The kids club is useless!! Staff are incompetent and seem unqualified for the job. They only cater to 3 years olds that are conditioned for prison. Lights are super bright even at 7PM-10PM, one game at a time, follow in line. Ridiculous! Nothing warm or age and time appropriate for the children. Programs on the ship is a waste of time and money… Read more
because guess what they can’t handle your kids. I lost some earrings at the gym and the staff wasn’t bothered to look when I called from my room. The workers seemed forced to smile and take your money. Even booking this cruise was a nightmare with staff showing incompetence in their service. Reading from a script and not trying to meet customers needs is all I experienced with the staff. I understand it can be difficult navigating a lot of people on ship but if this isn’t your passion choose a different job. I’ve met other wonderful workers who actually knows how important customer experience. My housekeeper was the only good experience with staff on this boat.
Would NOT recommend Royal Caribbean for younger kids. Pretty poorly catered towards kids under three. You have to pay by the hour for kids under three to be supervised in the Tots area, which isn't a huge issue, however the evening session doesn't commence until 7pm, which is also what time the evening show starts, basically making it impossible… Read more
for a parent with a child that age to see a show. We are happy to bring a screaming child to a show and will do so, but others won't be so happy. Intentional, poor communication between departments or just not thought of, not great either way. All we could smell in pool on deck 11 where our kids were swimming was cigarette smoke. Disgusting! Have a designated area for smokers away from families. Poor form Royal Caribbean. Kids need to be toilet trained to be in the pool which is fine, however they would rather risk a kid po*p in the pool than to wear a nappy (as a just in case). Now maybe you would say that a cruise is for all to enjoy, but this cruise has been marketed as a Wiggles cruise, so you'd think they'd cater towards that demographic. Clearly not. Plus, their website states : 'No one does kid-friendly cruises better than Royal Caribbean'. I'd hate to see what others are like then.

Overjoyed -This simply means “very happy.” – Six nights Melbourne and Hobart cruise. 19th of Feb to 25th Feb 2020 From start to finish, what an experience! Arriving at the Sydney Cruise terminal it was very busy and there was lots of Royal Caribbean ground staff helping direct passengers to the baggage and boarding terminals. The boarding process was very fast, no issues using passport or… Read more
drivers licence. It took around 2 minutes extra this time due to the corona virus questions and information. I found this to be good practice by royal Caribbean, helping ease the tension and worries of the virus. Once on board we proceeded to the pool deck (11) and began sampling some of the drinks that Voyager had on offer. We were not limited by price as my group had purchased the deluxe drinks package many months before hand for around $70 AU per day, great value! As this includes Tea/coffee/fruit juices/all post mix and canned soft drinks and all top shelf alcohol and cocktails. After a few drinks we made our way to windjammers buffet restaurant, WOW! What a selection! Food ranging from Australian/American/Indian/Chinese/Italian and much more! Heaps to choose from! Salad bars/ hamburger and hot dog station, huge range of desserts. The buffet was busy as it was day 1 lunch, and there was plenty of staff working! Collecting plates, cleaning tables and drink service. There was a medium Que to get in but was fast moving with little to no wait, and very pleasant staff to greet you. Gotta love royal Caribbean motto's washy washy! The staff encouraging guests to clean their hands before eating. After lunch were went to check out what our cabin was like, we had balcony room (9222) it was very clean and well presented. Bathroom and shower were clean with fresh towels. When leaving my room we were greeted by our room attendant whom asked our names and introduced himself. He also wished me happy birthday, showing he makes the effort to learn about his guest before they arrive. Over the next 2 days we explored the ship, sampling their dinning and bar options throughout the ship. Casino bar and schooner bar are great! Good professional service and very quick. We also ate at the main dining room. This was really impressive the amount of people and quality of the food was top notch. Our 2 waiters were well presented and were out to please, and that they did! We visited Tasmania first stop, awesome! Easy disembark and boarding and plenty to see and do. Unfortunately, 2 hours out of the Tasmania port we had to turn the ship around and return to port due to a medical emergency. The captain was very informative, updating passengers on the current situation. Our next stop was Melbourne, it was a very nice city. We visited a local casino and had a few drinks and a quick flutter. Once everyone was on board at 4.30pm the ship left heading back out to sea. And you would never guess, but yes 4 hours after leaving the port of Melbourne the ship had to turn around again due to a medical emergency. We arrived back in port at around 8.30pm and it was beautiful! Melbourne city at night was a site to see! Thank you for a special photo opt RCI. It was a shock to me to see that Royal Caribbean would turn the whole ship around and return to port to help one of the guests! This was awesome! It