All Good Here it's not locked verses the Technicolor T797n V3 which is locked and needs a filter.

Perfect for me! – I don't like using wifi, use ethernet instead. This is perfect for me!

Seriously crap – I am not even joking, we can not get reliable 5g from more than 2m back. It would be equally as useful if u carved it out and used it as a bucket. Show details

Waste of money and doesn't work properly – I got this router 1st hand for a low price at Telstra but it is useless! The modem is constantly dropping out meaning I would not be able to do anything that needs WiFi! I have tried switching to a different modem and have had no problems with my WiFi. Do not get this piece of junk, it is useless, a waste of money and is constantly breaking! Show details

Great – Really good modem, especially for the price, getting 83/20mbps with Launtel VDSL2 NBN. This was an ex-telstra modem. Got This from facebook marketplace for $10, so excellent value second hand! Show details

waste of time and effort – we've had 2 of these modems - first came with our plan second was replaced by technician. Both have failed after a few months each. I've had no success with telstra customer "support" despite escalating to a level 2 issue and filing a complaint. What a waste of my time!!!! What a huge lack of support from my ISP. Multiple resets and trouble… Read more

shooting and as a last resort to get us back on line I've now plugged in my ancient Netgear and all is working again. Telstra really need to look long and hard at the products they insist on inflicting on their customers. We pay for a service and are not getting it. I'm about to contact the TIO due to the lack of response and action to the complaint I've made and the month without internet - silly me for expecting the ISP to actually do it's job and fix an issue with it's equipment.

Do yourself a favour and buy something else.

THE WORST PIECE OF PLASTIC EVER MADE!!!! – I am onto my 3rd Sagecom F@st 5355TLS modem provided by Telstra and they are all a pile of junk! After numerous line tests, stability profiles set on the line, Telstra just keep band-aidng the situation by handing out replacement after replacement. I installed a piece of software that monitors my internet connection on my home server and in one… Read more

month alone, the software reported 775 drop outs, thats an average of 25+ a day.....

If you can cope with not having a home phone, then your best bet is to purchase a reputable branded VDSL2+ modem and use that instead of any Sagecom product.

Sagecom = the pain of my existance :-(

It works – Look it works drops out occasionally, speed isn't the best but it's more of a set and forget kind of setup. I kind of wish that we got the Wifi Modem that had a 4G backup but again this one just works fine. Only gripe I have is that it uses extra power for Telstra air only a little bit though.  Show details

Telstra cheap model for personal use seems also dont both to update firmware either. F@st.5355 – Avast did security diagnostic for me and only found my Sagemcom router a problem. Wide open to hackers. No updates on firmware. Explanation from Telstra is 1. change security key and password. Refused as that wont do it. 2. Complaint to Telstra if give us full name and DOB oops ID theft on open to hackers via router - DUH - guess its fact the… Read more

techs can speak English that well as not first language and again business get Aussies on their tech. Yet told we pay same price for bundle $99 not that cheap a lot cheaper out there. I went with them as with them on ADSL and had found using others boots on the ground to fix at exchange big advantage.

Now i read here - where I come prior to buying but didn't have choice with Telstra as free.- that business gets a Netgear much more efficient and expensive router - but also pay the same as me $99 mth.

And 3 - sais yes to do you want the chat dialog sent to you - still waiting....................days later.

Guess choice is buy a Netgear as still have longer contract than I thought as updated when went to NBN.

And cant see Telstra sorting this one out as on Community others also same question months back re firmware. Also told on there to leave i ton overnight as updated midnight to 3 am. Never been off since installed except for reset to try to get it to update etc.

Now see reading here also open to anyone else on same bundle with Telstra Air - no wonder they upped my data to unlimited. someone already complained I bet ha ha.

Very fast speeds, easy set up – Received this gateway modem as part of our Telstra bundle and was reluctant to use as we had a great Modem already. However, once set up with our cable adapter we've found the speeds great! Installation was very easy and we haven't had any dropouts at all. It has dual band Wifi which works well for us as 5g is great downstairs but poor signal upstairs, so we can access the 2.4GHz when up there. Very happy with this modem.  Show details

Slow ethernet and USB – 100 BaseT ethernet was introduced over 20 years ago. It shouldn't be used in modern routers and certainly not in conjunction with fibre or cable services. Surely Telstra's margins are not so thin that they need to compromise customer experience with obsolete technologies like this and USB2. To add insult to injury, there are only 2 slow ethernet… Read more

ports.

Cable management is better than the Telstra Smartmodem and the second USB port at least allows you to set up a permanent NAS without having USB cables on the front of the modem. Wi-Fi performance is also decent.

Telstra Modem – The Sagemcom F@st 5355 modem is part of the Telstra Internet Bundle plans. It's average for what it is, you get it for free with a plan. It's easy to setup, the speeds are normal 5-20mb and the wifi signal. You can media stream movies from your usb to the modem to your Tv.  Show details

Average Router – I got this router as part of Telstra internet bundle. This router was very easy to set up as Telstra put pictures in the manual which are very easy to understand。 This router was in white and look pretty good if you place that in a house with light color interior. the model comes with 2 usb 2.0 which are handy for connecting printer however if you… Read more

want to use it to connect external hdd as a shared drive, the usb 2.0 may not have enough bandwidth. We found it pretty laggy when we did copy paste.

