Had this iron for 12 months now and I've been TRYING to love it. However, it's been a disappointment really. Yes it does iron.... but does it iron easily and well? I would say no! It spits a lot of water & doesn't have a lot of power for the price. I've only ever used pure water in it.

Purchased in at Amazon for $419.

Hello. Thank you for sharing your experience with the Philips PSG8030. For smoother ironing and to help reduce water spitting, it’s recommended to use a mix of 50% tap water and 50% distilled water. Also, adjusting the temperature and steam settings according to the fabric can help improve performance. We hope this helps you get the most out of your iron.

Thanks for the comment. I'll add tap water and see how it goes. As for the steam settings there isn't any? Only std and Max? Or is that what you mean?

A leaky messy iron – I’ve had this machine for 7 months now and I’m regretting wasting my money on it. With this steam generator iron you need to allow it to warm up, then depress the lever constantly for a minute at least to allow the water to dribble out of the holes in the iron sole plate. Only then can you use it. If I accidentally use it before waiting for the iron to decide that it’s finally finished spitting out water, it will put water all over my clothes. So it can take anywhere upwards of 5 minutes before I can start to iron my clothes. Today however was the final straw. It continually spitted and dribbled out water for over 10 minutes, eventually leaving my ironing board a watery mess and my clothes even wetter. I’m sure this technology is good when it works, but not on this brand and model.

Hi, thanks for leaving your comment. We are very sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied with your Steam Generator iron, and we'd like to see how we can help. Your iron should be able to heat up within two to three minutes, and after at least 30 seconds of steaming horizontally to prevent water leakage, you should be able to start ironing.
