Horrible and disappointing – Omg the worst toaster I have ever brought, I always use to buy my toaster from kmart but thought I would buy a mote expensive one tor a change...what a big mistake this was, this toaster is horrible and only cooks one side of the bread and takes forever to toast. So I am throwing the russell hobbs one away and going back to kmart brands. So disappointing in this product I actually rate it a zero Show details

Don’t buy this brand! – Like other reviews, really a disappointing purchase! Takes forever to toast, toasts unevenly and one side of bread hardly at all. I should have taken it back!

Expensive Toaster that won't Toast – "Russell Hobbs" is a brand name I have always associated with "high end product" and high price. But I stupidly treated myself to a Brooklyn 4 slice toaster. I use sourdough bread, white bread and crumpets. It won't cook my toast on setting 2 1/2 . It burns the crust on setting 3 (yes the fire alarm went off) but the bread is still uncooked. … Read more

On setting 3+ if I turn the toast upside down (because of the rounded crust at one end) it cooks one side unevenly but burns on other side. It will NOT cook a crumpet at all even on the highest setting. Never ever will I buy a Russell Hobbs product or an expensive small appliance. So very disappointed and angry with myself for wasting my money. The crumb tray is so thin it's actually useless and one side slides out when i put it back in the cupboard. the cupboard is where it will stay until i receive a refund/credit.

Crumb trays suck!!!!! – I thought it was standard to have crumb trays you can simply slide out from the back, but not this one. Bloody crumbs fall out over the bench and you think you've made a mess, but no no it is from the almost non existent crumb trays. Yes they have two small ones you must tilt the whole damn toaster over to get to them underneath. So… Read more

impractical, it's a joke. Very messy and inconvenient, don't know why they cant take notes from my cheap 2 slice one from KMART lol.....otherwise it toasts fine. Didn't read any reviews about this before hand either, but my partner did buy it before I knew she had!!!!!

Silent Toaster – This is the best toaster I have ever had the pleasure of owning. We have two toasters and one of them is a Kmart toaster used for when we go camping and in comparison this toaster is so much better. It has such a beautiful design that fits in very well with our kitchen and if I could alter it in any way I wouldn't change a thing. This toaster… Read more

toasts my bread to the perfect temperature without affecting the taste of the toast in any way. Not too hot to burn my toast and warm enough to toast my toast. Unlike most toasters this one is almost completely silent and I don't have to be afraid to use it when others in my household are asleep. The Classic 4 slice Russell Hobbs toaster toasts my toast so quickly I have barely any time to get a plate out.

It is so easy to determine the level of toastyness in the toaster with the simple markings that show how much heat is in the is in the toaster. This toaster holds so much toast and once the toast is emptied out the toaster is so lightweight and easy to carry and refill with toast without loosing its excellent quality. and for all this its only 60 dollars. I am outraged that this product was discontinued and i hope to see it back into action soon.

Set with the kettle – This is a very basic model toaster, so it wont do rubbish like poach you an egg or give a weather forecast but just toast. It is very rattily so you get the impression it may all fall apart. My previous was a $9 two sliver from woolies and that had more weight, lasted over 15 years. Doubt this will. The kettle is a little better, but still just okay  Show details

Avoid – This toaster failed after 6 months of light use. Don't buy it if you want something to last, or you want something reliable. Would not recommend this to anyone who wants a good toaster. quality is it's name – have had many toasters over many years. I paid for quality (did get a discount) and that is what I got with Russell Hobbs. I would heartily recommend it every one. shop around before you buy, there are discounts available. you just have to look. they are worth waiting and looking for.  Show details

Russell Hobbs Toaster Review – Really awful toaster. One side toasts more than the other so it's better to toast for half the time, pop it, turn the bread over and toast it again. You can't put the second set of bread slices in at a different time to the first because when the left side pops, the rights side will automatically pop too. Look, I could knit pick all day, but… Read more

Absolutely worst toaster I've ever bought! – Slow and only toasts one side. Won't pop up and cooking light stays on even though it has stopped toasting. We end up with cold toast as we think it's still cooking. Been like this since day 1. Terrible toaster I will never buy this type of toaster again. That's all I want to say.  Show details

Slow and won't toast – To think in 2016 a company can sell such a useless toaster whilst claiming it to be the perfect toaster is just mind boggling! The humble toaster was invented 100 years ago and is box simple and still it baffles Russell Hobs on how to make one work. Seems their commitment to toasters is to focus their attention on how it looks and how cheaply it… Read more

can be made.

I only toast brown and wholemeal bread and one full dark cycle barely changes the colour of the bread. Further more it takes so long to under toast the bread that the bread has dried out inside.

I've had 3 of these models in about 6 weeks, I just keep returning them with the statement "it won't toast" get another one and try again. I'll keep this up until they learn to make a FUNCTIONING toaster or the model becomes obsolete.

PS. I am now on the 6th version of this toaster and exchanging them on a fortnightly cycle, still no improvement. The reason it is a rubbish toaster is simply because the general public has allowed it do be so.

Do not waste your money – I bought this toaster, as I've had a Russell Hobbs kettle for years. Faults: it doesn't toast evenly, the knob to change the amount of toasting is really small & is difficult to see the small white indicator line. The toaster gets REALLY hot, it's easy to burn yourself. It's a total waste of money, I wish I'd read some reviews before I purchased this rubbish!

Awesome toaster – Very happy with our new toaster, works really well. Great to have a four slice one, love the defrost setting. Nice and wide for thicker slices of bread. Got given it as a wedding present and could not be happier. Have owned other brands that does not cook the bread at such a range.

