This review has been seven years in the making. After a QCAT win against this business for ripping off my elderly parents we thought justice had finally prevailed! What a joke. As you can see from other reviews a QCAT judgement is useless unless you have it enforced in the Magistrate court and what a mission is that! When someone only leaves a PO… Read more
Box with ASIC you can’t serve enforcement and when someone moves around as much as these guys do it’s a lot of hard work and EXPENSE!! Finally we succeed and get our court date for next month only to be told by the Magistrate that they have filed for bankruptcy. How does a business from a small community manage to get away with this for so long? They are expert con artists. Their work is shoddy, if anyone got a good result it has to have been a fluke! We were nearly a whole year with out a kitchen bench top as the attempt to resurface it was done twice and the bench was so badly destroyed that Mat and Erin offered to replace the bench top which they never did, we had to replace it ourselves. Every week there was a story as to why it wasn’t finished. I could write a comedy with the list. Every member of the family must have broken a bone or got sick. Every type of weather was not ideal for the application. Every product must have gone off!!. As we lived in Brisbane and the unit was being renovated he had free access to the place and would tell us he had been there working when he hadn’t. I don’t not what else to say really! They are now trading again with their new business doing the same thing! Pro ReFinishing. Please be warned!
WORSE CONTRACTOR EVER - WILL RIP YOU OFF – WORST CONTRACTOR EVER - WILL RIP YOU OFF Pro Refinishings is the new name created to disguise who they really are. This company was previously known as Resurface It Advanced Resurfacing Solutions. start with you paying a deposit, he will come out initially and then you will get every excuse under the sun as to why he is not re-attending to complete the job i.e. my kids are sick, I am sick, have to take a holiday, the paint is gluggy, I have to order to paint from Melbourne, the list goes on and on. Please read the reviews before you engage this company - they should get the award for Con Artist of the Decade. Please read the review under Magoo - it details everything and coincides with the other negative reviews.

WARNING, WARNING, WARNING, WARNING – UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ENGAGE THIS BUSINESS – I too did not do a thorough enough review – only looked at the reviews on his website page. A friend of mine advised me about this review page – which I too wished I had read before engaging the services of Resurface It Resurfacing Solutions. Same pattern occurred here – initial payment and then the excuses commenced – my employee walked out on… Read more
me, I can’t work in this humidity (Sunshine Coast area) I need to take my wife to Yeppoon for overdue holiday, we got back late from Yeppoon, paint is gluggy – have to order special paint from Melbourne, my kid is sick, I am sick and the list goes on and on into oblivion. [Name Removed] also would arrive – find an excuse to go get something soon after arriving, complain about the cost of whatever he had to get. He is well qualified in giving the salesman’s talk to the point where you just don’t want to hear anymore. He even tried to tell me that my fibreglass pool was a concrete one as he should know he managed a pool shop previously – that sounded alarm bells for me as well. Then breached his contract with me by asking for a secondary progress payment when the contract clearly states that an initial payment is made, then a 30% progress payment and then the remaining 60% to be paid upon completion. When I double checked I had been charged 20% initial deposit and had already paid a 30% progress payment, leaving a 50% completion payment. When this was pointed out to [Name Removed] – he said that I was wrong and he didn’t want to argue about it. Advised him to read his contract – it was all there. At the time of engaging [Name Removed] to resurface the kitchen and two bathroom vanities – I asked if he could change the shower screens. He said that he could and advised that I would need to pay him $1550 directly as he had purchased the shower screens on my behalf – payment wade made. Well after some 3 months – I did not see the shower screens at all. When asked to bring them with him upon his next visit he always had an excuse. I read another review on Google where he had done the same thing to another lady and she never received her shower screens or a refund even though she states he said he would provide her with a credit. I finally had enough of his constant excuses and pushbacks (about 20 in total) and advised him that I was ending his services and did not want him back at my house – even though he had not finished. It took him 8 weeks to return my kitchen doors and when they were finally refitted I started to notice how poor the paint work was and he hadn’t even painted the backs or the door trims. He said that he would be doing that once he hung the doors ?? During the 8 weeks that he had my kitchen doors – I eventually asked for a photo of them to see how they looked. To my amazement he sent me two photos of kitchen doors that were not my doors – at first I did not notice and then I realised that the doors were slightly different but still not my doors. During all of these constant and continual delays I kept reminding [Name Removed] that I was without a cooktop and oven for some 4 months as I had the old oven removed with a new one waiting to be installed upon completion of the resurfacing and the cooktop couldn’t be used as it was on the same electrical connection as the oven. That appeared to fall on deaf ears with no regard whatsoever. He kept asking me for the final payment of $3,000 after I told him not to come back and I advised him to show me the invoice from the shower company that he purchased the shower screens from – never did receive that invoice from the shower company. As a result, I never completed the final payment as it appears to be clearly evident to me that the shower screens never existed otherwise he would have sent me the invoice. I asked another resurfacing company to inspect my kitchen who were lost for words in regards to the lack of quality of the paintwork and I showed them where all the paint was peeling from the kitchen benchtops and from the kitchen doors. As per the photos attached you can see how easily the paint has peeled off and there was no sanding evident even though [Name Removed] kept telling me how much he had sanded the kitchen doors. The Peeling present in the photos of the kitchen bench are a result of Mat removing the protective plastic sheeting after spraying the kitchen backsplash tiles. Not what you would expect to happen after the bench had been sprayed some 4 weeks prior. If there were minus stars for this review – I would give the full quota of them. Please note that I have successfully lodged a complaint with QBCC and action was taken against this business and a fine has been issued accordingly by QBCC. It wasn’t hard to find out where [Name Removed] lived as he slipped up one day and basically told me where he lived.