gave us all an easy feeling, the care that they take to look after us is exceptional. I do however frown upon those few rude guests that made such a big deal of the event, and complaining and carrying on like little children about the situation. Human Life means a hell of a lot more than the little bit of money you could have invested at the casino. Yes, due to returning to port means that the casino opening would be delayed and would have to wait until it was out of Australian waters before opening their services. But over all, it was fantastic to see Melbourne again from a different point of view. We then headed back to Sydney, only to realise that this was the final stretch of our holiday. Talking among our self, wishing we had booked for longer! Overall from start to finish, I rate my cruise on Voyager of the seas a solid 9.7 out of 10. The entertainment was well chosen for the demographics aboard, good variety and loads to do. Guest’s facilities are in the plenty! The ships pools and multiple spas are great to relax in, the large spas on deck 11 are heated, and was a good meeting/ chatting place on a cold 8c Tasmanian afternoon. I highly recommend giving this ship and its crew a go! And hopefully you enjoy it as much as I

Really good experience for 1st time cruisers – We're a couple just turning 50 and decided on our first cruise - a 14 night repositioning cruise from Sydney to Singapore via Brisbane (our home city), Airlie Beach, Yorkeys Knob (Cairns), & Darwin in April 2018. The experience was overwhelmingly positive. We booked online through www.ozcruising.com.au which was a clear and seemless process… Read more
and highly recommend. We also booked all of our hotel, transport and return flight arrangements directly through the hotel and airline website after researching the comparison sites some time in advance. I thoroughly recommend taking your time and spending serious time reading reviews and looking at the comparison sites before making a decision. Start planning far enough ahead and there are often good deals popping up along the way.
We liked the idea of travelling on a larger ship with fewer kids and it was an absolute winner. Voyager is massive - about 3 times the mass of most of the P&O style ships out of Brisbane. We had an inside cabin but with a window overlooking the central shopping precinct that runs through the centre of the ship - amazing. However it was noisy later at night due to a band playing in the Pig & Whistle pub. Not being late night people this become a problem and we did raise our concern with the crew, Unfortunately we couldn't be moved until Darwin when alternative cabins became available but we we're indeed moved and received a significant credit for a future cruise.
The ship - showing it's age a little being around 20 years old but nevertheless everything was working as intended and is indeed a beautiful and amazing vessel. Cabins we're fine - nothing overly special but clean and comfortable though who spends their cruise sitting in their cabin ... ? Be warned though - bring a travel plug adaptor with you to suit the power outlets! There was always cleaning going on in the common areas and constant reminders about handwashing. We had no concerns at any time about our health or cleanliness of the ship.
The cabin attendants, restaurant staff and service staff generally - absolutely amazing. We felt like rock stars every step of the way. Always remembered our names, enjoyed a friendly chat and the service - 1st rate.
Food was just amazing. Both the 'My Time' dining main dining meals, specialty meals at Chops Grille, breakfasts etc - just incredible. Windjammer & Promenade food was fine (huge variety at Windjammer) though included free coffee was just OK - extra charge specialty coffees absolutely recommended. We didn't really spend much time at the bars or pools and didn't use wi-fi - it is a holiday to get away from it all so downloaded some Netflix before the cruise to watch to fill in some of the time.
Favourite spot was below the lifeboats on Deck 4 where there are a few sunlounger beds - shady and close enough to the water to just hear the ocean splashing along the bow - I challenge anyone to stay awake for more than an hour listening to that. There is smoking along the port side but no smoking along starboard side. We found that we had to get to the sunloungers on deck 4 by 9 - 9.30 otherwise most were usually taken. Plenty more on the top around the pools but found it noisy with the bands and the bars. There is a great space at the very top of the ship around the funnel which would have been ideal for a quiet lazy afternoon but no shade at all and would have cooked to death. Wasted space.
I'm not particularly into live shows - I find magicians and illusionists usually pretty lame and tacky but they nailed every single show on this cruise. 1st rate music and other stage shows and the ice skating shows (yes there is an ice skating rink...) were absolutely brilliant. Biggest tip - get there at least half an hour early.
Biggest trap - automatic 'gratuity' charge per person per day added to your account. Not big on that as it isn't our culture in Australia. Turns out you can have it removed at the customer service desk and you are able (if you want to) to either have a one off gratuity charge or pay a specific crew member in envelopes provided at the end of the journey. However I'm not sure whether you can remove the charges in cruises outside of Australia but we had no problem. Your account is always available to view on your TV in the room so keep an eye on it.
