We’re on acreage. Seen many dead animals and I think toads are responsible for some or most of the deaths we see. Considering the toad is toxic its whole life! I used to do the freezer thing but that’s a mission . Hopstop is my go to now. Fast, effective. And I think the smell might keep animals away from its remains. Show details

Follow-up  · I give them one good squirt. The big ones need 2 as they may not die.

I doubt this product is "Humane" – I purchased a can of this for about $20, previous cane toad control methods on my acreage property were to collect, bag, chill then freeze and dispose. It is a process that requires room in fridges & freezers and do you really want that anywhere near your food? So I gave HopStop a chance. Honestly, my daughter and I were concerned by the "humane"… Read more

label on this spray. The toad seems to writhe around on the ground for 30-60 seconds. The spray kills your lawn and the fumes are unbearable. We sprayed & observed 3-4 toads, but resorted to collecting them and placing them in a sealable storage tub so we could bulk spray them. The can says it is enough spray for 35 "average sized toads". We collected 70 small 3-4cm toads and a maybe 8-10 larger toads last night and only really used 1/2 a can by keeping them in a container and bulk spraying. But yeh, I don't think this is as "humane" as they're suggesting. The toads appear to actively try to wipe it off. I don't think I will buy another Hop Stop, I prefer to chill then freeze, it certainly seems more peaceful for the toad.

HOPSTOP Cane Toad Control Aerosol Spray 300g REALLY WORKS! Fumes are overpowering, but hey, IT WORKS! – This is the very best Cain Toad killer there is, REALLY! Sure, as soon as you spray this concoction at the toad it does a mad dash and one must chase it around the garden for a few minutes to spray it again, but hey, IT WORKS! A word of warning though, the stuff WREAKS to high heaven and back, even my pooch thought the fumes were overpowering (see… Read more

pic below), but that's the price you pay to rid your humble abode from dreaded cane toads.

Directions: USE GLOVES WHEN USING THIS PRODUCT! AVOID BREATHING IN FUMES! (It stinks). For toads 10cm long and more spray on toad for 2-3 seconds. You will have to chase them! Contents of can will kill about 30 toads IF YOU CAN CATCH THEM AFTER FIRST SPRAY. Toads that continue to move after two minutes or so, should be sprayed again. It takes about an hour after before they die, NO WOODEN STAKE REQUIRED.

Apart from the LINGERING FUMES, I highly recommend this product! Available from Bunnings for just under $20.00.