Bath resurfacing did not last – The product to resurface my bath began to lift off after 2 years and within the warranty period. After 6 months of excuses and no response to myself and my property managers I am still waiting for the bath to be repaired (or most likely completely redone for around $700). My recommendation is that you try another business. After many excuses and… Read more
promises to redo the job, and many unanswered phone calls I made I gave up. I paid someone else $700 to do the repair and resurfacing of the bath.
If there was a gold medal for con man, this guy would win every time. My mistake for not reading the reviews – The 8th of January, Mat finished resurfacing my kitchen. There was some finishing he promised to do when he'd come back from one week holiday. However he insisted on being paid immediately and in cash. Which I did as from the outside the job looked ok. Two days later, when I started opening the cabinets doors (some where stuck from the paint) I… Read more
noticed that he "forgot to mask the inside of the cabinets resulting painting inside including on crockery and pots and pans. Also started noting bubbles appearing on five doors and cracks on bench top. I called him two weeks later after not hearing from him as promised. He had excuse for not being able to come over for two more weeks. He eventually turned up, said he would take the faulty doors to respray at his place and fix the other problems when he would return the doors. We are now almost April and still no sign of the man and my kitchen doors. At least 2-3 times per week he would promise to come over and wouldn't turn up always finding some excuses. I'm going to try "a current affair " and report him to fair trading.
First disappointing experience; Don’t risk your money! – It’s my fault that I didn’t do a background review/search of this company in the first place! The company (Resurfaceit) is more interested in getting the initial payment first before starting the job. Once they got the payment, no contact from them for weeks. In the past, I have done work with other trades people for around $10,000, and no one… Read more
has ever asked for initial deposit.
Initially, [name removed] (trades person/owner) said the work will be completed in 4 days (beginning of April). After taking the down payment, never heard from them for 3 weeks. When I rang them about commencing my work, [name removed] came up with excuses (exactly identical to other reviews) sickness, flat tyre, broken spray gun nozzle, rainy day, etc, etc. Always will have excuses for not coming. They commenced the work after 7 weeks. [name removed] will come and work for about 30 mins, and will come up with an excuse and leave my property, and you won’t see him for days…
My experience was exactly identical as other experiences posted here. After 4 months and only 5% of work has been completed, I had to cancel his job, and get another company to complete the work. The company completed the job, initially what Resurfaceit started, and pointed out to me the shonky work what [name removed] has done (attached picture of grouting job what [name removed] has done on the shower wall & floor).
When I asked for my part of initial deposit from Resurfaceit, they refused to give it to me. When I told them that I will complain to BSCC, the reply was “they can’t touch us, as the amount is less than $3,300”. These people know exactly what they are doing; sign up for work for less than $3,300 and get the deposit, and not doing the job.
I also understand that they are now trying to close this ‘Resurface’ business (may be due to all bad publicity and pressure from customers?), and start ‘bathroom renovation’ business. Do your research!
I have always written good reviews in the past of my trades people who have done excellent job for me. Unfortunately, this is the first time I am writing a bad review, as I have never come across a company like this!
Could not have been happier with the service and outcome – I recently engaged Mat from Resurface It to upgrade my Bathrooms and Kitchen for an investment property. From the out set I found Mat very professional and easy to deal with. We had a short window to get this work done and the results were excellent and for a very reasonable price. I can recommend Resurface It and would not hesitate to use them again.