Also be aware of the prices for items being sold in the shops on board. There is indeed some beauitful jewellry, watches and various other luxury items for sale but might be worth comparing them with prices back home before getting caught up in the moment.
Bad points or areas of improvement. I believe that since writing this Voyager has had an upgrade and refurbishment so facilities have been further improved with cabin refits, a water slide and some other additions. She probably needed it so hopefully the cabins have had a lift - they were good as mentioned earlier but a little tired. Our bed was really comfortable before the refit and apart from some noise issues no problems with the cabin. There are no self serve laundry facilities. Laundry is available for a fee and isn't cheap though there is a 'pack a bag' deal where you can cram as much as you can into a provided bag for a flat rate. Good enough to cover the basics like undies and t-shirts to get you through.
Biggest issue was poor organisation in getting off the boat at Yorkey's Knob. 1st tenders were taking passengers off at 8.30 yet we were hanging around until almost 12 noon - half the day gone before we got to shore. We had booked a rental car to drive ourselves around Cairns and Kuranda (I know the area well) and this completely messed up our plans. We now know passenger going on tours organised by Royal Caribbean get priority as do Diamond Club and above pessengers and The Key pass holders. After that it's the luck of the draw so be careful if pre-paying for on shore activities if you are making your own plans.
Getting off the ship involved huge lines out on deck waiting in the heat in Singapore. My advice to either get 'The Key' which is a paid pass that gives you certain priviledges including preferred disembarkation time or simply wait til after the initial rush.
The only other gripe probably comes from not being experienced cruisers. We had to work out for ourselves about booking 'My Time' dining time slots which we now know can be done before boarding or to do it as soon as you get on the ship. Excursions and experiences advertised by Royal Caribbean were enjoyable for the most part but at least 2-3 times the price of booking it yourself. However if things go wrong with your privately booked arrangements you have to deal with it so be careful as the ship will leave without you.
Final words. A very enjoyable and overwhelmingly positive experience. Leaving from Sydney Harbour in the early evening is a fantastic sight and a highlight in itself. The weather was great the whole trip but Royal Caribbean excelled themselves in most areas with only a couple of hiccups and not enough to have a real negative influence on the trip. Organisation could be a little better at time as could the communication. Food, staff - 100%, on board variety of entertainment and facilities 80%, cabin 70%, communication & organisation 60%.
....and yes we are going on another cruise Feb/Mar 2020 to NZ on Ovation of the Seas and certainly hope going on the only ship bigger that Voyager that is currently sailing in Australian waters is as good.

Amazing unforgettable experience – The cruise was above my expectations. Amazing kids club where you never stress about the kids and you can never get bored there is always something to do from rock climbing to ice skating to even surfing. Show details
Voyage the graceful Lady – From booking online to customer service RCI is brilliant. Every sailing has been perfect. The food incredible and the cabins spectacular. Onboard activities cater for everyone. Main Dining Room experience and interaction with crew is great. Shore excursions offer plenty of variety. Show details
Good but not much different to P & O – Ship charges US $. No self service laundry. drinks package purchased before cruise cheaper. Food in buffet great. Shows Ok. Skating show great. Flow rider and rock climbing was good. All in all not much difference to P & O but costs more. Almost weren’t allowed to board as we didn’t have Medicare card with us for 3 yr old even though we had her passport. Show details

Just done Brisbane cruise. Food good. Coffee/ tea not very good, for me, undrinkable . But they did have a buy your own popular coffee franchise on board. Cabin desperately in need of a refurbish. Everything is old and tired. Carpet didn’t look too clean. Sheets on bed were clean but needed replacing .Peeling paint on balcony cabin chairs. Rust on… Read more
balcony drain pipes. Will not go on this cruise ship again. Been on it once before years ago, it was amazing. Will still do Royal Caribbean cruises, but on the newer ships.
Extremely misleading and borderline deceptive. I specifically checked whether a drinks package was available for a 3-night cruise, was led to believe it was, booked the cruise, and only after booking was told by phone that drinks packages are not available on 3-night cruises. This crucial restriction is buried deep in obscure FAQs and not made… Read more
clear at all upfront. Because it was a last-minute booking, we can’t get a refund — and everything is charged in USD on an Australian booking. Our “short break” has now become outrageously expensive just to have a few drinks. If I could give less than one star, I would.
