The Front Brake rotors keep warping causing shuddering when braking. The rotors have been replaced 3 times under warranty, but I get max 15000km before it happens again. Renault don't have a solution and every time the car is has to be taken and left at the dealership twice to repair. No-one at Renault Australia Customer Service seems to care. I also had the main A/C controller fail at low KM. Very Disappointed. First and Last Renault I will buy. Show details
Under rated – I was talked into a test drive in a new Intens and couldn`t believe the quality, luxury and drive-suspension. It swayed me to wanting one which I bought End Sept 2021, trading in a 2020 Honda CRV top of the range AWD. I must say that being based mechanically on the Nissan XTrail was a big plus for satisfying my concerns on reliability and power.… Read more · 2
I drive in ECO mode and have no trouble getting onto freeways - adequate power - and suburbs/freeway driving is giving me 7.3l/100kms. Only fault is that the tyre pressure indication stopped working yesterday(tyres are fine). Also being a 5 seater is what I want in an SUV ( I am retired.), so the Intens is a plus for me. Interestingly, a year ago when I bought the Honda CRV after testing Subaru, Mazda, Toyota and Nissan, I hadn`t given Renault a thought. Lucked out getting the updated 2021 Koleos and got a good deal too. A point about Renault - ,they don`t seem to do much of a sales job in Australia. I hope they don`t do a runner again!
Great SUV with many standard features – Purchased the vehicle in January 2018 and have had no problems at all. Love the standard features which are options on many of the rivals such as heated and ventilated front seats. The Diesel engine is economical and smooth. Rlink system can be frustrating to use and I’ve had trouble updating the navigation software as my model didn’t come with Apple CarPlay as standard. Show details
Endless Issues – Was so excited when we purchased this car. Beautiful and full of features. Unfortunately after 19 returns for warranty and over 7 months off the road we fell out of love and found ourselves in a world of hurt trying to get compensation from Renault. Literally writing this review whilst on the phone doing mediation with our dealership trying to get a result. Show details
The hidden Gem in the SUV market – I am not one of those guys that walks into a dealership not knowing anything about the vehicle i am about to test drive, normally there is a lot of online research, looking at recalls, issues and professional road tests. From my research i then make a short list and share this with my wife and i get her opinion, otherwise i would have a Jaguar or… Read more
Aston in my dreams... Then we both test drive the short list and then discuss. We have found that not always a higher KW rating transforms into better and more enjoyable drive. In our short list my first choice mentally was so disappointing to test drive even though it ticked all the boxes, i left deflated. We test drove both the Koleos petrol and Diesel Intens 4wd versions and we found the petrol with the CVT (constantly variable transmission) a poor match, the car seemed to constantly be looking for the right ratio and this equated to poor off the mark acceleration or as my dad would have said the car "dithered". The diesel version with its excellent torque it just went and to put this into prospective it is quicker off the mark than the Megane GT line 1.2 which is no slouch. Lets get rid of the skeleton in the cupboard CVT (constantly variable transmission) the transmission, these used to be called the rubber band transmissions and Nissan and Subaru both has issues and recalls from there early versions 2010-2016. The CVT fitted to the Koleos is the same as the Nissan XTRONIC CVT which has been fitted X trail for a few years with no reported major issues that i could find, in fact the unit is suitable up to 3.5 litre engines, so well within its current application. The Koleos does share the engine and power train set up with the current Nissan X-trail range. The Koleos uses the same R-Link 2 system as in the Megane and has a nice fluent feel and far better than the unit i had fitted to my 2017 Megane and now with Android Auto and Apples version, but keep in mind if you wish the traffic updates to be live you will need to purchase the option pack at $300 for 3 years and its well worth it. The Sat Nav is easy to use and i love to use the point of interest when searching. Seat are conformable and supportive for those who like to push the boundaries of the car, the car has very little body roll. The Koleos when pushed hard braking is great and the Diesel feels sporty without the noise , bit of over steer in sharp corners when pushed HARD, but easy to correct. The car is very economical on long distances and will do over 700 KMS to the full tank. Air-Conditioning is excellent also love the chilled seats (front only) and chilled drink holder on a hot day. Plenty of room in the rear for luggage and the one touch seat folding for the rear is so easy. The bose sound with 11 speakers only get better the louder you push it, also we use a 128gb USB to store all our favourite music, which works a treat. Things i don't like or would change i not not a huge list, auto fold mirrors when locking rather than having to push a button. I am not a huge fan of auto stop and start i always deactivate it, wish there was an off function in the R-Link menu . I think the ride high is a little low for major off roads adventures but with caution doable and i think the car would have greater presence with 35-50 high increase.
The Koleas has a lot of greats, its stylish on the outside and some great functions and cleaver styling on the inside, fun to drive and functional. You really have to look hard to find faults, buts it more down to a personal taste and what suits your needs, don't be fooled by the reported power (kws and torque) as it feel more powerful then unnamed vehicle at 155kw.
