Terrible experience. Product has known issues they won't do anything about. Search before you buy anything from this crew. We bought an S7 in 2023 and it worked for about 2.5 years before the Wi-Fi system suddenly never worked again. Followed all the instructions to reset etc but the Wi-Fi unit just seems broken based on how it is not responding… Read more

at all. So now we have a perfectly seeming vaccuum that can't connect to the world because of a faulty Wi-Fi system. The company simply say it is out of warranty but ignore that Australian Consumer Law says a product must be of acceptable quality for a time suitable based on expectation based on price. This thing cost ~$1200 and last 2.5 years. They won't fix it and want us to pay. While the manufacturer's warranty may have expired, the guarantee of acceptable quality and durability under the ACL has not. For a product at this price point, a failure of the Wi-Fi module after less than three years is not reasonable. So now I have to follow legal pathways.

I’m absolutely appalled at how poor the Roborock S7 has turned out to be. For a vacuum that cost $1500, I expected quality and longevity — instead, it stopped working after just 18 months. That’s barely past the warranty and far too soon for such an expensive product to completely die. To make matters worse, the customer service is atrocious.… Read more

There’s no accountability, no genuine support, and no interest in resolving the issue beyond generic responses. It feels like once they’ve got your money, you’re on your own. A vacuum at this price point should last for years, not break down after a year and a half. I deeply regret this purchase and would never recommend Roborock to anyone. Save your money and buy from a company that stands behind their products — because this one clearly doesn’t.

Brilliant Briliant Brilliant ********* – When buying this product, I'm dreading if any good or not at such a hefty price... OMG, I can't live without it. I have four large dogs, and the floors are so clean every day, with no dog smell, hair, or footprints ANYMORE. Also, my time maintaining my floors has decreased, and I have more time to do other stuff. Highly recommend Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra Mop Cleaner with Empty Wash Fill Dock. Show reply

I have no idea how I survived this long without it – We have wooden floor boards and carpets in the bedrooms and a large 2690 sqm of space that needs cleaning. 2 kids and 2 dogs and we live in the country, well you get the picture on how much I needed a Roborock in my life. 10 reasons for and against + If you have hard floors, low pile carpets and no pets as in our cleaning scenario, this machine performs really well. +If you want mopping and vacuuming in one go, this machine is mighty convenient. It does this by raising the mop pad in order to vacuum carpets. +The machine returns automatically to the dock after use.… Read more

+The machine has effective vacuuming power due to a vibrating plate which agitates dirt and debris into submission. The S7 follows a criss cross pattern and takes a second pass, ensuring thorough mopping and vacuuming. +You can customize where you do and don't want to vacuum and mop. You do this via the Roborock app on your phone or tablet. This method also allows a deep cleaning mode and timers. +The machine is fairly quiet in standard mode. +The machine alerts you with a voice prompt if there are any errors with the machine. +The machine has 180mins runtime. +The machine will rise up to access rooms where there are smaller ledges.

Ten reasons against -  The filters for the Roborock S7 are E11 level, not HEPA. This removes 95% particles with a size greater than or equal to 0.3 microns. (HEPA standard can remove 99.7%) -  You will need Wi Fi to run the app; without it you cannot run deep cleaning mode. This therefore makes the Robot an unsuitable option for cleaners going from home to home or those wanting a more intensive clean but without internet access. -  For edge cleaning, the S7 does a fair job but will not outperform Robo vacs with side brushes -  The rubber brush is supposedly more robust than previous models and handles hair fairly well, as does the spinning brush. However, larger debris that you haven't pre-cleaned is more problematic and will cause error messages, resulting in removal and cleaning of the brush bar. -  The S7 mop pad needs to pre-soaked for best performance. While this isn't a major negative, it will sometimes come part loose and drag along the floor. It would be recommended for investing in extra mop pads if you want to mop more extensively. The 2 extra microfibre pads I bought from Catch were around $40. -  The smart technologies are impressive but come at a premium price. -  Heavy carpets, high ledges and stairs are going to cause issues for robot vacuums. Granted, it has sensors to ensure it won't kamikaze, but the reality is you need a fir for purpose vacuum or mop here. So the S7 is always going to be a solid number 2 rather than a do it all number 1. -  The Robot has to establish its position but can struggle to find the dock at times for a variety of reasons; lack of light, insecure dok or dirty sensors etc. -  The S7 does not alert you when the bin is full, leading to an over spill of dust and debris. -  The machine is tricky to clean.

Upon compiling this review, on the day of posting I unfortunately experienced some issues (see photos). This was not a part of the original review, which I had to modify given the nature of the issue from 4 stars to 3. As Roborock only offer a 1 year warranty and it was outside of the warranty period, they have not been contacted. The disclaimer to that is this is our third choice vacuum, not our first.

