Kerosene Stench – Recently purchased the avenger 25. Heats large area well. Put it on after doing some interior house painting and the extreme kerosene stench that it produced was sickening. Called the retailer, they knew straight away the effect of paint fumes and went on to say even spicy cooking fumes ie curry etc can pollute the burners and produce the pungent… Read more

kerosene stench. It was akin to the stench of domestic airports. The remedy: open the house and burn for eight hours, right. Why didn’t they inform us of this sensitive nature of this gas heater. We now have a large plastic bag over it as we did a second coat of paint yesterday. Had we known prior to painting, we could have moved the heater outside. Costly to burn the stench out, also we are on bottles not piped in gas. Grrrrrr not happy

Why did I wait so long to go to gas heating? – Jun24 Update We've had these 3 units for 3 years now. Some things are really great. Speed of heat up for example. The air conditioning takes 5-10 minutes to get going. The heating is also steady and consistent. Air conditioning units seem to have a mind of their own. The downside is that these units do generate a gas smell. And, if there is some… Read more ·  3

cooking going on or anything else that creates an odour, that adds to the smell. In a large area, it's not too bad but in a downstairs study, not good at all.

Never liked gas for cooking. But this is different. We now have 3 units. Vastly superior to aircon for heating an open area. Very fast warm up time for an area. The walls may be cold, but who cares! Contacted tech support with some technical questions. Got fast response. Just note that these units do not actually switch off, irrespective of temperature setting. So if you oversize the unit for a small room, you will fry. The next advantage of gas is that you cannot overload the supply (nothing can trip). 1 year update - Just to confirm a couple of things. If you do a lot of cooking or are painting, do not use these units as they generate an odour. Also, if you only have a small room and the conditions are quite mild (not too cold), these units quickly "overheat" the room. They are not thermostatically controlled and do not switch themselves off.

Excellent heater. Easy to use. Efficient and quiet – The heater effectively heats large areas quickly. It reaches the desired temperature quickly. Easy to use control panel on heater. Very cost-effective and perfect for heating large areas on a family budget. The heater copes very well with high demand. Show details ·  1