READ PRODUCT REVIEW..Kitchen resurfacing BE WARY – I have given a few ''product reviews'' on different products over the years. My personal experience with this latest circumstance confirms more than ever how important this facility is. We decided to look at changing the kitchen benchtops and noticed an ad on Gumtree in our outer North Brisbane area for this, and replied. After 3 days we heard… Read more
nothing then left a query on the site and a [name removed] rang and said they had been busy with kids etc but took details of what we wanted. He began a real sales spiel about doing hundreds of baths on the Gold Coast but could fit us in.''normally 3 prices mate $1700 large $1500 medium $1300 smallI but for you I will do it for $1300 just tell me what color! when I began asking for a site where the work could be seen..or could we meet up..he sent some shots via sms which were very indistinct, when I pressed for more definition about him and his company he just dropped off and hasn't been heard of since..thank god.! I have just had a look at ''product review'' on this service and found all these submissions!!!! given myself a swift uppercut for not looking here before all this.
Find somebody else, worst tradie experience ever – I wish I had read these reviews prior to engaging [Name Removed] from Resurface it. [Name Removed] seem very professional and started our work quickly. Then the excuses started and after almost two month waiting and listening to every excuse under the sun as to why he could not finish the job we had to get another company to come and complete the… Read more
work. I would consider Resurface it borderline conmen, more focused on getting payment for work not done and then leaving you high and dry. Do yourself a favour and find somebody else.
Perfect Service every time – I have now had three jobs in investments for myself and a client completed by this business. I discussed with Mat the "negative reviews" left on this site and the position of the business. I'm not one for posting reviews on any platform, however some posted on this site are extremely unfair. Its very clear that there are always two sides to each… Read more
story! the "verified customer" banner may provide a more factual experience.
I can confirm my dealings with Resurface It! have always been prompt, professional and reliable.
I have had surfaces in bathrooms and kitchens updated and each and every time the service has been impeccable.
I also spoke with a previous customer before I engaged the business, and their experience had been perfect too!
I will continue to use and recommend Resurface It!
Cant find anything wrong – I was concerned about the negative reviews before the job But after the job is completed, i can say that i cannot find anything wrong with mat and his business. Communications with mat was good and easy. He turned up on time (before i arrived). The bath tub was resurfaced properly and his price is competitive. I am not sure if the negative reviews are true or not, but I am sure my experience is definitely positive.
Bad – Had a QCat order against them in the Magistrates Court Queensland of which I was awarded over $1500 (09/16) which they have NEVER paid! You have been warned.
I wish I could give NO STARS – Well, I wish I had seen these reviews before I commenced work with them. I instigated them to do the work in our bathroom after paying a hefty deposit which they get you to fill in a contract for and I have never in my life come across a more inept business approach than [Names Removed]. They do not come when they say they will and if they do… Read more
for some unknown reason [Name Removed] has to take off 10 minutes after arriving to go and get something?...and then returns and goes with some lame and sometimes 'just laughable' excuse! After the initial bathroom spray we were happy....then issues with it peeling, or feeling gritty came up...getting them back to do it was an absolute nightmare. Excuses and months passed and it was fixed...'not'. Just days later it was peeling again. Sent pictures to them and have been totally ignored since. Terrible experience I would not put on my worst enemy. Never use!!! I'll try the QBCC.

Know better, choose better.
Shonky donky – My job attempted by this business left my bathroom in a worse condition after they started. They took a deposit and never delivered on a promised product. The paint peeled off and they didn't remediate the faulty product. They happily took my 30% deposit and after that, [name removed] and [name removed] were very difficult to contact with lots of… Read more
excuses (sick kids, hospitals visits, injured hands, water in the paint etc).
Do you're research!!!!
First Class Service! – Honestly, I'm surprised by the other reviews on this platform, I can not fault the work or service provided by Mat. We had our bathroom and laundry resurfaced , including tiles and cabinets and the finished result is really beyond what we expected. Mats prices were competitive and he was prompt and reliable. As promised in their quote we received a written warranty document. We have recommended Mat to our neighbour and friends.
What service?? – I have never felt the need to write a review before but feel that other unsuspecting people need to know about this company. My experience was the same as other experiences posted—a reasonable quote, fantastic communication from the beginning, and agreed to a start date. I had to request several times over a few weeks for a written quote as… Read more
Erin was always too busy with sick kids or school fetes etc. I was advised by Mat that the job would be scheduled as 'first in' after the deposit paid so organised this within days of receiving the invoice. 3 days prior to my job supposedly commencing (as I had not had any communication since the deposit or acknowledgement of paid monies by way of receipt) , the excuses began, as the start day was put off for one reason or another . Cancelled the job as it could not meet the delayed timeframe. I have been told I would receive a refund of my deposit in full. I have been chasing this for weeks now - have been told several times it will be in the bank this week, Erin will be in the office this week so will organise it etc etc. Neither Mat nor Erin now answer their phones, or return a text message or an email. Obviously the business is in trouble. However, I will not be beaten! Have now taken action to recoup the deposit monies paid. It is a shame - this could have been rectified very easily by just returning my deposit in a timely fashion, or at all. My advice - DON'T TOUCH THEM!! AND DO NOT PAY A DEPOSIT UNTIL THEY ARRIVE ON SITE!