CLEANING RUBBER BRUSH / BIN / FILTER During cleaning of the axles (for hair removal), I noticed the rubber brush bar plastic had broken in several places. Just to be clear and fair to RoboRock, vacuums are not designed for larger pieces of debris such as one of the parts pictured. How that got into the mechanism however, is very strange; the normal process of vaccum's is spit larger things out. Also, like any vacuum, hair tangles are inevitable. However, the limited anti tangle mechanism to address this has led to damage. Overall, cleaning the Roborock S7 is extremely poor for a number of reasons: (A)The bin overflows and has no max level sensor to alert you to the danger (or auto cut off) meaning you have to manually empty the bin yourself to avoid this. (B) If you don't manually empty the bin before it is full, the extra contents will clog and cover all the components surrounding the bin, which is housed underneath the white Roborock cover. (C) All this contributes to pressure upon the rubber roller. (D) The bin is also extremely awkward and unhygienic to clean. As a comparison, Dyson's hygienic point and shoot bins, while not perfect, are well designed and much more hygienic. Wear gloves or wash hands thoroughly after cleaning the bin. Roborock do have a ready built solution; the $600 dollar Auto empty dok. With 15 cyclones, 3 litres (bag storage) and a HEPA filter, plus some glittering reviews, you have a solution, but at a staggering overall price of $1600 plus, you could instead buy a Dyson Submarine for wet and dry vacuum. Not a robot, but arguably a whole lot more bang for your buck (not withstanding you will have to do the cleaning yourself.) While ultimately a good servant in the 2 years we have owned it, for 1000+ when purchased, and given this machine is only the second or third vacuum of choice in the house behind the Dyson corded and cordless vacuums, this isn't good. For this reason, the Roborock S7 has gone from good to okay in the overall rating. As the machine has been discontinued, hopefully relevant changes have been made to upgrade the good potential this machine has. For hairs caught up on the axles, you will need small scissors or a penknife to remove. Also, you will need to release hair from the rotating black/grey front wheel and the anti tangle spinner, located on the bottom of the machine. The filter is located above the bin.  Make sure when cleaning you do not put it back on wet; allow 24 hours for it to properly dry.

Conclusion For an everyday helping hand (even if it's just a pre vac or mop before your main one, or something to get you through the day when you are tired) the S7 gets a pass, but not with flying colours. Certainly, with a bond clean in your house, the constant moving of stuff and redoing areas due to dust or dirt from sills or tracks makes for assured and welcome help. It will dodge most obstacles, too, but it isn't without its blind spots. If it loses track of the dock, it can be like a ship lost at sea without a helping hand. As good as the S7 is - an absolute treasure for convenience and very handy for vacuuming the home while you are away - you do have to factor in technology if you want to get the best out of it (as there is no manual mode for deep cleaning) and without proper HEPA filtration, while it cleans well and mops fairly, you aren't getting the extra health benefits that a good HEPA filter vacuum will bring. And in spite of its technical prowess, you still will find that some ledges or carpets are too tricky to tackle effectively. Roborock will argue the Auto Empty Dok resolves some of these issues, but at an extra $600 at best if on sale, that's a staggering amount of money for a second tier mop and vacuum that is, at times, simply a nightmare to clean. In the same breath, it would be an omission to say this saucer like bot hasn't been a good friend and offered light bites of entertainment along the way. Tread carefully when thinking about getting this guy, as while there are glowing positives, 3 years on from its release and discontinuation and with only a 1 year warranty, 2025 should offer better (and cheaper) options.

Robovac is a game changer – We have been using a robot vacuum cleaner for more than ten years. In that time we have had two iRoomba’s and the first one was pretty good lasting for about seven years or so. Our household has two labradors and two long haired cats and little children. fur. It now lives in a rack in the shed! More recently, my wife decided she wanted to try again and maybe the technology had improved some more, but this time go with the Robovac complete with the mop and tower. I wasn’t so sure, however, I have been blown away with how good this unit is. The AI is so much better, no more towers, everything controlled by a app and you can set no-go zones and clean different combinations of rooms and surfaces. I was doubtful about the whole mopping claim but it is better than OK. It does a serviceable job of keeping the passage way and kitchen floors clean. The vacuuming is a big improvement on the Roomba 860 and Robovac is able to find its way back to its docking station every time. No more getting lost between the chairs under the kitchen table. Robovac handles the pet hair really well and the automatic bin emptying tower makes a big difference. Robovac does not replace vacuuming and mopping and we still do that every week, however, on the days in between it does a great job keeping the floors clean and fresh looking. This has been worth the $1300 we spent on it.

Floorboard: Vacuumed (5/5) / Mopping 4/5)

Issues to be Addressed 1.There is no dustbin overflow detector, if you do not clean it you may find dust on the floor. 2.Laser sensor dose not detect the close object, it navigates by simple bumping on the objects. 3.With lot of effort, it climbs 2cm height steps. Worried about damaging the underbelly. 4.You can not put any detergent into mopping liquid. Before you start mopping, mop pad must be socked. 5.It take some effort to create a map of your floor with accurate zones (4 hrs). If you accidently delete it you have redo the painstaking task again. I wish that in future Roborock will provide a option to store the map in our Laptop. 6.Theer are no spare cleaning brushes. I brought brushes and mopping pads from eBay. It works well 7. After one year of working, I can see slightly degradation of the battery life. At the beginning did cleans 120m2 floor in single charge. Now Roborock needs interrupt its mission to get an additional charge.

Would only buy a cheap second hand one that still works – I would only buy any robotic modern technology second hand because everything made in China (which is all modern technology) fails sooner than later. Give me a 1970s Electrolux or Volta made in Australia anyday. I have just bought one of these S7 robots second hand for under $200.
