Bought these boots six years ago following recommendation as these were high-quality elite mountaineering boots. The model is Trainer 2 Mid GTX. I have used the twice for a two day excursion, then due injury I haven't been able to use them since. This week i took them out of the box, use them for an hour and they literally disintegrated. They haven't seen rough terrain, no water, no temp excursions. I clean them and put them back in their original box each time ( two times in today). I reached out to Salewa, they replied to my email( with photos) with a standard AI generated email saying that is normal for the boots to disintegrate like. Please take a moment to look at the photos. Boots are still in new condition but i have to throw them out. Rubbish, I won't buy this brand ever again as it simply won't outlast the warranty period( 2 years), then going in to my mountaineer-elite rubbish bin.
Bought a pair of these supposedly high quality hiking boots in May 2024 with a 2 year guarantee. Two weeks late in heavy rain my feet were soaking within 20 minutes. Took back to the shop and they sent back to Salewa. Replaced boots after testing but took 3 weeks to get replacements. 23 months later after receiving replacements boots leaking again like a sieve. Contacted Salewa but because more than two years since purchase (but only 23 months since replacements) they won’t replace. So boots are clearly of poor quality when two pairs both leak in a short space of time and company won’t stand by their product. Do not buy Salewa products, they are poor quality and company are cowboys when it comes to standing by their products.
