Real Estate Institute Victoria

dishonesty needs consequences – A level of professional conduct is expected in every profession and it is necessary to monitor the real estate industry for improper conduct. A review of conduct should start with Tony Tapatio of YPA Rye who bullies and makes false allegations to secure a sale! Sell at any cost is the motto , no care or respect - and a complete lack of honesty.
Don't bother to call – as they won't listen anyway. The person who answered the phone wouldn't even let me speak long enough to finish my first sentence. Extremely rude and arrogant. This call has confirmed my long held opinion of 99% of real estate agents in the general market. They do whatever they want because they know they can get away with it!
Great course and very useful information – I have just completed my SOA course, I think REIV is one of the strongest and most professional Institute in VIC., although the course was online, wished it was live, my Assessor was very helpful, Thanks Mr. Rob. they are all very knowledgable in the field. I am very grateful to do this course and wish to continue to get the full license in the same organization.
If I could give a '0' score I would – This course has been a biggest waste of time. No assistance from so called Education Department. If just a SCAM to take money. I wish I read other reviews before I gave them my money.
Terrible course not useful for acquiring the Agents Rep for Vic – Terribly inaccurate terminology used. I completed an Agents Rep Certificate 20 years, worked a number of years in RE & the swapped industries, so had to renew Cert. This course is poorly written, doesn’t mention legislation correctly and makes no sense, then the assessment is so unnecessarily long. Don’t waste your money, it stings like a scam.
A waste of money – This course is the biggest waste of money. The course has minimal information and to answer the questions they ask you need to basically Google the information yourself. I don't even know what the fees go towards as this course id no helpp at all. I would give it 0 stars if I could
Certificate IV in Real Estate waste of Money! – Real Estate Institute of Victoria - ( REIV) Spent $7207.00 For this terrible course not worth a penny! I undertook the REIV course for Certificate IV and went to REIV 2 days per week from 6.00 pm to 9.30 pm. The REIV course is subsidized by the tax payers for some students. Hence REIV is making full use of the system as funding is offered and… Read more
the course was read off a book - Easy Money!! I paid the REIV over $2300 out of pocket fees which is such a unwanted waste of funds and I don’t believe I got my money’s worth; just a scam!!
Not only did the government pay a further $4907.00. I truly don’t believe I should have paid $2300 ( out of pocket fees) as this course was conducted by - the trainers reading off the book page after page. There was NIL value in this course and the most important matters were not covered. The REIV agents complaint line is not favorable to landlords at all and to the public as the REIV is there to back the fee paying members ( Estate Agents) , NOT the complainants/ landlords. When you call (CAV) to complain; we are told to call the REIV. (CAV) and ( REIV) are in this together.
REIV abuses and take advantage in this easy money not monitored at all by the State Government. This is very negligent as there is no body corporate looking after or auditing such poorly run courses. If another RTO did this; I believe they will be closed off by now!
When I formally complained to REIV I was fobbed off and dismissed. REIV has benefited and monopolized the system for years and gone without notice; due to the inside connections and links. Further the licence I am talking about is; the estate agents full licence approved by the (BLA) Business Licensing Authority; and should be offered to students after working 1 year full time within a real estate agency. The( BLA) does not check the student have worked full time for 1 years, (no pay slips checked) as the licence is offered once the false paperwork is submitted to the ( BLA). If you have some contacts within the industry; a false license can be gained. WHAT A JOKE !!
Further if a student has submitted assignments and if challenged, the trainers will offer a pass mark to other students, even if the student who complained had to same or similar answers, the trainer will mark the student who challenged the trainers – “ Incompetent”, and return back the assignments .
If the REIV trainers were properly qualified , trained then why will you read off the book page at a time for 3 hours? as there is no interactive learning, no group work, nil research, the trainers simply read off the books. If an outside independent company runs a genuine survey about the REIV course; then this matters would have come up long ago.
REIV asked for feedback in the back of the assessments and most students did not fill it, or filled it falsely so they will not be targeted and bulled by the trainers…. My complaint to REIV was: 1. Failed to deliver adequate training and assessment 2. Failed to return assessments in a timely manner 3. Failed to keep accurate records of your attendance, participation and progress. 4. Trainers did not have the required vocational competencies, did not provide adequate work experience opportunities. 5. Trainers, bullied students who were assertive and spoke up deliberately sabotaging and delaying your assessments making you wait a further two hours to do your presentation in class after you requested to do your presentation sooner because you were feeling unwell. 6. Has given students a full license despite the work experience criteria not being met.
REIV cannot keep running courses in this manner and dismissing a valid complaint and running such second-rated poor quality course to monopolize, dominate the system and be unnoticed for so long. This is a type of unprofessional place to do a course, nil value and waste funds!!
REIV Property Data online – I have been using the REIV property data online system as a real estate agent for two years. The site is supposed to provide upto date and meaningful property data information.. My experience is that the information available is minimal and not as helpful as other sites offer in the real estate industry. RP Data certainly offers a better product and much more meaningful information for both real estate agents and the general public.
