Recently had our Danish Dougla Fir thick floor boards upgraded with sand and Lye and K2 oil finish. I chose the right company. The white tone blends in with our beach front perfectly. Potentially a great floor, but installers let it down – Had PF supply and install an expensive timber floor. After installation there were dark spots where extra glue was injected, and dark stains along joins. After many months, many phone calls, and many broken assurances, repairs were carried out. The dark spots are gone, but the dark stains along joint lines continue to reappear. As the heading suggests, it could be a great product, but installation and follow up does not match the hype.

unable to upload here. Precision Flooring refused to take responsibility even though they agreed the boards looked awful. It took 6 months and finally taking them to an arbitration court to fix up the mess they created in the first place. Our boards look ok now but the punishing process of getting these people to finally do the right thing was exhausting and the last thing we needed at the end of a 9 month renovation

Do Not Use This Company - Poor Workmanship & Poor Service – History We chose this supplier even though they were the most expensive out of the 6 quotes we received believing that the more we pay, the better the product, quality and experience. some of the boards was peeling off.

The above mentioned floor boards were replaced.

June 2016 (Not even 2 years after original floor installed) - again contacted Precision re finish peeling off boards. These boards were replaced again. At the time the boards were being replaced, the installer mentioned there was moisture under the sink cupboard that had reached under the dishwasher. Directly under the sink and dishwasher (This site won't let me post a pic, but we are talking a couple of mm of moisture at the dishwasher end of one board.)

We know why, a wet dish wand / sponge leaked on the cupboard floor under the sink so the floor of the cupboard under the sink on the dishwasher side was wet.

The Sales Manager contacted me the next week to follow up if all was ok. At which time it was ok.

But the following week, the replaced floor boards started to creak and became louder & louder, depressing & rising a few mm's below & above the other boards that were not replaced. And this is happening not at the end of the boards where the dishwasher and sink are, but at the far end. The same boards near the dishwasher and sink are not creaking or moving.

So I contacted the Sales Manager at Precision Flooring to inform him of the above to which I received the following response.

Attached is an image of one of the boards that was removed. (This site won't let me post a pic, but we are talking a couple of mm of moisture at the dishwasher end of one board.)

It may be a small leak from the dishwasher drain pipe to the waste connection as I recently had the same problem in my house.

26/7/16 I replied to Sales Managers email above.

Hi Sales Manager

Thanks for your response.

To be honest without going round and round in circles, we would appreciate you actually coming and seeing this latest issue.

All this talk about a leak is irrelevant as the issues occurring are no where near the cupboard or sink or any moisture. They are at the furthest end from the sink, etc.

There is no moisture under the sink, nor under the dishwasher, kitchen cupboards are not swollen as suggested. Not being smart, just pointing out the reality as it stands.

The first time boards were replaced, it was a section of the kitchen about 3 panels wide were replaced and it was due to the finish lifting. When the board manufacturer came out and after new boards were installed, there was no evidence that the boards were water damaged. There was no water damage to the the boards, no bloating etc. It was purely the finish in some places was lifting as it was again this last time they were replaced. This was discussed in detail the 2 times we had to get replaced.

This last time when your installer did the boards in June, there was no mention to [name removed] that there was any water or water damage affecting the floor boards. [name removed] did mention to [name removed] that the bottom panel under the sink was damp and [name removed] advised [name removed] is was due to a dishwasher wand leaking. Hardly an issue to cause damage to floor boards.

Mates who work in the kitchen & floor industry mentioned that they look like they are not sitting flush and or are squeezed in and pinching due to wrong fit and or build up under the boards from multiple lifting and replacing. Nothing to do with water etc.

If for no other reason, I think you really need to lay your eyes on the issue as opposed to guessing from the other end of an email.

And dependant on what you see when you actually do see the issue, we can then go from there.

I think that is reasonable.

Hey Tanya,

I take your observation on board but respect my professional opinion in the matter.

As per your email our installer mentioned there was evidence of a water leak and the swollen joinery unit that he showed [name removed] is evidence of that.

The same water that managed to swell the unit is the same water that traveled underneath the boards as per the picture provided.

I also do not mean to be smart but we have came to a conclusion that moisture is producing the boards to grown and hence the pop, lip and delaminate etc.

Until the cause of the problem is addressed it is pointless to replace boards again as we have now confirmed our diagnose of the issue.

This matter is both time consuming and costly for all parties involved, but now that we understand the cause of the problem there is no need for a further site visit from myself.

So disgusted in the lack of quality and service form Precision Flooring. This Sales Manager and the Precision Flooring showroom is less than 5 mins walk from our place. Surely it is not too much to ask that they at least have a look at the problem? This could all be resolved by a couple of small holes drilled and filler / glue injected to steady and firm the said boards.

They are very happy to take your $$ in the first place, but really don't give a damn about you as a customer.

More to the point, they obviously don't care about their own reputation.

21/1/17 - I emailed Sales Manager again as the boards feel like they are going to snap. Again no creaking or movement of the same boards in the area where the so called water is. BTW, there is no leak or as Sales Manager put it 'It may be a small leak from the dishwasher drain pipe to the waste connection as I recently had the same problem in my house.'

'Hi [name removed],

We had plumber come and look under the sink & dishwasher and check with moisture detector and there is no moisture anywhere. As previously mentioned and mentioned to your installer at time of last visit, we did have a wet sponge wand that leaked under the sink the day before his visit. The reason for having the floors replaced that time was due to the finish of the boards. Never have they squeaked in that area before your installer did the last replacement. The area that is squeaking is at the other end of the boards and it is only the new boards that your installer replaced that are squeaking.

Could you suggest someone / floor installer who can come and look at the problem? All it may take is a couple of holes drilled and some filler inserted.

Would really appreciate your advice.

As of 8/3/17, I am not surprised that I have not received a reply. They have washed their hands of their bad work.

We have removed the dishwasher and there is no moisture, no swelling of boards, no sign of anything. The boards are rock solid but the other end of the boards that extend into the clear area away from cupboards, walls etc are terrible.

So basically, anyone looking at getting floor boards, in my experience I would advise you stay well clear of this company.

Creaking

Most timber floors will make creaking noises from time to time. This usually happens after extreme weather changes or if a floor has not been walked on for some time. A new floor will make a creaking sound until it has “settled”. If the floor has a creaking sound in a particular area which does not go away, it may need attention.
