I contacted the RSPCA multiple times about serious concerns for a dog’s welfare and even made a follow-up call stressing the urgency. I was told that they had come out once and “handled” the situation. That was false. The dog was left in unsafe conditions and tragically died by hanging itself from a balcony. This was entirely preventable if the RSPCA had taken my reports seriously and acted properly. An organisation that claims to protect animals cannot ignore repeated reports, mislead people about “handling” cases, and then let an animal die. This is a devastating failure of duty of care. I have lost all trust in the RSPCA.

My review has nothing to do with the insurance side of the RSPCA. I have contacted the Victorian RSPCA several times regarding the continued neglect of a neighbour's dog. And they have responded and tried to assist the best they could. Unfortunately, our state's animal shelters and rescue organisations are being stymied and undermined by Victorian government legislation that increases the financial and bureaucratic burden of VOLUNTEER animal organisations, while at the same time reducing the accountability of neglectful pet owners. For example, a dog can be left in a dark, confined space 24 hours a day if he/she has some food and drink – no other interaction is required. Yet an animal volunteer organisation is required to report and justify every detail of its existence through its animal rescues, animal surrenders and foster carers.
Terrible...so sad!!! This is not the first but it will certainly be the last time I deal with RSPCA!!!
Not impressed – The vet gave liver treats ti my 7week old puppy. He did not chew before swallowing, he became ill. He was able to expel it by vomiting. A vet should know that puppies can not have liver treats
RSPCA do NOT protect animals – Do NOT protect animals from getting injured if it's political but have a news article that they protect all animals from harm which is incorrect, so why donate if RSPCA chooses not to protect all animals. Advised RSPCA Vic that a local dog park owned by Merri Bek Council was run down with pot holes that could cause injury and that Merri Bek has been contacted / complained to on three occasions over 90 days with no action. RSPCA Vic's response dated 22/2/24 was, "Unfortunately, as this is a council matter, we are unable to get involved and refer to their complaints area' but I have already advised that I did. This provides no protection for all animals especially for the dogs using this Dog Park.