Booked a cruise through the advertising that appeared on my phone anyway, didn't realise, but it was in the US after see my bank account and they refuse to cancel and refund me my money so I can book with the Australian website, it will cost me alot more going through the us, and they will keep my deposit Show details

Just returned from a 7 Nights cruise out of Brisbane to Mystery Island and Vanuatu on the Voyager of the Seas with my son. It was a drop of the hat decision but was well worth the money. Our stop at Mystery Island was cancelled due to unfavorable sea conditions and any one that had excursions planned were refunded the same day. The food was very… Read more
good, the service brilliant and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I read some person complaining about the teas and coffee available at no charge in the buffet. The tea was Twinings and the coffee was Lavazza! If they weren't happy with the coffee they could buy alternatives at the bar or cafes. The customer service side both onboard and at the terminal was fantastic with more staff than required on embarkation at the and also disembarkation.
I've read a lot of the not so good reviews and am gobsmacked at their comments. Almost all of them are truly out of ignorance, lack of reading details and/or stupidity. An example of the customer service provided, my son signed up for the Internet on Board but then almost immediately realized it was too expensive, especially being in USD. He went to the Guest Services Desk and was immediately refunded. No drama.
This is my third cruise in some 20 years and it was by far the best. Must admit the cruise company and the company I bought the tickets from, Ozcruising Australia were excellent.
Suspended All Ports Of Call. No Refund! Unprofessional – Rc suspended all port calls, refused refund except for a $53 credit. Threatened guests to be expelled from ship if you continue to complain about refunds. Dishonest and unprofessional. Don’t ever take this brand Show details
ROYAL DON'T REFUND YOUR SUSPENDED CRUISES – Paid for a cruise on Voyager of the Seas for 30th March, 2020. Unfortunately Royal had to suspend this cruise due to COVID-19. They promised a FULL REFUND within 45 days. I call them each fortnight to check on the refund. It is now 105 days and NO REFUND has been given. Also pre-paid drinks package is not being refunded (now at 50 days).

24/6/2020, still waiting for my full cash refund since 18/3/2020 – Today is 24/6/2020. Still waiting for my full cash refund since 18/3/2020. Bad experience with Cruiseaway & Royal Caribbean Int for my cash refund. Both companies had dozens of excuses. I want full cash refund as offered & promised by RCI in March 2020 and not 125% future credit. Pls refund ASAP. Thanks Show details
Bad communication – Booked directly through RCI as a repeat customer. Covid-19 cancelled our 30th March honeymoon cruise. We were initially told 14 days refund, then 30 days refund, then 45 days for a refund, then 45 business days. We are fast approaching 45 business days and have had drinks packages refunded but no evidence of when the actual cruise will be refunded. RCI has consistently delayed and deceived us. We won’t travel with such a dishonest company again. Show details
Wouldn't book another cruise on Voyager of the Seas – The ship was allegedly refurbished in the last 6 months but I fail to see where. It is still old/tired looking, the cabin decor is straight out of 1995 and the bathroom fittings are literally falling apart and/or do not work at all. We had mold on the shower screen which to me, is just completely unacceptable from a health and safety… Read more
perspective. It wasn't just our cabin either; I was watching a YouTube video of a family suite cabin tour - and it too showed mold on the shower screen, so this is obviously something that just isn't addressed or a priority for RC, irrespective of the class of cabin. We ran out of toilet paper and had to ask for more and at any given time we were provided with ONE tiny bar of soap for four people that had to be used in the sink as well as to wash ourselves with! Seriously!! Even P&O do better than this! The shower head in our bathroom was like an annoying garden hose that just squirts out water in 50 different directions ... SO annoying. These shower heads and all of the bathroom fittings are clearly original and not been replaced EVER. The food in the Windjammer cafe is okay at best. Generally bland, repetitive and visually unappealing. I liked the food in the Main Dining Room and the service was good. I feel for the staff on any cruise ship; they're paid peanuts and worked like dogs for minimal money but these guys were very upbeat and attentive, if not a little hard to understand sometimes. On our six day cruise, there were only a couple of comedians who were pretty lame. No live shows, no pizzazz that you would expect from cruise ship entertainment. The lack of shows I found very strange. RC charge premium fares and do not deliver the goods in terms of entertainment. We found a lot of the time there was not much going on and sat around pretty bored to be honest. RC need to get with the times and provide more outlets for phone charging. We had four people in our cabin, each with a phone, and every day it was a struggle for everyone to charge their phones. On Celebrity you can take a power board which eliminates this problem, but not on RC because it's a safety concern apparently.
