There are many cruise lines, DON'T cruise with Princess – I did a meditteranean cruise in Aug-Sep last year. My shipboard account ended with a refundable credit of US$24.95 due to Princess cancelling one of my shore excursions. I was told on board that the money would be credited to my bank account, it's never happened. I've rung their service centre 4 times, and am told each time that the money will be… Read more
there in 2 weeks, 1 week, etc. I know it's only a small amount, but it's the principle. I'm a platinum member and have done many cruises with Princess, but never again. I've read other online reviews, and this behaviour seems to be par for the course. I think they are a dishonest and dishonourable company. I've also send an email to the department I was told were handling the matter, but of course have received no response.
Worst experience to try organize gp booking – We are planning to do a gp trip to Mediterranean cruise from Rome for 14 days. A get together with a relative recovering from a stroke. It has been hell to organize . Left on telephone for over an hour , they don’t respond to any emails. Out of desperation we wanted to transfer booking to travel agent but they couldn’t even do that , They… Read more
cancelled our room without even informing us and placed us on a waiting list. Now we are left with situation all our friends on cruise , we don’t have a room , flights are booked and they can’t even give us a suitable solution but that we are on a waiting list. We also need to pay $200 to be on waiting list even though they cancelled before due date and without informing us. Also there are no supervisors to express our concerns. Last time ever to do Princess. Very disappointing especially we were past customers on the Princess and previously very happy.
Really good trip overall, but probably wouldn't do a Princess northern hemisphere cruise again – We had a really good trip overall (the so-called Baltic cruise from "Berlin" - not really - to St Petersburg and return), but I don’t think we would do a Princess northern hemisphere cruise again. o As expected, the staff on board were great, they worked their backsides off and were friendly and attentive o Embarkation in Warnemuende (3-1/2 hours… Read more
north of Berlin by fast train, which was fine for us because we had planned a few days in Berlin prior to the cruise anyway) was dead simple, there was no-one around, all the passengers seemed to have gone to Berlin for the day. o In fact, the main embarkation/disembarkation port turns out to have been Copenhagen, which is where most passengers seemed to join or leave the ship o In comparison with southern hemisphere cruises, this cruise seemed very expensive, and that’s not just the cost of the accommodation and the tours, e.g. whilst cocktails are reasonably priced (up to $USD10 + 19% service charge), wine is insanely expensive, e.g. we had two glasses of what we thought was fair to average quality in the wine bar and the total cost was $AUD37 !!! Ridiculous. Bottles in the restaurant started at low to mid $USD30-40 + 19% and rocketed up from there. o We did in fact buy a 10 bottle package (it wasn’t promoted, we asked about it because we had had it before) Cost was a little under $USD300 which effectively gave us a credit of $USD45 for each bottle we bought at dinner That seemed rather good, until you realise they still whack another 19% on for the service charge o The food at dinner time was overall good, even though it took 2-3 days before steak appeared on the menu They are still milking the Curtis Stone thing, but it’s now down to just one of his three “designed” dishes being offered most nights, with a meaningless written commentary by him – which seemed to be about all the connection there was between Mr Stone and the dish The don’t seem to realise that his image in Australia is mostly in terms of flogging a supermarket brand o We enquired on the very first day as to the availability of a Chef’s Table dinner (like the super excellent one we did on the 4-day P&O cruise last year - yes, P&O, and that dinner was outstanding at $AUD119 per person for 7 courses and 7 wines), but it took Princess 7 or 8 days to confirm it, and then it was a “wine” dinner, with just two wines being served, and the courses being served at breakneck speed – hardly relaxing, but at least the price was reasonable ($USD45 each from memory) But even then they cut corners, with the red being 2016 when it was listed on the menu as being 2014 Admittedly, the steak dish served was the very best I have ever eaten, ever o Some of the ports were waaaaaay out of town (so Carnival could save money?) and (for example) to charge $USD75 each for a shuttle bus to get us into Stockholm and back was a bit steep (and even then there was no commentary along the way, it was just a bus transfer into town and back) o But the main issue was the change of disembarkation port to the industrial port of Rostock instead of Warnemuende (again, we can’t but help think that this was done to save money for Carnival) – we enquired very early on about what arrangements there would be for people like us to get into Rostock town (and, in our case, the main railway station), because there were going to be no taxis, nor any form of public transport available. The sole focus seemed to be on getting disembarking passengers to Berlin-TGL airport, via ‘official’ Princess transfers o Over a succession of days we had answers from the front desk as follows: We don’t know It looks like there might be a shuttle bus service It looks like there will be a shuttle bus service, but no capability of taking your luggage There will definitely be a shuttle bus service There will definitely be a shuttle bus service and it will take your luggage It will only go into the centre of town (one of the hotels) and you will have to make your own way to the station from there o As it turned out, it was only when I asked the driver if he was going anywhere near the station, and if so could he drop us off there, and he replied “Of course I am going to the station.” This is just not good enough from Princess “Come back new” ? More like “Come back stressed”.
Not Value for Money – Booked a Princess Cruise on the Regal Princess for sailing late August / early September 2017 to Scandinavia and Russia. Besides the deck we booked which was good, the quality of nightly entertainment was poor, the quality and variety of nightly food was not that great. The lunchtime hotdogs and burgers were good however. Although there were a… Read more
number of optional tours on offer, the communication processes on doing your thing we found to be sub-standard, especially going to Berlin which were discovered is at least a 4 hour train journey with poor railway station customer service. The tour perple led us to believe that it was no more than a 2 hour journey. As it turned out, we were lucky to board our ship in time for departure to our next port.
