We have a HTL2150 and every couple of minutes the volume disappears, we have tried everything and even reset the remote to it's factory setting. Can you please help.

It is a common fault. Although I loved my Philips sound bar, I had to dump it. Cost to repair was ridiculous. Chuck it and get something else that doesn't have a fatal flaw.

The Philips HLT2150/79 Sound Bar turns on but I receive no sound. I've also tried different options like switching between audio-in, optical , aux etc. Tried unplugging it and plugging it back to no avail. Really frustrating that an expensive sound bar just does not work after a year or two. Can anyone help?

Funky Consumer

I bought 2nd hand one a couple of months ago, it would switch from hdmi to audio after 2 to 3 mins even though hdmi was only plug in, was really annoying. I upgraded firmware but not help. I tried powering on from different inputs and switching to HDMI but neither stopped it.

In the end I found there was a reset. If you google how to reset the thing you will find the key sequence you need to press on the remote to reset.

This Phillips sound bar had great sound, better than the one I have now. Unfortunately it stopped working and when I went to get an estimate (which cost $40) to fix it, they quoted more than $250. So I trashed it even though I loved the great sound it had. It's not worth fixing. I had to give up. These models had a fatal flaw that manifested itself after a few years and was too expensive to fix.

My sound bar cuts in and out all the time It is hooked up with an optical cable. I called the store and they told me that the cable that is provided with the soundbar was junk I should by a better 1. I did and it is just as bad. What's the deal with this?

Kathy
Kathy

Mine went the same way after about 18 months. I think it is a fault with the product and it should have been recalled. Mine cut out altogether. Finally I took it to a repairer for a quote that cost me $55.00 The quote after they consulted Philips was $260. I gave up and threw it out and bought another brand which I don't think is as easy to listen to but hope it lasts longer. Shame really because I loved the sound from the Philips. I won't buy another Philips as a result of this experience. If you live in a big city Philips may have an answer for you at a cost, but I live in regional Australia and the solution for people living away from a big city is not practical.

I've recently bought one of these. Main speaker and subwoofer worked fine on my previous digital TV but now I have a smart TV, the subwoofer is dead. I tired various cables and it seems happiest on an optical connection but still no sound from subwoofer. It hasn't been damaged in any way so ideas would be welcome?

philips soundbar HTL2150. It was easy to assemble and produced a good sound, but 15 months on it has stopped functioning sound crackled and cuts out a couple of minutes, or less, after being turned on. Tried connecting other than the optical cable but to no avail. Anybody else come across this problem?

Yes I encountered the same issue. Ended up replacing the unit with a different brand/model.

Yes it seems a lot of people have the same problem with very similar symptoms, crackling and then cuts out at around 15months to 2 years. I was quoted $268 by a third party repairer after spending $55 for the quote. Gave up and bought another brand.

I've had my soundbar for months. Recently it switches from Bluetooth to USB on its own after five minutes. For some reason it switches the source back to USB specifically. What can I do to fix it?

Philips Domestic Appliances

Hi Sparky, thank you for your question. We have checked this with with our product experts, and this sounds like a fault in the unit. For the HTL2150/79 we recommend you to visit the retailer, as they are able to exchange the unit for you. Do let us know if you have questions for us!

@Sparky666cx , I have faced the similar problem, the input source of my unit was switching automatically from Bluetooth to USB withing 5 minutes of the start. Customer care suggested me to reset the settings to factory default and that worked like a charm.

steps to reset ( if you haven't tried that yet)

1. start the unit

2. press the keys on remote in this order - ( volume - > Bass - > trouble - )

3. Units displays the reset message and restarts , meanwhile delete the existing pairing on your devices

4. once the unit is back up again , try re-pairing.

does the sound level run with the tv remote?

Philips Domestic Appliances
Philips Domestic Appliances   DM

Hi there. Good question. It would depend on the brand of TV but for most TV’s the Audio Out is independent from the volume control, so to adjust the volume of the soundbar you use the soundbar’s own remote control.

Hi [name removed]

I cannot understand how you cannot see my second mail that I submitted reference my sound bar, I did try the last suggestion that I turn off my sound bar at the mains this I did and it did not make any difference. Hi

You replied to my question about my sound bar that keeps switching on and off when I leaveit on standby I have tried as you suggest turning it off at the mains and left it off overnight and it is still doing the same thing, happens. Can you tell me if there is a reset button back to factory settings if there is would this solve my problems?

Philips Domestic Appliances
Philips Domestic Appliances   DM

Hi there! If the device turns off after 15 minutes of inactivity then this is a very normal behavior also known as ‘’power saving’’. This is not something anyone can switch off nor will it be removed in future updates! If the device turns off randomly then we would like to refer you to the call center to send it in for a repair.

Hope this has been useful!

I have had my Philips sound bar for a few months and had no trouble with it until we went on holiday and left it on stand by, now the sound bar switches on and of itself even whilst viewing. If I leave it on standby and go to bed it comes on and of through the night. Can you suggest a fix?

Philips Domestic Appliances
Philips Domestic Appliances   DM

Hello there, What a shame to hear you're having troubles with your Soundbar. Let's try out a few things. Have you tried to the unplug the unit from the mains power supply for a few minutes yet? Please do and then plug it back in, and reinstall the unit. This sometimes will reset the unit and will fix the problem.

How does this work out? If you're from Australia, you can reach us at the following phone number: 1300 850 633.