Just a warning to anyone looking at cabins to book: AVOID conjoining cabins, as the door that joins them allows a lot of noise from the next door cabin. We had to put up with a very unpleasant woman who constantly yelled and swore at all hours of the night and it was the door that was allowing the noise. We did ring guest services at one point because we just could not sleep with her screeching at 11 o' clock at night, and they were very quick to come and investigate I must say. The beds in our cabin were hard and extremely uncomfortable, but we asked for mattress toppers which fixed the problem. One of my biggest gripes on this ship was the APPALLING internet. We paid $350aud for six days/2 devices and most of the time we could not even log into the wifi, much less use it. It is absolute GARBAGE. If you're swapping between devices it's even worse and even the staff at Guest Services were confused about how to do it. We spoke to three different people and got three different answers. I get that it must be hard to provide fast internet at sea, but this service is terrible and it should be priced accordingly! I would cruise with RC again, but definitely not on this ship. I found the layout of the ship awkward and a little difficult to navigate compared to other ships I have been on. She's old and needs a face lift but the fares do not reflect this. Drinks are very expensive and it seems like it's all about the $$$ rather than customer satisfaction.
No more Royal Caribbean – I expected better from Royal Caribbean as the prices are much higher than other companies. The biggest problem for me was the food lacking taste nutrition and presentation was very bad, especially main dinning. Interior promenade view cabin was so noisy, music continued all night, I asked to be moved to another cabin and I was which was good.… Read more
Walking down the Promenade was crowded noisy bands extremely loud and hard to do shopping with all the noise, but the shops weren't much anyway. Windjammer eating was poor quality also loud music singing washie washie songs I have no problem washing hands, but to be sung songs like we are children was embarrassing and annoying. Deck 11 full of drunks, couldn't watch outdoor movie but that happens on lots of cruises. Was very hard to find a quiet place, library was always full of people. Ship very cold.
Unfairly Banned from Sailing with Royal Caribbean – Prior to our cruise with Royal Caribbean in 2019 my husband posted some statistical facts on the Facebook Voyage Group page, someone was offended and the post taken down. 5 days into the cruise we were booking another cruise for 2020 and my husband was called to guest services and was very vaigley questioned about his post. it, until we paid the balance of our 2020 cruise, i received a phone call from Royal Caribbean wanting to speak to my husband, he was advised that he is banned from Sailing with Royal Caribbean or Celebrity. When questioned why, they said he breached Royal Caribbean Policy we read the policy and cannot see where he would have breached it. When we asked Royal Caribbean to clarify what the breach was, we were advised the decision had come from a higher authority and they won't change their mind. We have lodged a complaint with NSW Fair Trading and upon their investigation was advised the same. I think my husband has been unfairly treated, we would like clarification why he was banned, the reason they have given us i s not a justifiable reason to be banned from Cruising with them. He has had no formal notification after our 2019 cruise advising he was banned from cruising with them. He did not cause any problems on our 2019 cruise and got along well with crew and passengers. We were in shock and in disbelief of their decision, we were looking forward to our April 2020 cruise, we have also had to cancel our hotel and tour bookings in Singapore which will not be refunded.
Worst cruise I have ever been on – We booked of two adults four kids, it was 9pm at night when complained for the third time that there was only a double bed in the room. four children 4 6 8 9 were too small for the slides or wave rider, again they didn’t share this information until you are on board
They were not able to go on any rides
Absolutely no kids activities by the pool The 5pm kids movie was played and the band played underneath with the movie on mute.
The bathroom In room no toilet paper no soap, depite asking housekeeping several times No house keeping provided and no fancy towels, no stateroom attendant
The food was terrible, the dining room just served the buffet food
The show were terrible 1920 music and the laser tag and ice skating rink are in the theatre so most nights there is no Entertainent
The kids hated kids club and the activities are for adults only or above 12 why can’t the kids play soccer or have a belly flop comp?