Haven't had any issues with it 2-3yrs later – Bought this on sale for $35 a few years ago and it's done nothing but toast well since we got it. So long as I keep it clean it still looks brand new. Use it most days, one side more than the other. Would recommend value for money. Why spend a fortune when u can get things like this cheap and replace when they die.

Looks good but thats as far as it goes – Model 9476 4 Slice Classic Toaster This toaster looks great sitting on the bench but it's a terrible toaster!! I bought this to replace an old style white toaster thinking that it would do a much better job but T]the cooking is completely uneven. One side of the bread is toasted or burnt and the other side only slightly toasted or completely raw.

Crap – Used for the first time today. One side of the bread comes out nicely toasted, the other side still looks like bread. Put 4 slices of bread in and toasted for exact same time and all four varied in their results. They ranged from no toasting at all to almost burnt. Each piece was completely different on each side. Russell Hobbs Montana model – This is the worst product I have ever had the misfortune to purchase. The Montana is a multifunction toaster. Malfuncioning after not even 2 months – I thought I had found the perfect toaster when I purchased this one as it toasted the bread to perfection and had everything that I wanted a priory the toaster to have and to do. My joy has been short-lived. I bought this toaster not even two months ago, and I am going to take it back today because two of the racks do not heat the bread… Read more

properly no matter I put the toast level to 2 or 5. The other two slots heat the bread or the inner part of the appliance more than they should so my fire alarm starts beeping every single time I use those two slots.

I am tired of expensing my time and money on brands from which I expect more than design, just a good product that lasts at least for 5 years or until I decide to change it, and that is not happening.

I wonder who, where or how the quality controls are done. There is something intrinsically wrong about a device when toasting a piece of bread upsets my fire alarm. It is not that the toaster is not good quality, it is not, it is also dangerous.

Horrible !! – Just threw out this toaster that we bought about 3 weeks ago. Won't take thick slices and the toast doesnt come up far enough for me to take the toast out without putting my fingers in the slot. Have replaced it with a new Breville, half the price and it works well.

Russell Hobbs 9476 4 slice toaster – I MUST totally agree with :- Bas4, Grader, babe51, pack4. smithywood, I don't know what toaster you were looking at, but seriously, DO NOT consider this toaster, my old Sunbeam toasted MUST better than this. It is slow, so slow that your toast ends up coming out "warm", NOT "hot" and very hard... And the lift to view / extract toast, if you use… Read more

the 2 side toast section, then to view or lift, you either have to hold down the other side of the toaster to create enough downward pressure to be able to life the other side, or you can opt to put your fingers on the metal case and burn yourself whilst you lift the handle up. Seriously Russell Hobbs people....try using your development units first before you put them on the market !!!! DO NOT buy this toaster.

Russell Hobbs in the U.K must be a low quality brand that they have to push overseas to sell !!

$9.00 Toaster from Woolies does better job – The RH 4 slice toaster is the worst toaster I have ever purchased. The elements are under-powered and uneven. It takes forever to toast. I bought a cheap $9.00 2 slice toaster from wollies and it works great. The elements are bright and hot and toast is made quickly. It will make 4 slices quicker then the RH 4 slice toaster. Under powered and slow

Great toaster – Excellent 4 slice toaster. Easy to clean. Has a range of Great settings, 2 individual crumb trays, a frozen bread button, and eject button and a browning control knob also has a extra lift so you don't need to stick your fingers in to get the toast. Comes with 2 years warranty. Who could go wrong? Style, brand

Slow, Underpowered and Uneven Toaster – This toaster looks quite good with its stainless steel finish, and the ability to choose to toast 2 or 4 slices saves power. However it is hopelessly underpowered and takes ages to toast. We have mostly wholegrain and brown breads, and these usually need a full toast cycle on the dark setting, then have to be toasted again to brown the surface,… Read more

usually with the knob turned back to the lowest setting to avoid burning the toast. This means we can't have a set and forget toast setting and must manually monitor this toaster. The power output may be adequate for white bread which toasts faster.

The toaster also toasts unevenly. The side at the front of the toaster toasts more quickly than the other sides during 2 slice operation. Also the upper part of the slice of bread is more toasted than lower down on the slice.

This toaster has two heating circuits - one for slices 1, 2 and the front side of slice 3, and the second for the rear of slice 3 and for slice 4. The second circuit is much hotter than the first circuit and glows much brighter, cooking the toast faster in these positions. It appears that Russell Hobbs has failed to tune these circuits to achieve the same heat outputs in all positions of the toaster. If you don't mind wasting power by having the toaster full on, you can cook a crumpet in the third slot using the heat difference on each side, and the fourth slot cooks toast more quickly than any other position.

After toasting the lifting feature doesn't lift the toast high enough to get the toast out if the bread is shorter than standard size. The toaster has to be tipped upside down to empty the toast on the bench.

Overall it has been a disappointing appliance. Russell Hobbs is an English company and should know how to make a good toaster. Stainless steel appearance is good. 2/4 slice feature saves power. Very slow toaster. Unsuitable for brown breads. Uneven toasting. Tip toaster over to empty smaller slices of toast.

Would not recommend this toast – I bought this toast in June after less than 6 weeks one of the levers would not come back up. It never toasted evenly. I thought that Russell Hobbs was a good name that was why I purchased this toaster after having trouble with Sunbeam & Breville toasters, but this one was worse than the others at least they lasted a year the RH's only lasted 6 weeks. the lever would not come back up and it didn't toast evenly

OK – It's really light, the new metal (??) feels really thin and flimsy and not at all what we're used to from Russel Hobbs. It can toast 4 slices at a time. It won't let you pop the toast down unless the toaster is switched on at the wall It takes ages to toast. My old toaster was far quicker
