I know I never look at the 1 star reviews, so have made this a 2, but really, this is an opinion that reflects the difference between what I ended up with and what the reviews and marketing that led me to buy this product implied about it. I'm sure the manufacture quality and hardware design is good, but that surely could be said about most brands all of which probably come out of the same factory you know where, but using it has been a nightmare.
I started with an iRobot Roomba 405 Plus, was unhappy for some reasons and 12 months later all brands had higher suctions, so bought this roborock after AI (there's an oxymoron) research that said it was so great, and as a computer literate person whose professional life was design and development of client UI and databases, this is one of the most confusing, unusable, piece of software I have come across, the developers are obviously too close to it with their familiarity of the product and it's software to understand the lack of usability it represents to an individual who has not had one before.
The iRobot product lost me when it had to be factory reset twice in the first 12 months, but when operating, it was quicker to load its map, and far easier to operate. This Roborock so far has to have the options reset every time I use it, it keeps changing things I've selected, and apart from being able to turn the suction up, every time I restart it again, it is worse operationally that the iRobot was.
I can't go back to the iRobot because it just wasn't cleaning things like the fluff that comes off new socks and sticks to the carpet, and even the roborock has to be turned up to max and deep clean to do that, and other than that, it is a very disappointing, far too complicated micro centric software that is slow, graphics lacking detail to reliably draw zones if that is the only solution to getting it to clean where furniture or beds were that has moved since the mapping so more endless configuring, and I hate it having spent two days trying to use it and still can't get how to make it just go out and clean where it can go in a selected room with the settings last used including where furniture has been moved from, and a complicated customization of zones and rooms by trial and error, IS NOT THE WAY!!
See attached screenshot of the last attempt to clean a bedroom, the top border is a ceilimg to floor window, along the left wall is furniture rarely moved, the bottom is the entrance and WIR and the bed is usually head against the wall on the right. It was mapped and cleaned, then I moved the bed out, first as far as it would go to the top right, and otherwise from the bed and fixed furniture, the whole floor is carpet. Sent Roborock off, it came back without cleaning where the bed had been when mapped! Turned off some setting called something like smart obstacle recognition, moved the bed to another location identifiable in the screenshot as the large blank area with the room name in the middle of it, and look at teh path it took! Not only was it all over the place looking confused as it it was wondering where to go and how to get out of the room, it zig zagged back and forth along a long narrow area left to give it entrance to the rest of the room, it then seemed confused on how to clean the area on the right exposed by moving the bed, and when it got to the area at the top having bunped itself arounf the bed just like the iRobot used to do, it was totally confused as to where to go, travelling diagonally a couple of times across that area, and certainly as the path shows, did not clean that area.
A second screenshot from the history function shows where it just didn't clean where it thought the bed was, but at least you can see where it had mapped the bed, so better make sure it goes back in the exact same place, and the third screenshot shows attempt to create a zone, all that detail of the beds mapped location is gone so it's a guess where the zone should be and I didn't find it accurate when I sent it off to clean that zone so more trial and error configuring.
What can be more simple than, hey robot, go to that room which is all carpet and clean wherever you can get with the last used settings!
Here is more description of how poor the software driving this thing, after a weekend off I had another go at it, taking all furniture I could move easily out of the lounge apart from a spare chair kept in the corner, in front of which my wifes chair used daily is usually located. I expected this robot to now clean where the chair was, and go under the spare chair and under the overhanging coffee table top next to the spare chair, as shown in the image of that corner.
As per the next image of where it went, it did not go under the spare chair which has an 8" cklearance, it did not go under the coffee table overhang, and having durned everything on to max, go twice, deep clean etc, it went all over the place in a rediculous pattern that I couldn't understand, and it was only at teh very end it went over where her removed chair usually is, and this was the second attempt as I stopped the first when I saw it doing a circumnavigation of chair that wasn't there!

I have reached out to Customer support, basically told to go back to retailer, the modern way to give support, fob it off to someone else. Also, they kept talking about Service or Exchange, not much point as the software is going to be the same and the complaint is with the software, not the hardware, feel that the lack of useability of the software is grounds for a claim under ACCC laws, but who has the energy anymore. Currently do not have time to pack it up and take it back to HN who have raised a ticket, but really don't have the time between medical appts and other critical things on my plate at the moment to waste another few days on top of the days already wasted, to do this at the moment. Send it out on its smart plan and hope for the best while it takes ages to romp around, beach itself on the piano feet having just circumnavigated another obstacle next to them, take twice as long as the old iRobot used to, while three quarters of the app is about customization of cleaning and it is just a load of unintuitve rubbish and I had to send it out three times till it went to all accessible areas of the floor, how is going to service going to fix this? The company should wake up to themselves and get an independent review of the software by a quality software house, rather than pay all these "Best 10" reviewers to pat them on the back for the rubbish they are passing off on us with no way to trial it before buying.
Really good Vacuums and mops, these results are better then our Bissell battery powered mob, and Dyson v15!! I like how you can zone areas, have quick functions like after meals, pet recognition, remote access which is great for the unexpected guests scenario The only knock, if you have kids then you’ll have toys or socks left on the floor which get caught on the Roborock causing it to pause cleaning. You do receive a notification though to unblock it. So you always have to de clutter or the other option is to avoid areas /rooms.

So far so good! Had this for a week its cut down my multi story level house cleaning to about 15min manual labour, used to take about 1.5 hours. We are using the scheduled settings and i am able to keep our hardwood floors and tiles cleaner then ever! The floors look so good after the mopping run.

Absolute Gem – Roborock Qrevo Edge 2! After doing a lot of research and comparing different robot vacuums, I decided to go with the Roborock Qrevo Edge 2. I was still a bit skeptical before purchasing it, especially with all the mixed opinions and the investment involved, but I’m so glad I took the chance. We have a 6-month-old Husky that is shedding constantly, plus young kids creating messes throughout the day, so keeping the floors clean felt like a never-ending job. Before getting this robot, I was vacuuming at least three times a day just to stay on top of the fur and dirt. Now, I honestly have no words. This machine simply gets the job done. It’s not rushed or chaotic—just slow, steady, and incredibly thorough. While it works, you can get on with your day, and before you know it, the house is clean and ready again. The navigation is excellent, the cleaning performance is impressive, and it handles pet hair far better than I expected. All the research I did ultimately led me to this model, and it has exceeded my expectations in every way. For busy families and pet owners, it’s worth every cent. If you have pets, especially heavy shedders like Huskies, don’t hesitate—go for the Edge 2. Highly recommended!