Wait 40mins for a drink only 1 bar by the pool Up to 60min waits to get into the bistro for lunch and dinner, and good luck getting a table. The bistro is only open certain hours so you are all jammed in
The formal dining room, I was seated seperate to my kids and the service was what you would expect at McDonald’s
There is always a 20 min wait for coffee
The gym is a small room and now they charge you to do the classes, they have deleted the spa and sauna
The pool is small there is only 1 pool area (other than adults) where you can’t get a seat and the pool is always at capacity
I have previously traveled with carnival and p&o and could not fault these companies Stay away from royal Caribbean The redo is nothing more than budget cuts
If we could I would of got off this boat and several guests said the same
First time on a cruise – I found the cruise OK nothing spectacular, I felt like things could of been organised better than what they are. resturant (which you pay for as an extra) and you order a cheesecake, you get the same cheesecake from the dinning room where you get it for free. I find the staff are over worked, some work 12hrs 7days a week and their pay is horrible. I was looking forward to the basketball court, but was disappointed by the size of the balls and the height of the rings which were lower than the standard , also its an outdoor court which is not protected by the wind and wind is a big problem. Security personel experience was very bad and I found them incompitent after an incident with a drunk guest. I also found the crowd a little rough and a lot of elderly people on board. Different bars were running out of things that would make a coctial, I thought that was not very organised and unacceptable for someone that has payed extra for a drinking package. Some staff I found very helpful and very hard working, I felt sorry for all of them when I consider how hard they work for so little pay and they still managed to smile. For the money I payed over the Christmas cruise I don't feel like it was worth it. I would be very reluctant getting on another royal carabean cruise
Choose another Ship – The ship is old and only the specialty dining and shops are well maintained. You dress for the warm South Pacific weather but it’s absolutely freezing inside. or gastro. Our room was cleaned everyday but others areas likes drains had hair, food and rubbish. We will never ever cruise with RC again. Our stateroom Amir was wonderful but others were not friendly at all. The ships Director should of been checking all levels of the ship for cleanliness but preferred to be on film. There were filled glasses, and food plates left on deck 12 with liquor spilt over the running/walking tracks. The food at the Windjammer was the ships only saviour.
Unsafe and terrible security! – I was assaulted on board and the security refused to take me seriously. I demanded to have a medical examination where they then found multiple cuts/bruises etc. They did not punish the assaulter at all - they let him walk free. Royal Carribbean clearly do not care about the safety of their guests - I would not recommend this cruise line to anyone!

Getting in to the ship from Singapore
Please do an online chick-in and have passport photocopied of all passengers as there are long lings to get your sea pass card at the counter. The staff do not speak good English and seam rude so be organised. It took us 20 min to get sea pass and then we went through immigration and we were onboard.
The ship
The ship seams a bit old but feels glamorous and some areas need lots of maintenance. I feel Royal Caribbean dos not want to spend any money but keep the ship going. I say this as some areas seam closed up permanently, pant has come off and furniture feel old and rundown.
Our inside cabin was comfortable and the public areas elegant; the Sapphire dining room looks like something from the Titanic. It's a big ship, guessing a quarter of a mile from end to end, and the lifts are centred so if your cabin is at the back.
The Food
The experience was marred by uninteresting food, Windjammer, however, is like an enormous school canteen and I found the food uninteresting. Meats were tough and salads plain. Same menu for all days all meals. To get a place to sit would take 15 min as we do not know if people are eating or gone as plates are not cleaned. I had to ask many times if a table could be cleaned before someone did it. The body language and tone of the Waiters were tribal as I feel they were flat out working on a roster. The waiters did not care about the passengers but just did their JOB. No smiles at all from any one. Did not seam passionate about the job they were doing but just got the job done, the attitude of all staff on the ship was so sad.
I liked the range of food offered in the Sapphire dining room, but plates were small and Just enough. the Waiters only wanted a good review as they asked me to give them one and I had to do it as he was standing near my mobile until I finished and gave 10 points for his service. I did give this as I felt unconfutable to say anything was wrong.
High prices on board. The basic soda package worked out at $10 a day + tax and then the only drinks available were Sprite or Coke.
All drinks and speciality food purchased are subject to an 18% service charge, on top of the daily gratuity added to each person's account ( arpox 14.50 USD$ per day per passenger )
You are allowed to take two bottles of wine or champagne on board for cabin use but no other alcohol.
Stopes
Klang so I turned back, The ship drops people off in an very far from anything. Bad location. It would take 45 min one way to a shopping area. Phuket same thing long taxi trip to a beach and would cost 3000 BTT aprox . These locations are selected by Royal Caribbean to promote the show excursions offered by the company as there is nothing to do if you get off the ship.
The Entertainment
The ice skating show was the best and I would say 5 star, all other shows were of poor quality and boring, Many walked away halfway as the shows did not have anything interesting. It felt like the performers wanted to get it done with soon.
