Terrible – I reviewed this product in January as the best product for waitloss and mentioned that I had no side effects. Well, since then I have not lost any weight at all and my blood pressure has been way too high. I have also suffered depression. I have researched this product more and realised that if you have suffered depression before or are prone to… Read more

depression that you shouldn't take this product as it can trigger depression. I have also found that this product has been taken off the market in the UK due to non fatal heart attacks and strokes and also the death of a other than reductil, healthy young woman! There are also consumer groups in the US trying to get it taken off the market there for the same reasons.

I have been craving sugary foods and apart from being able to eat smaller portions, I am still eating all the wrong foods. The product seemed to work for the first few weeks for me and has all just gone downhill since then.

I stopped taking the product 3 days ago and suffered an horendous migraine the first day of not taking the drug, and have been headachy and nauseous.

I would definitely rethink taking this product at all especially if you have suffered depression in the past. This product should be taken off the market in Australia also! NONE! This product should be removed from the market! High blood pressure, Depression, NO WEIGHT LOSS, craving sugary foods, not to mention the cost!

Excellent while taking it, but once stopped will gain it back – I lost 32kg with Tony ferguson shakes alone, but got the side effect of vertigo to this day, was it worth it......YES! REDUCTIL shifted a further 8kg, that Tony furguson shakes and exercise couldn't, then the ban on reductil came, I hadn't had time to maintain the 8 kg loss, so I ended up putting the 8kg back on. Diet and 14hrs....yes 14, a week… Read more ·  2

in exercise havnt shifted a kilo Reductil did. Please bring it back..... Only for those of us not over 50yo, not needing it for long periods of time, without cardiovascular problems, and without the already dangerous problem of being obese already. Obese people are going to die of a heart attack unless they do something anyway, so basing the drug on a cardiovascular study, on an enlarged heart, already straining to beat, is just plain moronic, unless the ban is only for those cases studied.....50yo+, obese etc. Worked! Expensive, unless you would pay money for happiness, then it's cheap in comparison to other supplements that don't work.

Excellent – I was on Reductil over 6 months for 2 months after my weight ballooned after chemotherapy from 48 kilos to 69kgs (ouch!) - my normal weight before chemo was generally anywhere around 54-56kgs. During the 2 months I dropped just over 7kgs and was very happy but decided to give it a go without them any buying myself a cross trainer for home as I… Read more

hate gyms (love walking but find it a bit boring on my own!). After 4 months off my weight has shot back up to 72kgs which I have never been in my life - so it seems that 40mins a day dedicated exercise on my cross trainer has not done the trick although as my doctor has pointed out I am very toned! I have been told that it can take up to a year for weight to settle back to normal after chemo but just want it back to normal ASAP - I don't as a rule eat a lot of sweet things and try to limit anything bad that I do eat to a minimum (ie - coca cola, potato chips and chokkie etc). My ago also probably has something to do with it as I am 47 and just starting to hit menopause methinks (and so does doctor!) but no excuse for it! I am looking forward to the loss of weight experienced before and have been lucky enough for my doctor to give me a 3 month prescription as she knows me well and has been through a bit with me over time! Recommend to any one who is reponsible and is having difficulty losing those extra kilos Weight loss and attraction to food (especially sweet things) drops off almost automatically. One tablet a day to take in the morning which unlike a lot of other diet tabs out there is relatively small and easy to swallow. For me none ... I have private health insurance so am able to claim back more than half my prescription price on it. No side effects so all good.

Reductil is the best weight loss pill for me – Hi! Reductil is really the best pill against obesity I have ever tried in my life. I ordered it online ([link removed]) as it was already taken from the market in our country and it turned to be very effective. I managed to lose about 12 kg in 4 months - a result that is more than satisfying for me ;)  Show reply

Don't trust me listent to my wife's comments – Having battled with weight yoyoing over most of my life, my GP prescribed Reductil. Facts are; BMI >30, Type II diabetes elevated but BP 120/80. After 3 months BMI 26 and BP still 120/80. After several months the most important impact was that I could stop being a hypocrite when advising my patients to loose weight to improve their health issues.… Read more

It's a miracle for me! – I am 32 and have been on it last 2 mo. I have to date lost 12 kg (30 lbs). I have not experienced any major side effects. I LOST WEIGHT, HALF MY HAIR AND 30% OF MY LUNG FUNCTION! – After a successful period of weight loss which also resulted in considerable hair loss, I stopped taking Reductil because I had a Pulmonary Embolism. of being taught to breathe by my swimming coach kicked in and saved my life when I had my PE. I have some irreversible heart damage but it's minor, and after more than 5 years off Reductil my lung function has recovered and my risk status has returned to low.

