ROVER RIDE ON MOWER – Purchased a rover ride on mower September 2023. Used it a handful of times (domestically) and the battery was playing up from about 8-9 months. I thought it may have been because it had not been started in 3 months but it continued to play up. The service guy told me it only had a 1 year warranty because it was a disposable item. I Advised him that the battery was over a year old when I purchased the mower. After a lengthy discussion he was simply not interested in warranting it so I informed him I would post my experience and he did not care. I expressed again that I was not happy, he said I'm going to end the call now because you are yelling at me, which I was not, he was getting the, I'm really ticked off voice, so I gave him an example of someone yelling and we ended the call. It is unacceptable that ROVER put a battery in at manufacturer let it sit for over a year until the mower is sold, and when I come with a warranty claim at 1 year 4 months they say it is not warranted. Buyer beware.
Faulty Design / Electronic clutch Failure / Manufacturing Fault – I purchased a Rover Lawn King 20/42 NX with 5+5 warranty ( 27 July 2020) & had it serviced by the supplier as per the manual. I also cleaned it as per the manual. The unit has operated less than 70 hours. The blade cowling comes with a hose attachment in order to flush under the deck to assist with cleaning. At the last service the mechanic discovered the electronic clutch/ electro magnet which drives the cutting blades had fallen apart, apparently the rivets holding the unit together had rusted causing them to shear & the unit seized onto the shaft. They blamed running the unit too slow which put additional pressure on the cutting blades & cutting wet grass for the failure, leaving moisture around the electro magnet / electronic clutch & not removing the debris from the cutting deck. I have suggested grass always has moisture in it unless its dead & despite following the instructions on cleaning, the electro magnet has failed. Why would they install a water flushing system on the blade cowling if it's detrimental if the electronic clutch gets wet? Many emails later, Rover have stated they wont accept liability due to lack of communication with the dealer & my warranty is void due to part (e) which includes "act of God." Act of God equates to there is no warranty on the product.
