Piranha Sidewinder New Filtration System Bagless

2011-2022 good vacuum cleaner 2022 bad vacuum cleaner – I have the piranha sidewinder (neutral model FJ144-140-500) vacuum cleaner he is 11 years old from 2011 until 2022 it worked good in March 2022 it went bad. His model is not a sidewinder but a garbage dump,floor nozzle broken, the telescopic tube on top where the hose is placed broke and therefore when I put the hose it falls out,overheats like lava and stops working for a bit,the motor hums as loud as a child rages and screams,suction gone and when you suck on the crumbs and turn off the vacuum cleaner, he spits them out and again you have to collect them back. Before he was very good he sucked well and didn't make that much noise but today he's just ever and he's for 0 stars but it doesn't work so I put one star.

Bad – Took it back to Big W for refund, figured if it couldn't last 30min without something breaking I hated the chances of it lasting 12mths. Very disappointed. Last piranha had fantastic suction and lasted years but it was the old bag type. Nice colour, light, easy to manouvre, good non-twisting swivel action on hose, bagless. Poor suction.Used for approx. 30min and even cleaned filter thinking it was blocked and the reason for lack of suction, it wasn't. Motor got very hot and when I stopped the unit the back grill over the foam filter fell off and couldn't be put back on until it cooled down.

OK – It was pretty good while it lasted, especially for the price (around $80). I can't say if it died of its own accord or I killed it using the carpet cleaning product. The instruction manual does say not to clean up cement dust, and as the cleaning product dries to a powder it may have had the same effect. Conclusion: either it lost suction and over-heated of its own accord, or the "never clog the filters again" claim is just wrong. Light and powerful, bagless, very cheap price. Engine runs very hot. In the end the rear grill (which holds the exhaust filter in) started to melt, shrank, and fell out. Suction became very poor after I used in on a spray carpet stain remover. Returned to Big W for refund.