Update March 2020:- Had the car now for 4 months did my first trip away, filled the car up and drove 486kms with the cruse control set to 110 kms on ECO mode arrived home with over 1/2 a tank indicating 456km available in the tank. Drove some dirt road with corrugations, car handles great and not overly noisy in the cab.
Great Vehicle EXCEPT our dealer promised update to Apple /Android Auto on purchase, still waiting!! – Could not be happier with my 2017 Intens. Purchased in September 2017 However, at time of purchase, we were told by the salesman at Metro Renault that Apple Play & Android Auto software feature (which we don't have) was to be updated as soon as Renault released it. After numerous phone calls requesting the update, we've been told that there… Read more
isn't an update for our model.
** Very disappointed with Metro Renault making promises at the time of purchase and not keeping their word**
We'll soon make another phone call to check on the availability of an update to equip our Renault koleos with Apple Play/Android Auto and if we get the same answer, we'll be referring this matter to Renault regarding Metro Renault unkept promise.
Metro Renault can contact us if they wish. They've got details of the sale and phone calls on their books.
Otherwise GREAT Vehicle and very happy after nearly a year and a half.

Itens, still the best!!! – Looked for so long for new or used car that fitted what I needed and wanted. I live with some special physical needs due to illness and really was after something long term, but it also had to be multi purpose [tow, on road, off road, animals, adults, kids, long distance, shopping etc..] I mean it was a long list & I was prepared to spend to get… Read more
it. Also I wanted all the nice little luxury bits & pieces you'd expect from top range cars. Months went by [I am really fussy] no luck, one reason or another nope, even top of the scale cars Mercs, Audi, BMW, and I looovvvee these cars but always something. And then I walked past the Renault showroom, just looking at the new stuff, wandered inside & there stood the new Intens. I kid you not it was love at first sight, it had everything including semi-auto park & mood lighting, 4wd, 7 speed, you name it & sexy looks. Big question, ease of access, comfort long term & ride?? Test drive, that was it, no more questions. This thing was so new they didn't have a price yet and the dealer was still reading the manual. When I found out how much she was, I bought the one I tested right off the floor. Just added a tow pack, that was it!!!! Nothing stacked up against it, still doesn't. She's been put through everything I could throw at her at has never missed a beat, even covered in mud dust & bird poo she still has people commenting on how lovely she is & when they look inside, well wow!!! and when I get in I still love how she says hello. This a real owner review, this is a real car & a daily drive & we live in the country, so she has been truly tested, even 9 straight hours of highway. No rattles, no trim problems, nothing. Give her a clean & she still looks showroom. Ok I'll go now.....
Great value for money – Needed to change to a family car and have been comparing Koleos with Mazda CX5. After doing test drive for both cars, I found that their performance are very close to each other. I like that you can hardly notice gearbox changing with Koleos. Although some people have complained about engine noise, I still find it fairly quiet. With our budget,… Read more
we were able to get the Koleos top model with sunroof, tinted windows, leather seats, automatic tailgate and Bose sound system etc. However, if we were going for CX5, we can only get the basic model which is without all of the above.
The other things that Koleos ticked our boxes are the look and its legroom. We have received so many compliments and no one would believe this car is such good value.
Absolutely enjoying all that this car has to offer!
Love the koleos intens – Great car . love the driving experience . Engine and cvt transmission suits us as a older couple. Technology a bit daunting downloaded R Link manual getting used to slowly. Auto tailgate doesn't work with towbar . Dealer said they can fix this . Overall 5 stars. 5 year warranty and roadside assist. Show details · 1
New Koleos - too many issues ruin a great car – Owned 2 previous Koleos, so excited when the new model arrived. Whats good - loads of tech, more legroom, smooth ride, awesome BOSE sound system. What's bad - engine is too under-powered for the size. The cruise control can't hold the speed without the revs screaming on a hill. The bonnet design is poor. The wind gets under it on the… Read more
freeway and it bounces around looking like it will fly off. I have had people pull up next to me on the freeway gesturing that my bonnet catch is not done up. Some of the tech is complex to use and dangerous to navigate through while driving. The phone interface is poor. Given up on it recognising my commands - never a problem on the previous model. Had the Renault dealer fit a Renault towbar - which wiped out the foot controlled boot release and shows an annoying rear parking sensor fault whenever I tow anything. The boot raising (and closing) mechanism works about 70% of the time. The proximity key is so sensitive, if you have it on you you can't walk around the car to the other side without it locking the car again. The speed camera detector which tells you to reduce speed often doesn't stop telling you to slow down - even when stopped at a red light. Loved the chilled glove box on the old model - which they got rid of. Now you have a vent with cold air in the drink holder. Except the lever to open and close the vent operates vertically so as you slide a can or bottle of drink in the holder, it closes the vent.... On narrower country roads, the auto dimming high beam detects its own light and dims the lights.
Could be a great car ... but sadly isn't. Rang Renault H/O in Australia on two occasions about issues and never got a return call. If they don't or won't listen to their customers, they wont be able to improve their vehicles.