All of the main shows were stating at 8 or 8 .30 pm and this clashed with the dinner time we had set at the main dining room so we had to skip dinner to go for the shows and when it was finished the Windjammer was closed and we had to pay and buy dinner. I felt this was a big setback
Hardly any activities for kids. The rock clubbing wall and surfing pool had times that were limited and not convenient. If you paid for classes it was available. We went and we were informed that it would be a one hour wait to do the surfing and after the pool was closing so it was not worth staying in line.
Guest Services
Long Lings as many passengers are overcharged and the statements can not be viewed at the cabin TV as the system does not work effectively. Even at 1 am we see lings and I had to wake up at 2am to go inline to settle my invoices, even then their was around 10 people in line before me.
Medical Facility
I had a bit of diarrhea on the third day by drinking some tea with milk, I had to go to the medical facility and the service was good, I was given medication and they called to see if I was doing ok. Was happy with the service. Avoid the milk in the main areas as they are in big containers and may only be refiled.
I would not choose a Royal Caribbean company cruise again, nor would I recommend the company to others. I feel its not worth that they add a daily gratuity and if possible, I would ask them to refund it back to me. Hope Royal Caribbean company would take some action to improve the service and get the staff some training on hospitality and manners.
If your a smoker don’t go here – All the paper work they sent us stated that there were several smoking areas on the the ship. On board is a different matter you are treated like crap with only two places one on deck 4 (closed most of the time due to weather) and the other on deck 11.due to bad weather you are forced onto deck11 with gale force winds and sea spray were it was… Read more
hard enough to light a cig little loan enjoy it.it's a funny thing that they have a smoking room on this ship but couldn’t open it for smokers or provide a weather proof area anywhere .1st cruise with RCC and the last.ship old and tired food just ok but service good
Excellent experience, love it so much – Wonderful 10 days cruise to south pacific islands with Royal Caibbean. It was over my expectation. Booking process is smooth and easy. Accommodation area on board were small. But activities and food on-board are excellent. High standard western food provided on-board is impressive.
Family Holiday – Boarding was very easy, cabin on deck 7 was very clean and spacious. Csbin steward was very helpful with our only request. Meals were very enjoyable and the whole famy could only make kind remarks on how much they all enjoyed it. This was only a 4 day cruise and everything eent and we were surprised on jow good it wad. Would take a longer cruise with this cruise company.
New Year Cruise out of Sydney – This was a great Cruise for all age Groups. We booked 4 cabins & our group was aged 16, 19, 20, 22, 38 & 3 parents aged in early 50’s. We tried all the restaurants including the 4 Specialty ones. Food was great. Entertainment was fine. Very enjoyable 2 weeks had by all. The Crew were professional, courteous & friendly. We were very happy with our Balcony Cabins.
Terrible Everything – We normally cruise with Carnival Spirit and Carnival Legend. After a family member suggested that the Royal Caribbean "Voyager of the Seas" is a ship and cruise not to be missed, we thought, well, lets try it out. Well, the ship is a bit bigger and a few more activities for the young ones, but that's where it stops. The food was not that crash… Read more
hot. It was o.k. We had 6 cabins in total (big family holiday), 3 of the cabins had sheets and towels that were dirty, (don't know if they didn't get washed properly or they just didn't get changed. Once we complained they changed them straight away to some clean ones. The main pool area is nice BUT doesn't have a large stage where shows, functions, dj's can use for everyone around the pool area to see what is going on. Furthermore Carnival has refreshment stations at every corner of around the pool area (water, tea, coffee, soft serve ice cream) Voyager of the Seas had nothing.
Also another very disappointing problem was: we left 5 pool towels with our thongs and a walking stick, (tables right next to the pool towel station), upon our return, our towels were gone, all the chairs placed in neatly and our thongs and walking stick placed neatly on the chairs, so obviously someone tidied up and returned the towels. When we exited the ship and checked our account, we didn't notice anything wrong, while on the train going home, we noticed that our credit card was charged for 5 pool towels, (even though it wasn't on the statement), we rang them when we got home and got the usual run around, then next day more money was taken out of our credit card, again we rang and they told us that the account should correct itself in 7-14 days, Really, this is terrible, why take the money out in the first place, at the moment it's about $450.00 of unauthorised withdrawals. Crappy cruise, would never suggest it to anyone, one cruise liner that I can suggest without reservation is the carnival company.
