General information re any faulty components – This just some general information for everyone. If you have a problem with any component within your warranty period, in this case your RV, you go to the dealer you purchased your RV from. They are the entity you have a purchase contract with, not the manufacturer of the component. They cannot by law fob you off. They in turn go through the entity they purchased the product from, it is not up to you to chase a manufacturer unless you purchased direct from them. That is information I was provided with from the Department of Fair Trade in NSW. It may be different in other states.

Retreat Fraser 199R – We picked up our new van from City Caravans, Loganholme Brisbane end of November 2017. Handover was very professional. We've already done nearly 4000kms since delivery living in it full time. So far we have the van to be excellent, the options we selected are great and our Izusu D-Max handles it well. One warranty issue (missing pixel on the TV screen) was handled without fuss, with the agent posting a new one to Adelaide so we had it on arrival. Very pleased all round so far!

Product and Service – Retreat Caravans Product Review Whilst travelling this vast land, one of the most common items of discussion around the Camp fires and the five o’clock gatherings apart from one’s travels is your rig. In some cases the difficulties of getting successful caravan warranty repairs carried out. The problem of being continually fobbed off under the guise of the need to have items attended to by individual suppliers, and granted that there are specific items in caravans that need the qualified service of specific manufacturer, it a very pleasing experience to find a caravan manufacturer that actually believes in the motto “no problem is too big” and that company is RETREAT.

Since purchasing our 24 ft.’ Retreat Daydream in December 2012 we have experienced some of the most friendly and professional treatment from both the dealers and the factory than we have experienced with the previous five caravans we have owned. The courtesy and service extended to us on our recent visit to the Retreat factory for a repair to of a bubble line in the floor vinyl was nothing short of five star.

Pulling the Van is effortless for the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited diesel, considering the gross weight of the Van is 2700 Kg, at the same time returning a maximum fuel consumption of 15.1lt/100klms. The van sits beautifully behind the jeep with excellent towing manners on a dual axle and “rod and roller” suspension with 16 inch light truck tyres fitted.

The finish in the van is first class, with no complaints of build quality. Numerous well positioned power points, both 12volt and 240volt are supplied both internally and externally. Cupboard space is adequate, however for those who prefer to carry a good supply of food items the extra 300mm which is available can add a very large full height pantry.

The most amazing thing in comparison to previous vans owned, is the hot water system which allows two adults to shower consecutively without running out of hot water. Other innovations as standard fittings are the 240Volt power point in the boot and the external gas bayonet under the front near corner. The van has European style windows which can be set at three different levels and closed from each level. The roof vents are the ‘four seasons’ type.

In all, the van is very well presented, well insulated and sound proofed, is very reasonably priced, and has excellent alternate blue mood or bright white lighting throughout all the van with the exception of the shower recess. All lighting is LED with an exit power switch at the door to turn off all 12volt appliance when departing the van. This is very helpful when ‘free parking’ and assists directly in preserving your battery charge.

When the manufacture notices areas on your van that need attention, and small problems caused by the owner (indentation on top of sidewall needing resealing after an encounter with a small tree branch), and fixes these problems without fuss, when items are changed because the owner isn’t happy with it after taking delivery (replacing cupboard doors), decals supplied to replace those covered by after-market accessories, supply products to ensure that these accessories are waterproof, and the van after seven months of continual use with no other teething problems, one can take heart in the fact that there are some good quality vans being built by people generally trying to make that purchase experience a very pleasant one,

The personal assistance extended to my wife and I at the Retreat factory in Camberfield, Victoria was nothing short of first class. From the warranty personnel right through to the people working on the van one has to say to the Retreat people at the factory, congratulations and well done. I especially liked the minimal teething problems and the attitude towards customers of Retreat Caravans from the Warranty Officer through the factory hands to the sales people at the two retreat sales yards I have visited A small ripple in the floor Vinyl
