Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean

Oral B oscillation electric toothbrush is scientifically proven to clean slightly better but my gum is too sensitive so it's uncomfortable to use. The Philips electric toothbrush is the next best thing and is painless, which means I will actually use it rather than let it collect dust like my Oral B one. I find both Oral B and Philips electric… Read more · 1
toothbrushes give a very clean feel after brushing. I personally can't feel the difference between Oral B and Philips.
I love the extra minute on gum care mode and this ProtectiveClean 4500 model is the least expensive model with this mode. This is my third Philips electric toothbrush and my last one was ProtectiveClean 6100 with 3 modes and 3 intensity settings. Once I'm comfortable with gum care and on high intensity, I never changed it. So I feel the essential features for me are simply pressure sensor, QuadPacer timer and gum care mode. There is no need to go for the more expensive model. If you don't need the gum care mode, I would recommend the cheaper 3100 series or something because I just found out that 62000 brush movement/min is the same as 31000 brush strokes per minute. Notice, 2 brush movement = 1 brush stroke. Also, 62000 brush movement/min is the highest speed for Philips toothbrushes, even for their DiamondClean series. The rest of remove 7x plaque vs 10x plaque all comes down to the brush head used.
Another reason why I recommend the cheaper model is I found each electric toothbrush only lasts me 2-2.5 years before the motor became loud and broke, but at least Philips is good about replacing if you register the product to get the extra year warranty. BTW if the BrushSync's brush head replacement reminder bugs you, it can be turned off. Finally, the battery life is around 2 weeks so I don't even bother carrying the charging stand when I'm going for 1 week trips.
Phillips Soniccare - DO NOT BUY – The SonicCare toothbrush is not great, it's good at cleaning teeth but quality is dubious at best. My $350 version, has lasted just over 3 years and now due to internal battery leakage (a black goop comes out of the brush area) and it has stopped charging and working. You would think the quality, given the price would match. I contacted Phillips and they said 2 years and the warranty is finished, so DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.
Philips Sonicare Review - Do Not Buy – I purchased my second Philips Sonicare, having had my first one fail unexpectedly. Despite its premium price, I've been deeply disappointed by its quality. The second unit not only activated on its own in the middle of the night but also continued to turn on randomly every few hours, which ultimately led me to dispose of it. The toothbrush head… Read more
design is another major flaw. Once removed, reattaching the toothbrush head never feels quite right; it's as if the alignment or the vibration intensity is permanently altered, significantly impacting its functionality. This issue with the toothbrush head is my biggest concern, making any potential benefits negligible. Given its high cost, the Philips Sonicare has proven to be a letdown, failing to meet the expectations of reliability and quality one would anticipate from such an investment.

A Lot to Smile About – My teeth are a work in progress. When I wore a younger man’s clothes, I dutifully presented to my dentist for mouth maintenance and the opportunity to part with wads of money as he repaired the ravages of time. Fast forward to now and the “tooth fairy” really smiled on me. An online retailer incorrectly sent me a Philips Sonicare electric… Read more · 1
toothbrush that I had not ordered. As we regularly use this company I immediately contacted them to inquire how I return the item. Graciously the supplier apologised and said I could keep the toothbrush as he valued our honesty and ongoing business.
After opening the package, I looked at the cleaning head, wondering how this very small appliance could possibly clean as well as my old school “scrubbing brush”. Eventually I weakened and after using the “new-age wonder” that not only cleaned off the plaque but the sonic action removed stubborn particles between my teeth without damage to the expensive dental work or the work in progress bits.
On my next visit to the dentist for a “dentist’s clean” he remarked that they really did not need it. Fearing a future loss of business, he set about trying to sell me a crown.
My skepticism turned to admiration for the advances being made in tooth maintenance. I can highly recommend the Philips HX6807/06 Sonicare Rechargeable Electric Dental Clean Toothbrush.
Poor product quality – Purchased first Sonicare after a family recommendation which performed well. When it eventually broke down after years replaced with the Protectiveclean from shavershop. The brush performed well though broke after roughly 6 months usage. They replaced under warranty and the replacement has an almost identical fault and is no longer working. It seems quality is a problem now. Show details

Solid, lasted 3 years – Pros: 1.did the job 2.shape of the brush head means it can reach harder to reach parts 3.good price Cons: 1.It lasted 3 years, it was tapering of in power and taking longer to charge toward the end. I wish it had lasted longer to prevent from buying another one and creating more rubbish for the environment to deal with Show details · 1
Too aggressive - wears down tooth enamel – I had to throw this product in the bin after six months of daily use as I found it to be an overly aggressive toothbrush that wore down my tooth enamel to the point of making my teeth sensitive and painful. I think sonic toothbrushes are a marketing gimmick and you don't need a product of this type, as your teeth are either clean or they are not,… Read more
and they don't need aggressive sonic methods to be cleaned thoroughly. I have never had sensitive teeth before and I have used other electric toothbrushes in the past, so I'm able to make a fair comparison. The pressure sensor feature was activated but almost never set off, so over-brushing wasn't caused by my using too much pressure. I brushed my teeth for 2 minutes after breakfast and 2 minutes before bed, so I don't think I was overdoing it. I used a quality toothpaste.
The brush has different settings where you push a button and select the setting based on the number or pitch of beeps. I found it difficult to tell the difference between one beep and the next. I think this is a poor feature and I'm sure children and the elderly would have similar problems in adjusting the settings.
Also, even though the toothbrush wore down my enamel over a period of months, it failed to clean properly between my teeth. A few times I'd finish brushing and notice that there was still food remaining between my front teeth. I've never had that happen with any other manual or electronic toothbrush.
Would definitely NOT recommend this gimmicky, damaging toothbrush.

Really liked this until it died – I was very happy with this product but just outside of one year, it has died. Its still under warranty as its two years. Philips are sending me out a replacement handle only. Hopefully it will last longer. Its quite disappointing as Ive had Oral B's that have lasted for some years. I thought i'd change brands and try Sonicare as I had heard they… Read more
clean very well. Its true. i have found it to be quite good to use but its ridiculous to have them pack up just outside of one year, considering the purchase price.
****Update***** They sent an inferior model as replacement. I requested a refund which they're still considering. This is ridiculous and taking way too long. Never again.

Philips Sonicare stops/pauses during brushing – All Sonicare brushes stop/pause during brushing. This is incredibly annoying. If you are in a hurry in the morning and need 10 more seconds of brushing to feel clean and the brush stops - it is so annoying. Objectively the delay is small but why would you design a device to annoy customers. If you insist on forcing your customers to use a… Read more
timer then beep don't pause/stop. Better still make the timer optional. Forcing customers to comply is poor logic anyhow. Fix this and you have a feature that many will choose to use and that makes you better than Oral B.

Great toothbrush – A great Electric Toothbrush that cleans better than oral b. Excellent battery life, easy to use and the less expensive brushes in Sonicare’s line. The down side is molds easily grow in the brush head, harder to clean thenoral b. Show details

Remarkably clean teeth – My teeth feel remarkably cleaner after brushing with my Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 4300. The brush handset itself is very smooth and sleek, the docking station sits nicely, and is very unobtrusive at the basin. The two different brushing intensities are really nice and I love the little vibrations that let you know if you’re pushing too hard. It’s a great toothbrush and since I’ve started using it my teeth feel cleaner longer. Show reply