Very disappointing – Booking process was easy enough and smooth. We did not have any expectations, having sailed with several different cruise lines, much smaller than this ship. Just thought we would give it a try on a much larger ship. Would not go again. The ship itself is lovely but the food and service was deplorable. Cold overcooked breakfast in the dining… Read more
room with staff that did not seem to be coping that well and consequently the service was lacking. But that is not confined to the breakfast only, also dinner. Children gambling in the casino on a number of occasions and even though smokers are now in a minority, smoking is still permitted in the casino. Used to get daily bottled water in a balcony suite, not any more...have to pay for it along with just about everything else including any services. Seems to be not about valuing potential return customers with good food and service but more about serving substandard food and what you can gouge from them while they are on board.
Fantastic Voyage – We decided to do a 13 night cruise out of Sydney not our usual port as we try to avoid the extra expense of airfares. But as Voyage only leaves from here we made the effort as we had only heard great things and were keen to take our son 11 on this beauty. The trip to Sydney and the boarding process was effortless, much smoother than the Brisbane… Read more
port from the airport to sittling on-board we were no longer than 40mins. This ship is truely majestic and has a great style, we were blown away by the 15 levels with everything from a "Pig N Whistle" english pub to Ben & Jerry's icecream and specialty restaurants that certainly impress the tastebuds. Food is certainly something you won't go short of from the Windjamer (buffet style) Sapphire Dining room (sit down dining) the Promenade Cafe (casual 24hr dining) these are all included in the price you pay. They have lots of entertainment around the ship from bingo, trivia, dance classes, movies, cards, flowrider, basketball, rock climbing and mini golf you shouldn't be bored. The rooms are lovely and spacious we had an Aft Junior suite on deck 6 which was nice and quite and the view while being partially obstructed by railings etc was still worth it. As usual the staff are wonderful ensuring everything was up to standard and we were always happy. The only thing I find hard to swollow is the US dollar which everything on-board is charged in, I did actually find that if you booked and paid for drink packages, tours and even coffee cards & in-suite water in advance you did so in Aussie dollars so worth considering for sure. The disembarment process at the ports eith on dock or by tender was hassell free and disembarment in Sydney was the easiest I have ever seen off in like 20mins in a cab to the airport.
Now i have heard the Voyager isn't returning to Australia but will be stationed in Asis so i may not get to experience her again but would highly recommend.
OK, but too $$ focussed – Included food was generally good, although surprisingly food in the bistro tended to be tastier than that in the dining room. 'Pay-extra' restaurants - japanese, italian, steakhouse - great food, worth the extra fee. Bar prices are disturbing. Particularly wine - marked up about 400% on Australian retail prices generally. good thing though… Read more
is you can take on two bottles per cabin and use in restaurants. Drinks package is not an alternative unless you're an alcoholic and looking to be one! Even at their high prices you need to drink about 8 or standard drinks a day to break even, although it does include softies and coffee. Beers $7USD.
Excursions are costly. Best to just get off early at ports and do a local tour - much cheaper.
Stage shows were not as good at those on Carnival. Queen show was lame - singers maxing out vocal strength with no regard for the songs. No costumes - looks like the came from the office! No sets. Rock band was way better, an excellent group of performers doing great covers. One good comedian, one so-so.
All pricing in $US but not explicitly stated, so be mindful.
Amusing disclaimer for back of house tour - covers them "front the beginning of the world until the end of time"! I'm not a lawyer, but that seems a bit of an overkill for a 3 hour tour!
Don't get your hair done – I'm actually rating the hair salon, not the ship or the cruise itself, they were fine. I went on a 3 day cruise out of Sydney on Voyager 16/03/17 to 19/03/17. The cruise was fine but I got my hair done, and wish I hadn't. The hairdresser said my foils were faded, and she would do them a bit darker, which I agreed to, but I have gone from blonde to… Read more
a mid to dark brown. I wanted the same style, and she said she would cut off the dry ends, but from being all the one length, my hair is now feathered, and really short on top. I wasn't overjoyed with the result, but only realised how bad it was when I got home. My style has gone, I can't have it smooth and straight, as I like it, it will take 2 years to get rid of this cut. I look 5 years older, and am devastated by the what has been done to me. I would not advise anyone to use the salon on Voyager.
Unhappy – The dining in main dining room was wonderful very enjoyable. The windjammer was very repetitive. Tried to book another cruise but the guy was very rude and not interested. Staff elsewhere were great
Took 1.45 hours just for our bags to arrive at our stateroom… do not recommend if you want to wait for your bags to arrive Show details