Bad service – Very knowledgeable and reasonable quote but set dates and cancel. Never give a deposit!!! I thought I'd never get it back!
Skilled and a pleasure to deal with – I didn't see these reviews prior to engaging Mat on a job for a rental property I own at Beenleigh as I had engaged him via another website that has multiple positive reviews. To be honest I'm quite shocked at the negative reviews on product review, I found him easy to deal with, he did a skilled job and all for a very reasonable price. My old… Read more
bath and the surrounding tiles look like new, an amazing transformation. I would not hesitate to use him in the future. I'm surprised others want to pursue him via channels like the QBCC as he didn't want to take money off me until the job was finished and I had seen it and was happy. He did extra work while waiting for paint to cure at no extra charge also, how many tradies would do that these days? Anyway as you can tell I was very happy with his services.
Very disappointing – I have never before reviewed a business on a site like this, but others need to know about this company. My experience was the same as others—a reasonable quote, a great deal of talk about how experienced he was, a start date was set. Then the excuses began, as the start day was put off again and again. Once the job was finally done I insisted… Read more
some of it be redone, as it was pretty uneven work. Later, when some patches were knocked off (I had never before seen renamelling come off like this), I had to chase him for weeks before even getting a time for him to come and inspect it. I was prepared to pay for him to repair the patches, and he gave another quote, but then ceased replying to me altogether. That was months ago.
Do not use this company – What a disappointing experience. Unfortunately the owner of this company offered a salesman spiel and failed to deliver. We were given excuse after excuse, flooding, sick children, bad weather. Part way through the job he decided to pull the pin on the job and we are now left like other reviewers to clean up the mess. He always has an excuse!!
Do not use resurface it!! – This business is a joke! Started the job a month ago & still has not completed it. He has used every excuse possible not to get the job done. I paid a deposit which they will not return. I have to now pay another business to finish the job (& fix the mess) as I am fed up with the delays. Do not use this company. Totally incompetent!
Unprofessional and unreliable – Terrible, extremely unprofessional. Our “quick” job was delayed by several weeks, and they used every excuse in the book (he cut his finger, his employee was sick, his kids were sick, his equipment was damaged in the rain, he ran out of paint and could only order it from Melbourne, sick again… etc. etc). Resurface It is almost impossible to get… Read more
hold of and rarely answered their phone or returned calls or emails.
When they finally showed up, their standard of work was terrible. The tradesman did not properly seal off the kitchen. As a result, paint sprayed all over our timber floors and furniture. We are now involved in a massive insurance claim trying to fix all the damage (over $20,000).
The proprietor was apologetic about the damage, and offered to clean the floors, however we did not want to risk him doing more damage.
Sadly the paint on the kitchen cabinets has already started chipping. [name removed] even left a white paint handprint on our timber bench!
Finally, [name removed] does not hold a QBCC license so it is unlawful for him to carry out this kind of work in Queensland. They are also refusing to provide their insurance details. I just wish I had checked this earlier.
Don't Risk it – I had a tradesman from Resurfacit come out and provide a quote for repairing a crack in a spa bath. I requested, and he agreed to provide, some reference sites so that I could check the quality of his work. After a week of hearing nothing, I sent him an email. It was answered by the proprietor in head office who refused to provide… Read more
references on the basis that most of their work is for private customers and he could not give out phone numbers.
I think that says it all !
I routinely obtain references from all new tradesman that I engage and have never once had a refusal, domestic or otherwise. All he needed to do, if he could be bothered, is to phone a customer and to ask their permission for me to be given their number. The tradie said he had done numerous jobs for various hotels and accommodation businesses, so what’s wrong with giving me a commercial contact ? Too much trouble indicates to me that he didn’t really want the job, or has something to hide.
The tradie didn’t seem at all concerned about providing references so I rang to talk with him directly, and let him know what sort of support his head office is providing for him, however he failed to return my call.
Needless to say, I am extremely concerned with this company’s reluctance to verify it’s workmanship and their poor communication. As this spa has been previously unsuccessfully repaired, I do not want to waste my money again.
I would steer clear of this company as it is a risk not worth taking.

I have heard from two other people that they have had similar problems with Resurface it. One says he lost $4,000
