ProQ Frontier

Excellent Smoker! – This is my first smoker so I didnt really know what to expect. The quality of the ProQ is pretty good, the metal is a decent thickness and it feels solid when put together. This model is missing a few features such as insulated latches, but thats what you pay more for on the Elite model. All the cooks Ive done have turned out great. It holds temp well, I found I had to play around with fuel to get hotter temps than 120C with the water pan used.

Only average – I brought this BBQ to start learning how to BBQ and Smoke foods. This unit is pretty flimsy and does not hold heat very well. Also the smoke finds its way out easily as the unit is not sealed very well at all. There are 3 sets of clips to hold the various 'levels' together. These clips are not very sturdy and feel 'weak'. The water smoker results are pretty poor as it's not easy to maintain a consistent heat. You need to constantly be adding fuel, checking the heat and making sure all is running to the recipe. This is not easy when you are smoking over a 12-24 hour period. When all the 'levels' are removed and the kettle bbq option is used, the results are very good. My advise would be to spend more and get a better quality product.
