the sprayer pokes out from - not the soleplate. Also I only iron on the hottest two temperature settings, and I only use the steam boost intermittently. The problem is a design flaw - it's quite easy to clearly see the water condensating out of the tank onto the plastic cover and then when the drip gets big enough, running down the cover and out the hole onto whatever is being ironed. I used to keep an old handtowel close by and open the cover to wipe it out very 60 seconds - that was the only way top stop it. Design flaw.

Hello Mary, Thanks for sharing your review. It 's good to hear your trusty Philips Steam Iron is still up to the task. :) The issues with your newer model are a bit unfortunate though, and we would love to have a look into that for you. Putting the iron on a too low setting may cause it to leak. Please make sure to set the temperature to the steaming zone (2-dot or above) on the temperature dial. Then, let your Philips Steam Iron heat up in heel-rest position for one minute before you resume ironing.
We hope that helps, but feel free to reach out to our colleagues for more information. You can reach them directly on 1300 363 391 (Australia), or 0800 658 224 (New Zealand) from Mondays to Saturdays: 7:00 am - 7:00 pm EST. They're always happy to help!