As for wifi signal, it provide both 2.4g and 5g channel. Our house is double story with 5 bedrooms. Downstairs receive decent reception on both 2.4g and 5g but upstairs only got 2.4g. In one of the bedrooms upstairs, even 2.4g drops out sometimes. As a result, we have to add a wifi range extender. With that extender now, it works well now in the entire house.

Considered all above facts, overall I would rate this Sagemcom model as a average router.

Worst router I have ever come across – What a POS. The ammount of 5GHZ dropouts I have experienced with the router is unbelievable. I have gone back to the older Gateway Max Netgear 6300bd which has worked flawlessly since the switch. Thank god I did not have to pay for this ugly paper weight. If you are moving to telstra, my cable broadband is nice and fast, but do yourself a… Read more

Terrible at the job its given – This product has been crap since the day we got it from telstra, they sent another 2 routers, with the same flakiness. It says it supports 5ghz but it is not at all relable, the 5ghz band kicks all clients off the network when it decides to pack it in. Telstra tech have no idea how to fix this appart from sending more routers, i have 3. All of… Read more

them have the issue with the 5ghz band. All have been 2 been factory reset 2 times as part of troubleshooting.

Telstra's desire to cut costs on hardware has resulted in customers being sent modems that are not up to the job they are ment for.

Good modem, 5G can be flaky – This gives excellent speeds (on Telstra cable) and both regular and 5G WiFi work, though not all my devices can connect to 5G all the time. Settings are easy to manage and fairly intuitive. I use the DLNA media server as well - it’s slow to index and often flaky but I have the impression that’s the DLNA technology rather than the modem. Using it as an external drive works very well, it’s just the media server portion that has issues.  Show details

Don't bother – Installed by Telstra for a 91 year old who was told she had to go to the NBN by Telstra. Used only for a phone line. Lasted two months' before dropping out and no phone and was reset by neighbour once and Telstra technician once before complaint to TIO brought forth a promise to upgrade modem with a different one. Told by Telstra that they… Read more

This Modem Severely Damages Telstra's Reputation – Configuration options are very limited. Basic telephone handsets cannot connect. IP Address range is very restrictive. Neither Sagemcom nor Telstra provide basic online user manuals. Sagemcom does not provide online tech support nor a list of frequently asked questions. Telstra provide this very basic modem for residential customers, but provide a… Read more

A Fine Product – Despite being chunky in its design, the router does the job. The biggest issue is the placing of the ports, positioned on the bottom of the device. This makes it quite difficult if you have many cabled connected to the device, and also proves frustrating when adjusting your set up,  Show details

Keep Drop out a lot, boost up too long – Just upgrade to Nbn f@st 5355 modem in August 2017, in 1 month this modem dropped out 2-3 time a day and each reboot 5-10 minutes. Complained and got replaced with the same model in October 2017. Fist 1 week works ok then weeks later keep dropping off all the time and now get worse, because the modem struggles to stabilise itself, then have to… Read more

switch off the power supplies to the BBN modem and F@st 5355, and turned both back on at the same time in order for the F@st 5355 to stay stable for a while. But not for long then keeps dropping throughout the day over again. Waiting for telstra to fix it!!!!!!!!

Worst Modem Ever – No manual supplied, no instructions on what lights are doing, no instructions on how to pair, it's a cheap and nasty piece of rubbish, typical quality of what telstra supplies free of charge to use on NBN.

worst modem ever – This modem drops ceases to work during my internet browsing - the green lights go out and I have to power it back up each time. This never happened with my ADSL 2 (I think) - it occasionally would drop out but not every day as this thing does (at least twice a day) - invariably when I'm in the middle of a purchase eg, purchasing a fight. Telstra should wake up to the fact they have provided new NBN customers with a dud.

Yeah nah its okay – When NBN finally arrived in my neighbourhood, I switched on NBN straightaway hoping that my Xbox gaming and porn videos experience would improve. Telstra sent me this modem as part of the deal. The suck thing is that there's nowhere in the instructions where you can go to log in and to customise the Wi-Fi since no manual was provided. Nice on… Read more

Telstra- Not! But luckily you can find one in the following link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzrqIis29Do9bTFxRUFjU3ZoWE0/view?usp=sharing (thank me later)

Also although there's the nifty 3G option for when the phone lines go down, Telstra forgot to tell you that the Telstra Air that's free for Telstra users is by default enabled on this modem. So for those Telstra Air users they have a new hotspot in their house thanks to your modem. So after seeing on the gateway page that had almost 50 people logged into Telstra Air thanks to my new fancy modem, I went onto my Telstra and requested for it the disabled- but here's the catch you have to do this each month, there's no quick-fix to make it permeant as I'm told by Telstra. All in all I've had mixed feelings with this modem. I'll stick to it, just so I can eBay the Telstra modem and get some money back. SO there Boo- Yeah!

Was a replacement modem from Telstra – Telstra sent this free of charge as a replacement to our old modem. We still have issues though so unsure if it's because of where we live or just the terrible reception out here in the country. Now just waiting for the NBN to be rolled out as apparently that's what'll make us really happy! We shall see!

No user manual :( – Purchased Sagemcom from Telstra for use with my new NBN connection. Does the job (just) although wifi is patchy and I'm now using a dedicated wireless router. Biggest gripe is... no user manual!!! How on earth do you figure out what all those buttons mean without the manual? Much less something more complex such as bridging it :( Quick Start Guide from Telstra so dumbed down as to be practically useless!
