Can’t remember when I bought the iron but one of the best I’ve ever owned and just recently replaced it with one of theirs.

Had for less then 2 year – Iron over heated, burnt a work shirt, then the base started smoking and melting and bubbling. Filled my house with a chemical smell. I will ring Russell Hobbs to see if this is a recall item or and get my money back! If only I could put a photo of the base,

Dangerous – The iron suddenly over-heated and scorched my best shirt before shorting out and leaving a burning smell throughout the house. It should have cut out much earlier than it did. It now doesn't work at all. Had it less than two years and wouldn't want a replacement - losing a $100 shirt isn't going to justify another RH904.

Went up in smoke 1 month after the guarantee ran out! – I have had this iron for exactly 2 years and 1 month. It's steam function is good, though it does occasionally drip onto the clothes. However, I liked the weight of the iron and it has ironed the family's clothes well. I also liked the 2 year guarantee that it came with. That is until yesterday, when, in the vertical position, the iron started popping and smoke started to pour out of it. And yes, on finding my receipt it showed that I was out of guarantee by exactly one month. Are these appliances made to automatically self destruct when the guarantee runs out? Stainless steel plate for smooth glide over the clothes. Flex was rather short.

Same as above happened to me. Scared me so much that I ran it outside as I thought it was about to burst into flames. I believe it was a fault with the element over heating, as it would occasionally stick to clothes and I could never work out why. Up until this I was happy, but am reluctant to purchase another from Russell Hobbs due to the smoking gun, so to speak.

This iron is terrible - it keeps shorting the electrics in the house, cannot even iron out the wrinkles on a linen tablecloth (dampened) and drips everywhere - an absolute piece of manufacturing rubbish.

After 8 months keep shorting out the house electrics, too bulky and didn't iron.

OK – Great iron, but the electrical cord is very short...dissapointed, especially for the one hundred dollar price tag!Sunbeam had longer cords! Great iron, but...... .....but for a one hundred dollar price tag you would not expect the manufacturer to be so stingy on the length of the cord. You are going to be backed up against the wall to do your ironing ladies. You expect short electrical cords on the irons that are half that price....disappointed!
