Good heater - poor after sales service by Rinnai – After years of reliable service my heater is displaying fault #12. Trying to find a Rinnai repair agent was very hard because the website is cryptic and the phone number Rinnai advertise is rarely answered. However I eventually I did. Sadly after sitting in the workshop for 4 weeks the Rinnai repair tech could not find the problem. So now I still have a broken heater and I am $110 out of pocket. Thanks for nothing Rinnai

Purchased in for $1,100.

Oh I did. And after a 15 min wait I was told they were not allowed to "recommend a repair agent by law"; and then they hung up on me.

Great – Just plugged it in and away we went - cosy warmth :) There was an initial 'new' smell for about 5 minutes, as I expected. It was a sort of gassy new plastic smell. But, it was very, very faint. After that, nothing. The area to heat is about 160m2 with a dividing wall; albeit with a largish opening (1.4 x 2.4). We situated the heater near the opening (between the 2 rooms) are were cosy within about 10 minutes. We then switched onto economy mode.

I was pleasantly surprised to find the unit Made in Japan.

Japanese made goods have a wonderful reliability status. I'd assumed China, but from Japan is a fantastic bonus.

Oh, a hint...

The online stores (in my case Appliances Online) offered a considerably better deal than big box retailers. RRP $1110, but got for $816 delivered!

Today, I'm a 'happy vegemite'.

Cheers