A friend, 39, had a stroke but survived with some disability. She has not been able to work since, but was a champion rower and knew how to breathe too. Another friend did NOT survive - she was a smoker. 30% of all PE patients die!

Naturally, I regained all the 20 kg I had lost. However I have now found the Dukan Diet, which requires No medication, is quicker than Reductil and healthier. My advice on Reductil would be to leave it alone! Fairly effective in reducing appetite. Caused me to have a Pulmonary Embolism, which has a 30% fatality rate.

Terrible – Initially this product caused me migraine like headaches and on the fourth day of taking it caused my body to go into anaphylaxis. This resulted in me going to hospital overnight and a very near death experience. I advise serious caution when using this drug. Just do it the hard way, eat salad and go for a run. Headache, diziness and ultimatley Anaphylactic shock.

Terrible – its supposed to suppress your appetite, but it did nothing for me. my doctor wanted me to try it because it isn't as bad for you as duromine, but for me it didn't make any difference. the best advice i suppose is to try it yourself, and see if it helps, it's better for you than duromine! expensive

OK – Three months ago I weighed 83kg (183 pounds). I took Reductil 10mg for 1 month as a kick start for weight loss and getting on track. Side effects in the first few days included - dry mouth, feeling more upbeat than usual, increased energy, extreme appetite withdrawal, difficulty sleeping and lack of desire to sleep at all, loss of cravings for… Read more

food and basically no desire for food at all, a feeling of fullness after eating a much smaller portion, and a more active digestive system - not diarreah, but needing to go to the toilet almost immediately after eating.

After the first week, most of these side effects subsided, but for the remainder of the month on this medication I continued having trouble sleeping, could stay up until all hours of the night. Normally I am a heavy sleeper, but on Reductil the tiniest noise would wake me up and then it was nearly impossible to get back to sleep again. I had feelings of depression and just basically feeling flat. I got my period in the second week and it lasted for two weeks and I don't normally have my period at all as I have used depo provera for the past 6 years. Desire for food continued to remain minimal, and cravings hardly existent anymore. Bowel movement returned to normal. Two days throughout the month I forgot to take the medication and felt exactly the same as if I had taken it e.g. - reduced appetite, sleep problems etc.

One more thing to add - alcohol does not mix well with this medication (as is only logical). I stupidly drank a few vodkas in the first week of taking Reductil and did not have feelings that alcohol generally provide e.g. - slurred speech, acting silly, delayed response, tiredness etc. Instead I felt more alert and unaffected and as if I could drink forever. Later that evening I experienced hallucinations and thought I was going crazy. And strangely, the next day I had no hang over what-so-ever.

I lost 6kg (about 13 pound)in one month on Reductil.

About one week after no longer taking Reductil I began to feel normal again e.g. feeling depressed and flat and sleeping disturbances subsided. Appetite and cravings still remained under control though, as I guess I had become accustomed to controlled portions and making better choices about food after the first month.

That was three months ago. To date I have lost 25kg (55 pound).

I am now at my ideal weight. Reductil gave me a kick start, helped me to get into the habit of better eating habits and allowed for some quick results that provided me with the motivation to continue on my own. Personally I do not think the side effects were worth while, however, if I had not done the month course of Reductil I am not sure how I would have gained the will power and motivation to stay focused on my own.

The additional two months of weight loss however, was acheived on my own through exercise - walking and exercise bike, about 5 or 6 days a week for at least 20 minutes, calorie counting (staying between 1200 - 1500 calories per day), choosing better foods (such as tomato based pasta sauce over a cream based one, or rice crackers over bread, or fruit salad over ice cream) and portion control (I still ate my favourite pizza and chocolate cake, but I just ate half as much and then ate healthier foods for the remainder of the week.

I have tried Lite N Easy and Jenny Craig in the past. They both worked too, however they didn't teach you how to change your eating habits and once I stopped the program I gradually put the weight back on again.

Face facts, there is no miracle cure. Reductil may assist some people but it is not a magic cure. There is no magic cure. The only way (apart from surgery) to successfully lose weight and keep it off is to change your eating habits, not just for today or the week or the month, but for the rest of your life. Eat better, eat in moderation, eat smaller portions and get out there and get motivated however you can, that doesn't mean you have to join a gym or by an abswing, it can be a simple as taking the dog for a walk, walking to the corner shop instead of taking the car, going for a swim, doing some gardening, even a bit of house cleaning. All movement is exercise. If you try to get a little bit active each day and eat half what's on your plate and stay away from grease and sweets at least 70% of the time you will definitely get results.

There is no miracle pill. There is no quick fix. Exercise and a controlled, sensible diet are the keys. Gave me a kick start to better eating by taking away cravings and appetite Side effects and cost
