I have a leaking hot water tap point and wish to change the washer. Do I just turn off the cold water flow to the unit to stop water to the hot water tap?

My Tenants have a Rinnai 1200, which during this winter, on some mornings will not start up. A complete power down and restart will get it going again (remove power cable and reinsert). You can hear the reboot sequence happening. For the remainder of the day, it functions normally. This happens almost every morning and on one occasion twice during the day. It has been functioning for 4+ years without a problem. Can you please help diagnose the problem. Thank you.

Rinnai

Hi Valeric L, There could be a number of reasons for the problem happening. We would recommend contact our technical help desk who can run through some troubleshooting with you. They are available on 1300 555 545 option 3. A service call may be required to diagnose the issue.

I want to use my v1200 on lpg instead of mains gas. Is there an adaptor kit available to make all the changes needed (I know a plumber needs to install it, but I want to purchase it to avoid markups).

Rinnai
Rinnai   DM

Hi Peter D, Thanks for the question, conversion kits are available from plumbing retail stores such as Reece, Tradelink or Plumbers Supplies Co-op. You will need to supply the model number and serial number of V1200 to the store to ensure the correct kit is ordered.

How do you light pilot light

Rinnai
Rinnai   DM

Hi kristymcdonough, Thanks for the question, there is no pilot light for continuous flow units, they have an electronic ignition which triggers when an outlet is opened. If the unit is not starting when you turn on the tap there are some things you can check using the troubleshooting guide on the Rinnai website here:

Alternatively you can contact our technical help desk on 1300 555 545 option 3 for further advice.

How would this compare with a Rinnai infinity 16v

Rinnai
Rinnai   DM

Hi John K.,

Thank you for the question!

The Rinnai V1200 was the first of the Rinnai B16 series. The Infinity 16 is the latest and most modern version.

It also has the same flow rate as the Infinity 16.

Thanks, Rinnai Australia

as a layperson can I lower temp on my water heater

Rinnai
Rinnai   DM

Hi Peter, to make any adjustments to your hot water unit a licensed plumber would be needed, you may be able to purchase a temperature controller for the unit which would give you the abilty to choose and set the temperature at any time.

You can find more imformation here:

To see if your model is compatible you can call our technical support line on 1300 555 545 option 3.

Hi my v1200 has 2 remote pads and irrespective of which one is activated the hot water runs for a few seconds then the temp flashes an 11 or 12 and water remains cold.

Thanks Jim

Rinnai
Rinnai   DM

Hi Jimlib, the controllers attached to your hot water unit also provide a diagnostic tool showing error codes if there is a problem with the hot water unit. Error 12 followed by error 11 indicates an issue with gas supply to the unit and then when it tries to ignote again it is shutting down.

We would recommend checking the gas supply and then try to reset the unit by unplugging at the power point for 3-4 minutes and then plugging back in again and turning on the hot water on/

If these measures do not work you may need to arrange a service call to diagnose the issue with the unit.

You can book online here:

I have a Rinnai V1200 just the last week it has been igniting as soon as the hot tap is turned on, but then the flame goes out within 15 seconds. If you turn the tap off and on three or four times it stays alight and runs hot until the tap is turned off. The same happens again the next time. Regards John C

Rinnai
Rinnai   DM

Hi John C, we have referred to our technical team and they suspect it may be an issue with the flame rods. They have suggested a service call will be required to fully diagnose and repair. You can book a service call online at the Rinnai Australia website here:

We have a smell of gas when we use our hot water? Is this ok?

Rinnai
Rinnai   DM

Hi Tom R, Thanks for the question. The V1200 is our early B16 model and may need a service, a gas smell can be present if there is incomplete combustion. This is usually caused by lower than required gas pressure.

We recommend a service call to check gas pressure and waterflow.

Please contact our 1st Care service on 1300 555 545 or alternatively you may book online following the link provided external link

Our temperature on our v1200 is set at 50'C, is there a way to make the water temperature hotter?

Rinnai
Rinnai   DM

Hi ljaremczuk9, thank you for the question. If the unit has been factory preset for 50 degrees, there is no way of increasing the temperature of the unit. You can confirm this by checking the model number of the unit which is on the data plate on the left hand side of the unit. The model number will begin with REU and if it is preset, it will end in (50).

For more information our technical help desk is available on 1300 555 545 option 3.

Thanks Rinnai Australia
